High School Graduate With Type-1 Diabetes Accepts Diploma With Life Saving Dog At His Side

Being a kid is challenging enough. Adding a life-long chronic illness to the mix makes growing up even harder. Meet Tyler McCready and his dog Sinatra. Tyler is a diabetes warrior! According to the Diabetes Research Foundation, “The more severe form of diabetes is Type 1, or insulin-dependent diabetes. It’s sometimes called “juvenile” diabetes, because type 1 diabetes usually develops in children and teenagers, though it can develop at any age.”
A few years ago, Tyler had such a drastic drop in blood sugar that he began to slip into a coma. His parents knew he needed more support than testing his blood sugar a few times a day. They decided a special service dog could literally save Tyler’s life, so they adopted Sinatra.
Sinatra is specifically trained to detect dangerous drops in blood sugar and then alert Tyler. According to Tyler, Sinatra has saved his life thousands of times.
Sinatra doesn’t just help Tyler with his diabetes, he gives him the companionship Tyler craved. Because of his illness, Tyler began to battle depression, even becoming suicidal. He felt like an outcast, and isolated, and really needed someone who would understand him. Sinatra is there no matter what and never judges Tyler.
As high school progressed, the two became inseparable. Where there was Tyler, there was Sinatra. This earned the duo a special spot in the yearbook.
For two years, these two have been side-by-side through it all! This past weekend, they did something tremendous. They graduated high school… together!
“It was awesome,” Tyler told The Dodo. “I got the loudest ap Continue reading

Through proper sugar control, many problems such as eye disease, kidney disease, heart disease, nerve damage and serious foot problems can be prevented or delayed.
Here are some tips to live well even with diabetes type
Through proper sugar control, many problems such as eye disease, kidney disease, heart disease, nerve damage and serious foot problems can be prevented or delayed. Maintain a healthy lifestyle and stick to daily routines of regular exercise, good nutrition, glucose monitoring, and regular visits to your doctor.
Eat regular meals – Have at least three meals at about the same time everyday. Eating every four to five hours can help control blood sugar. Always carry with you some type of carbohydrate food or drink that has 10 to 15 grams of carbohydrate which you can use in case of emergency (low glucose level).
Eat a variety of foods. Choose foods that fulfill your body’s nutritional needs. Eat less fat, less sugar and less salt. Avoid fried foods. Baked, boiled or steamed foods are healthier to eat. Avoid red meat. Have low fat dairy products. Eat more high-fiber foods, like vegetables, fruit and whole grain breads and cereals.
Monitor your blood glucose two to four times every day – with a blood glucose meter, if your doctor has advised you to. It is an electronic device for measuring the blood glucose at home. The blood glucose test is performed by pricking your finger with a small, sharp needle (lancet), putting a drop of blood on a chemically active disposable test strip and then placing the st Continue reading

Believe It or Not, Use Frozen Lemons and Say Goodbye to Diabetes, Tumors, Obesity!

Believe It or Not, Use Frozen Lemons and Say Goodbye to Diabetes, Tumors, Obesity!

Lemons are ones of the most beneficial fruits on the planet, and due to their countless health benefits and unique flavor and scent, they are added to various recipes.
Lemons are excellent for detoxification of the body, but when juiced, the lemon loses many of its nutrients and a great part of the medicinal potential.
On the other hand, freezing is a better option. The peel of the lemon strengthens the immune system, and offers numerous health properties, like regulating cholesterol, preventing cancer, treating bacterial infections, and destroying parasites and worms.
These are the health benefits of this miraculous fruit:
Prevention of asthma
Fighting inflammation
Detoxification of the kidneys and the liver
Boosting the immune system
Regulation of high blood pressure
Elimination of harmful bacteria
Treating depression and stress
Fighting cancer
The lemon juice is extremely high in vitamin C, while its rind is effective in eliminating toxins from the body. Studies have shown that the lemon peel actually contains 5 to 10 times more vitamins.
Decades ago, scientists examined the effects of lemon in the case of cancer. What they found was that these fruits eradicate malignant cells in several types of cancers, including lung, breast, and colon cancer.
What’s best about this all is that lemons, unlike chemotherapy, target only the cancerous cells, and do not affect the healthy ones.
According to Dr. Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist, and expert on women’s health, the peels from various fruits can boost the immune system and support overall health. She also claims that smoo Continue reading
