What Is Ketone For Weight Loss?

How To Use Exogenous Ketones

How To Use Exogenous Ketones

Exogenous Ketones were introduced in 2014, about the same time as I was recovering from having my daughter, and therefore very concerned about weight loss. But let’s back up for a bit, because if you’re here reading about Exogenous Ketones, and how to drink ketones for weight loss, let’s start at the beginning so you have a firm foundation to build if you do decided to take a ketone supplement for weight loss. First of all, Exogenous Ketones (we’ll get to exactly what those are in just a sec…hang in there) were introduced as the Ketogenic Diet started gaining popularity among the health and fitness community, as well as with the scientific community. Why? Well, it’s all about health. For so long, doctors and researchers have preached the benefits of a low-fat diet to prevent and correct all sort of things like heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, etc. But….they may have been wrong. I am not a doctor, and do not have a medical degree, but I’ve done my homework, and I’ve lived (and am currently living) a ketogenic lifestyle. So I’ve done this, I’ve read loads and loads about it, and I’ve even been able to help many of my friends use the things I’ve learned to lead healthier lives. But, as with anything concerning your health, please make sure you have a discussion with your doctor before making a drastic change. Related: I lost 23 pounds in 60 days of Keto. Here’s how. The Beginner’s Guide To Exogenous Ketones

The keto-dieting world has been buzzing with information about developments on exogenous ketones for awhile now, with many brands producing exogenous ketones that are used by Keto lifestylers around the world. But the majority of Keto dieters don’t completely understand what exogenous ketones are or how they can benefit their diet (or dieting options). In this post, we’ll provide you with easy to read information about exogenous ketones. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to utilize exogenous ketones in your diet, and teach others about their value. Let’s start with the label! The Definition of Exogenous Ketones Two words: exogenous and ketones. The word exogenous describes something that is developed from external factors; something outside of the usual production. So in terms of ketones, this means that exogenous ketones are synthetic: created outside of your body by scientists and then ingested for accelerated ketosis. We assume that you already know what ketones are, but just in case, we’ll give you a brief description of this term as well. Ketones, are organic compounds produced by in your body when your system experiences starvation, or when you restrict carbohydrates and increase fats, which inhibits a starvation-like state that produces ketone bodies. These ketones are an ideal fuel source for your body and your brain. Studies have suggested that when your body is in a ketogenic state, it utilizes oxygen more efficiently in the generation of energy. In short, ketones are secret weapons for anyone looking to take their body’s fueling system to the next level! To restate the point: Exogenous Ketones are ketone supplements. They’re created outside of your body and i Continue reading >>

Pruvit Keto Os Review

Pruvit Keto Os Review

I'm Mike and I've been a personal trainer for over 10 years and I first heard about ketosis way back before it was even a big thing. I've been more or less on the ketogenic diet full-time ever since. When Keto-OS came out, people had been talking about Keto-OS being the go-to product for quickly getting into ketosis and even allowing you to cheat. Me being a skeptic, I set out on a 3 month strict review project, to get to the bottom of whether or not Keto-OS actually works. After months of testing blood samples and body calibrations, I am about to give you the conclusion of what I found from my review down below. KETO OS is the latest product from Pruvit and stands for "Ketone Operating System." This product is an exogenous ketone drink, which means it may provide a multitude of benefits, ranging from athletic performance enhancement, more efficient weight loss, cancer prevention, cognitive improvement and anti-inflammatory properties, among other things. Its ability to essentially trick the body into burning fat instead of carbs (a state known as ketosis) can also result in more rapid weight loss than you may have thought possible. This is what Pruvit had to say: Keto-OS is your “ketone operating system”. It was one of the First Therapeutic Ketone Supplements on the market. The proprietary blend is owned by Prüvit and is Dr. Approved, Lab Tested, University backed and the technology in Keto-OS is patent pending, developed by one of the most world renown Dr.’s and experts on Ketosis. Prüvit was the first company approved by University of South Florida to acquire the sub-license rights to use this patent pending technology. It is a powder that you mix with 8=10 oz. of water. Do Raspberry Ketones = Weight Loss? Here’s What The Reviews Say

Raspberry ketones review: For many of us, it feels as though the weight loss game is an endless struggle. There’s plenty of little magic pills out there, but it’s often hard to tell which – if any – will actually work. You may have tried them all in the past, but there’s a new supplement in town. If you’ve yet to hear all about Raspberry Ketones, you must have been living under a rock until now. These supplements just so happen to be the next big thing in dietary supplements and there is a whole load of people out there raving about them. But can you really trust all you read? Here’s what you need to know! What are Raspberry Ketones? First of all, let’s deal with the burning question on everyone’s mind. What actually are these Raspberry Ketones? Well, as you likely know already, these things are 100% natural. They are the natural phenolic compound, which can be found in red raspberries. Before they became popular supplements, raspberry ketones were actually used in many manufacturing processes, including making perfume and cosmetics. What are the potential benefits? That’s all very well and good but what do the supplements do? The idea here is that these supplements help you to break down fats in your body faster than you otherwise would. That means that you can lose weight more effectively when you take them. Or, at the very least, that’s the theory. These products haven’t been on the market long enough for there to be too much information out there. That means that we really don’t have all that much to go on when it comes to how safe they are. Do raspberry ketones help you lose weight? Until now, there haven’t been very many studies on the effects of Raspberry Ketones. However, the few that are around seem to suggest that there is some foun Continue reading >>

Why High Levels Of Ketones Does Not Equal Greater Weight Loss

Why High Levels Of Ketones Does Not Equal Greater Weight Loss

2 0 In a previous posting, I spoke through the different ways in which you can measure the level of ketosis in the body. One of the points that I brought up is this notion that exists in the keto world of people being told or believing that a higher ketone reading automatically means you will experience a greater rate of weight loss. The point I stated before and I want to repeat again is a classic misinterpretation of cause and effect in that: “Just because you have a high ketone level in the body, does not mean that you will automatically experience a fat/weight loss.” I’ve been working with the application of a ketogenic diet for over 8 years now and where this notion came that high ketones=greater weight loss, I’m not too sure. Over the past couple of years though with the explosion in the popularity of a ketogenic diet, it is becoming more prolific especially amongst many keto online groups. I have had clients come to me in the past before looking for help with their diet. They have followed many “experts” advice online and it has lead them down a path of believing that the only way to success with this form of diet is all about upping the fat, driving the carbs and the protein down as much as you can. Some people coming to me were consuming as much as 80% or even 90% of their diet as fat. Now unless you have a specific therapeutic reason for following a ketogenic diet or if you really feel like that is the optimal diet for you, not many people need to be eating this much fat. Also, if you are someone that is looking to follow this diet especially for weight loss, then I promise you, adding more fat above what your body needs is going to cause you to gain, not lose weight. Where I really see this occurring, is when people are struggling to lose weight o Continue reading >>

Raspberry Ketone: The Truth Behind This Banned Fat-burning Slimming Aid

Raspberry Ketone: The Truth Behind This Banned Fat-burning Slimming Aid

In recent years, Raspberry Ketone’s apparent qualities in aiding weight loss have been popular. It’s a chemical compound found in raspberries, blackberries and cranberries, which is not only found in weight loss products, but also in foods as a flavouring and fragrance agent. Results from clinical animal studies have revealed Raspberry Ketone can help enhance the fat burning process and reduce fatty tissue in the body. But while hundreds of versions of the product have hit shelves all over the world it was band in the UK in 2003 by the Food Standards Agency. The reason for its ban came after concerns emerged over its safety and there being no conclusive studies conducted on humans supporting its use as a weight loss supplement. The Food Standards Agency classified Raspberry Ketone as a ‘novel food’ - a type of food that does not have a significant history of consumption or one that is produced in a way that has not previously been used for food. In making Raspberry Ketone a novel food, the Foods Standards Agency has also made it illegal to sell the substance within the European Union. The FSA has put the ban in place to encourage clinical study on the substance while attempting to keep the public safe from any potential dangers that may arise. An FSA spokesperson outlined: “The legal situation with raspberry ketones depends on how they are extracted. “‘Rapsberry Ketone’ (4-(p-hydroxyphenyl)utan-2-one) when used as a flavouring, in compliance with the EU Flavourings Regulation, are permitted on the market. “It is a requirement for all food places on the market that it must be safe and this would include raspberry ketones. Other uses must be compliant with the relevant law.” So what clinical evidence does stand for raspberry ketone aiding weight loss? Continue reading >>

What They Don’t Want You To Know About Raspberry Ketones

What They Don’t Want You To Know About Raspberry Ketones

Before you jump on the raspberry ketone bandwagon, there are a few things you should know about this over-priced, proclaimed weight-loss miracle in a bottle. What is it? Raspberry ketone is the natural phenolic compound found in red raspberries (Rubus idaeus). In simple terms, this chemical compound gives berries their signature scent. Until recently, raspberry ketones were used primarily by the perfume and manufactured food industries, but now the compound is being sold in supplement form. Raspberry ketones have been touted as the next weight-loss miracle drug, with manufacturers claiming that the ketones help your body break down fat more efficiently, helping you to lose more weight. Is it true? Before you run to the pharmacy to pick up a bottle, at least finish reading this blog. What I’m about to share with you might surprise (or downright shock) you! Raspberry ketones have never been tested on humans in scientific studies. That’s right. You read that correctly. To date, there have been no human studies showing that raspberry ketones burn fat or benefit your weight loss. Now, if you are a rat, there are two studies of interest. One study gave male rats raspberry ketones, which resulted in an increased secretion of adiponectin, a hormone secreted by fat cells that helps the body break down fat. The result was less fat on the rat. In another rat study, the rodents were fed a high-fat diet with differing amounts of raspberry ketones. The rats that received more raspberry ketones burned more body fat and gained less fat tissue. A third study exposed fat cells in a test tube to raspberry ketones and found that the raspberry ketones stimulated the breakdown of the fat cells. I’ll agree that this is all very interesting research, but it is also considered very prelim Continue reading >>

Getting To Know Ketones

Getting To Know Ketones

People with diabetes, particularly those with Type 1 diabetes, have been at least vaguely aware of the word ketones for a long time. With the recent resurgence of popular interest in low-carbohydrate diets, however, just about everyone seems to be talking about ketones these days. But does anyone really know what ketones are? Are they a danger to your health (as in diabetic ketoacidosis), or a sign that you have lowered your carbohydrate intake enough to cause weight loss (as some people who follow low-carbohydrate diets believe)? What are ketones? Ketones are end-products of fat metabolism in the body. That is, they are formed when fat is burned for energy by the muscles. Chemically, they are acids known as ketone bodies, and there are three types: beta-hydroxybutyric acid, aceto-acetic acid, and acetone. But you don’t have to be a chemist to understand what role they play in the body. To get to know ketones, it’s helpful to understand how your body burns fuel. A simple analogy is that of an automobile. For a car engine to run, the engine must burn fuel (gasoline), and when the fuel is burned, exhaust (carbon monoxide) is created. The carbon monoxide is the end-product of gasoline combustion. Your body also has an engine that must burn fuel to operate. The engine is muscle, and the fuel is fat, carbohydrate (glucose), and, in certain conditions, protein. When fat is burned, the “exhaust” is ketones, and when glucose is burned, the “exhaust” is lactic acid. Fat is more desirable as a fuel than glucose because there are more calories in a gram of fat (9 calories per gram) than there are in a gram of glucose (4 calories per gram), so you get more energy per gram of fat burned. In a sense, you could call fat a high-test fuel. But there is one catch to burning f Continue reading >>

Dr. Oz's 'miracle Fat Burner' Raspberry Ketone: Does It Work?

Dr. Oz's 'miracle Fat Burner' Raspberry Ketone: Does It Work?

THURSDAY, Feb. 9, 2012 — When surgeon, author, and host of The Dr. Oz Show Mehmet Oz speaks, the diet community listens. So when Dr. Oz did a segment Monday about dietary supplement raspberry ketone, it left us wanting to know more about what it is, what it does — and whether it’s safe. On the show, Dr. Oz touted over-the-counter raspberry ketone supplements as a “miracle fat-burner in a bottle.” More specifically, ketone supplements are concentrated doses of the chemical in raspberries that causes their distinct aroma. The substance has been approved by the FDA as “generally safe” since 1965, but ketones are experiencing a surge in popularity thanks to several recent studies analyzing their ability to burn stored fat. Research in both mice and humans have confirmed the all-natural supplement’s fat-burning powers, though many experts regard the data as preliminary, and suggest that people who want to lose weight should stick to good ole diet and exercise. On Dr. Oz, weight-loss expert Lisa Lynn explained how the product has helped many of her clients break through weight-loss plateaus when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and daily exercise. She recommends taking 100 or 200 mg supplements of ketone with breakfast and lunch daily, which she says is the chemical equivalent of about 90 pounds of fresh raspberries. “[With ketone] your body metabolically will go in the direction you want it to go in,” Dr. Oz said on the show. “I’m hoping this will get you over the hump to weight loss, and you use it for that purpose, not as a miracle pill.” Still, not everyone is as on-board with raspberry ketone as Dr. Oz. Diets in Review pharmacist Dr. Sarah G. Kahn says ketones work by regulating the body’s release of norepinephrine, which causes a body- Continue reading >>

A Keto Diet For Beginners

A Keto Diet For Beginners

A keto or ketogenic diet is a very low-carb diet, which turns the body into a fat-burning machine. It has many proven benefits for weight loss, health and performance, as millions of people have experienced already. 1 Here you’ll learn how to eat a keto diet based on real foods. You’ll find visual guides, recipes, meal plans and a simple 2-week get started program, all you need to succeed on keto. Get even more, custom meal plans, ask the experts and low-carb TV, with a free trial. 1. Introduction: What is ketosis? The “keto” in a ketogenic diet comes from the fact that it makes the body produce small fuel molecules called “ketones”. 2 This is an alternative fuel for the body, used when blood sugar (glucose) is in short supply. Ketones are produced if you eat very few carbs (that are quickly broken down into blood sugar) and only moderate amounts of protein (excess protein can also be converted to blood sugar). Ketones are produced in the liver, from fat. They are then used as fuel throughout the body, including the brain. The brain is a hungry organ that consumes lots of energy every day, 3 and it can’t run on fat directly. It can only run on glucose… or ketones. On a ketogenic diet, your entire body switches its fuel supply to run almost entirely on fat. Insulin levels become very low, and fat burning increases dramatically. It becomes easy to access your fat stores to burn them off. This is obviously great if you’re trying to lose weight, but there are also other less obvious benefits, such as less hunger and a steady supply of energy. When the body produces ketones, it’s said to be in ketosis. The fastest way to get there is by fasting – not eating anything – but nobody can fast forever. A keto diet, on the other hand, can be eaten indefinite Continue reading >>

What Are The Optimal Ketone Levels For A Ketogenic Diet?

What Are The Optimal Ketone Levels For A Ketogenic Diet?

If you’ve just started a ketogenic diet, then you’ll know that it can be really tough to figure out if you’re doing keto right. Am I eating too many carbs? Too much protein? Should I still be feeling tired? When is the fat burning supposed to start? It’s confusing, and one of the most confusing aspects is what your optimal ketone levels are supposed to be. Unlike most other diets, the ketogenic diet is designed to put your body into a state of ketosis in order to get your body to start burning ketones instead of the glucose that it usually burns when you eat a high carb standard American diet (SAD). But to know whether you’re in ketosis and whether your body has enough ketones circulating for you to use as energy instead of glucose, you have to measure your actual ketone levels and then determine whether they’re high enough for you to be reaping the benefits of the ketogenic diet. If you’ve tried searching for this information already, then you’ll know that there’s some controversy depending on which expert you follow. So in this article, we’ll tell you exactly what the different experts are suggesting are the optimal ketone levels as well as give you recommendations for what ketone levels you should be aiming for depending on your goals with a ketogenic diet. A Few Quick Notes Before We Start… If you’re looking for signs other than testing your actual body ketone levels as to whether you’re in ketosis or not, then please check out this article instead that provides you with signs you’re in ketosis. If you’re a type 1 diabetic, then this article is not for you and the optimal ketone levels suggested below are not applicable to you. Ketones: Secret Weapons In Fitness And The Fight Against Fat?

Ketones: Secret Weapons In Fitness And The Fight Against Fat?

If you’ve been hearing all the chatter about the latest health and fitness fad, you may well be wondering what all the fuss is about ketones. From diets to supplements, there are a lot of different ways to “go keto.” The ketogenic diet, which was first developed in the 1900s, bears striking similarities to the Paleo diet and the Atkins diet. This practice usually means trying to eat a high-protein and low-carb diet, so say goodbye to pasta and potatoes. In fact, ketones are chemicals made from the fat that your body burns for fuel when there are no carbohydrates left to consume, as the Atlantic reports. The thinking is that if you keep to a strict diet, or take a ketone supplement, you can try and achieve a consistent state of ketosis, which some say can help you lose weight or boost athletic performance. Could it be a secret weapon in the fight against fat? If you are a runner or a bicyclist looking for an edge, or a dieter desperate to shed those unwanted pounds, that may sound too good to be true. The hope is that you can put some wow into your workout. One company set to release a ketone energy drink has dubbed it the “fourth food group.” Of course, the taste of such supplements may also be a factor. One game Atlantic writer described the flavor this way: “It tasted like cough syrup that had been poured into a garbage bag and left in the sun.” Research into the efficacy of ketones has been conflicting. A study conducted last year, as the New York Times reported, found that a ketone supplement seemed to improve the cycling performance of a group of 39 trained bike riders. It should be noted that this study, which was conducted by Oxford University, looked at moderate levels of exercise and not competition-level intensity, but it added fuel to the hope t Continue reading >>

Raspberry Ketones: Natural Weight Loss Support!

Raspberry Ketones: Natural Weight Loss Support!

Raspberry Ketone is on trial for the murder of your excess fat. Should it be sentenced to your training and nutrition program? You be the judge! If you're a Dr. Oz fan, you've likely heard him discussing the health benefits of raspberry ketone. This supplement trend has spread quickly -- much like fascination with acai a few years ago. Raspberry ketone, however, isn't just a flash-in-the-pan movement. It seems to have enough science behind it to give it the official stamp of awesome. Razzle-Dazzle You like raspberries. And ketone sounds scientific and healthy. What more is there to know about raspberry ketone? A lot, as it turns out! As the name suggests, raspberry ketone comes from the fruit and is, in fact, the primary compound responsible for a raspberry's sweet smell. In addition, raspberry ketone contains a substance that is very similar to synephrine. Synephrine is often marketed as a powerful weight loss support supplement; it brings the sword and shield to the battle of the bulge. Synephrine has stimulatory effects that may help: promote increased metabolic rate, support a normal, healthy appetite, and support energy enhacement. With all three of these benefits working, you may eat less and burn more calories with regular exercise and a healthy, low-calorie diet. Because raspberry ketone resembles synephrine, it has been suggested that it may help support a similar weight-loss effect. It's also natural, and may help your weight-loss progression without the harsh side effects of synthetic diet compounds. Where Are You? Raspberry Ketone, also known in scientific circles as 4-(4-hydroxylphenyl) butan-2-one, has already made its way onto the market. As this ingredient becomes more popular, you can expect to see it in a number of fat-burning formulas. How Does It Hel Continue reading >>
