Ketosis For Weight Loss: Why Forskolin Keto Boost Is The Best Way

Ketosis For Weight Loss: Why Forskolin Keto Boost Is The Best Way

Forskolin has recently become a hot topic in the United States regarding its relationship with ‘The Ketogenic Diet’, and its role in helping the body to reach and maintain the state of Ketosis for weight loss. It was originally thought that Forskolin has little to do with the ketones that are dropped when a person’s metabolism is burning solely fat and no longer pulling reserves from insulin and glucose to fuel the body…but recent research proves otherwise. Clinical research has discovered that using a premium-quality Forskolin supplement such as Forskolin Ketoboost is extremely effective in helping a dieter easily and effectively reach Ketosis for weight loss! Why is Forskolin now claimed by many health professionals and dietitians to be the single best way to get your body into the state of Ketosis, and how exactly does it work to transform your body into a ‘fat burning machine’? Read on as we delve into the process of Ketosis, and explain to you the exact reason why Forskolin is the ultimate “Keto Diet advantage” that you have been looking for! What is Ketosis and How Does ‘The Ketogenic Diet’ Work? The Ketogenic Diet (Keto Diet) is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins Diet and similar low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called Ketosis. During Ketosis the body burns fat for fuel and weight loss/fat loss is optimally achieved. Ketosis for Weight Loss: How Forskolin Initiates Ketosis There are a few ways that you can reach the state of Ketosis for weight loss. Ketosis can occur by following a high-protein, low-carb diet plan, and by adapting a regular exercise routine. However, did you know Continue reading >>

Mistakes That Keto-warriors Commonly Make (fats, Alcohol, And Nutrient Deficiency)

Mistakes That Keto-warriors Commonly Make (fats, Alcohol, And Nutrient Deficiency)

Intro Update May 2017: My current thoughts are not in line with this post. Read more here. It’s been little over a year since I embarked on my keto lifestyle. The nutritional approach is only a small (but important) part of my life optimization strategy. I’ve been through a lot of trial and error while trying to improve my macro partitioning. If it weren’t for the research and the books that I read throughout, I’d still be stuck in the mud. While being active on many FB groups and spamming whenever I post something new on my blog here :), I’ve seen that many people want to rush into getting results, want quick fixes, shortcuts, which gets them into nothing but trouble. So, let me try and give you my perspective on a few of the common mistakes that I see. Too much fat, too much food, poor nutrition I believe (please do not assume I generalize) eating high-fat does not mean consuming 3,000 – 10,000 kcals per day out of which 85% or more should come from fat. Doing so will lead to a possible nutrient deficient state. I tried eating 3,000+ kcals the first few days to weeks after starting the keto journey in Oct. 2013. I couldn’t do it for the long-term, especially because I was forcing myself to over-consume food. It did not feel normal or natural. I think that eating keto-friendly foods should not rely upon consuming entire sticks of butter or pouring all sorts of oils and butter into your coffee. That’s very energy rich, nutrient poor. Your body can thrive on a very-high-fat-very-low-carb diet with literally consumption of < 10g of carbohydrates per day. While releasing fats from the adipose tissue and hydrolyzing TAGs, your body can create most of its essential supply of vitamins and minerals (that’s what happens in long-term starvation too). But, for G Continue reading >>

Why Ketosis Isn’t Healthy

Why Ketosis Isn’t Healthy

Without a doubt, the biggest health trend of 2017 is the ketogenic diet. Everyone is looking how to get “keto” for magical health benefits, but I’m here to tell you something different. Ketosis is not healthy. That’s right, I said it. Elevated ketone levels do not equal elevated health levels. A ketogenic diet certainly can be an incredible way of eating to reduce inflammation, improve energy, regulate metabolism, lose fat, and more. However, just because you’re in a state of ketosis, doesn’t mean you’re healthy. I see this all the time. People switch to a ketogenic diet, get a few immediate results, then plateau or eventually feel worse. What happened? Well, they ignored everything else they need to do in their life to promote health besides limiting carbohydrates. This is just one tiny part of the whole. Being in a state of ketosis isn’t a magic bullet. It can be a helpful tool and addition, but it is just one component. If you switched from a wood burning stove for heat (carbs) to an energy efficient solar panel system (ketones) but your house is still a dilapidated dumpster fire with no plumbing or walls, you’re not going to notice much of a difference living in it. Ketosis can be a great tool to help you achieve better health, but it’s not a shortcut. Want to have a ketogenic be part of a well-rounded approach to achieve the health you want? See where you stack up below for the main reasons people miss the mark on integrating ketosis in their life to improve their health. Not eating a healthy diet is just one of the many keto mistakes people make that prevent weight loss and kick you out of ketosis. Click here to find out if you’re making any of these mistakes that’ll prevent you from losing fat. Food Quality Over Quantity At this point, I Continue reading >>

Keto Supplement Reviews – Ultimate Guide To The Best Ketone Supplements

Filling a notebook with your carb intake on a daily basis is not the only way to achieve success on a ketonic diet. In fact, getting into ketosis can really be very tricky and a downright difficult process. A Ketogenic Diet forces your body to burn stored fats as energy. By eating food with low amount of carbs and a high amount of fat, your body will eventually get into a state of ketosis which can help you lose weight and can also improve brain function. With the growing popularity of the Ketogenic Diet, there is also a boom in Ketogenic Supplements. But how do you know which one is for you? How much will it cost? Are there any side effects in taking keto supplements? Knowing what the best keto supplement is also means knowing what kind of keto dieter you are. There are three main types of Keto Diets: Standard, Targeted, Cyclical, and High-Protein. The main difference lies in the amount of carbs you target to take on a daily basis. Standard Ketogenic Diet (SKD) is the most common type of keto diet and it is most recommended to those who are less active and want to lose weight. This means that you are taking about 20-50 grams of carbs daily. However, SKD allows the intake of an average amount of protein but relies on a heavy fat intake. So to put it mathematically, that would be 5% carbs, 20% protein, and 75% fat. Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD) refers to a varied carb intake within a week or a cycle. For example, you go on a 5-day low carb keto diet and then eat a normal amount of high carb for two days. The days vary depending on your activity levels and what you are trying to achieve. This approach is used frequently by bodybuilders and is not recommended for beginners. Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD) is for people that are engaged in high intensity activities and take c Continue reading >>

Ketogenetic Dieting Aids Look Too Good To Be True Because They Are

Ketogenetic Dieting Aids Look Too Good To Be True Because They Are

What happens when a Silicon Valley startup markets a mysterious drink with nonspecific health claims, couched in the aesthetic of a tech product launch? A disruptive twist to decades-old strategies used by the supplement industry to deceive consumers. The latest example is perhaps the most egregious. HVMN Ketone claims to be a performance-enhancing beverage that alters metabolism by flooding the bloodstream with a molecule called D-β-hydroxybutyrate(D-βHB). Chances are you’re familiar with someone who’s tried out the ketogenic diet, but HVMN promises you can achieve ketosis without dieting. However, the benefits of calorie restriction and exercise can’t be reduced down to a double-shot of D-βHB. “HVMN Ketone is the result of 10+ years of research and $60 million in funding,” states HVMN’s website. But time and money simply aren’t surrogates for validated and reproducible clinical results. Drinking ketones will certainly boost levels of ketone bodies in the blood; however, the actual effects of HVMN Ketone are fleeting, underwhelming, and embellished by the company. Because D-βHB is “generally recognized as safe,” HVMN can sell Ketone as a “foodstuff” with little or no evidence of athletic or cognitive benefit to consumers. A $33 bad taste And that’s a shame, because many people will be tricked into shelling out $33 per bottle, only to be left with a bad taste in their mouth and weight loss in their wallet. To contextualize that indictment, consider whence the emergence of low-carb and ketogenic diet trends evolved. Over the past 30 years, America’s obesity rate ballooned from about a sixth to over a third of the population. Total caloric consumption per person increased in people of all BMIs, with a macronutrient distribution shifting to pr Continue reading >>

Seriously, go follow me! If you have been following me, then you’ll know that a couple of weeks ago I wrapped up my #60daysketo experiment. I documented the whole journey, from dropping weight very quickly in the first two weeks, to being sidelined on day 18 by emergency surgery to take my appendix out, my first carb-up, and finally, my results from it. Of course, if you haven’t been following along, those posts are all still there, so feel free to scroll back and take a peek. Or, just search the hashtag #60daysketo to see everything I ate and did! I’m going to dive into tons of into about the why+how of my Ketogenic Experiment, but first I’m sure you wondering: What were my results on a Ketogenic Diet? I’m so glad you asked, because I’m super excited to share them with you! The picture on the left is after 75 days on Keto (I was very busy when the 60 days ended) and the picture on the right was before I began the experiment: So here’s the thing: the pictures obviously speak for themselves, even though I hated having my picture taken before going Keto, so I don’t have a ton of great ones to compare the “afters” to. The state of my midsection. The shape of my thighs. My face…. My arms. Just so many things, and even things you can see like not sleeping well, lacking energy, not much mental focus. I could go on, and on, and on. But, there are some pretty compelling stats about my weight and measurements that seal the deal that Keto was so, so good for me: I lost, in 60 days: 23 pounds 2.25 inches on each arm 3 inches on my waist 5.5 inches o Continue reading >>

Induce Ketosis At Will With Cheat Days?

Induce Ketosis At Will With Cheat Days?

Problems with the Ketogenic Diet Will Power Hard-core Ketogenic dieter snobbery Science to the rescue Quality of Life Problems with the Ketogenic Diet Will Power Anyone that has attempted a ketogenic diet will tell you that it is not for the “weak”. Getting into ketosis mean a strict ketogenic diet for at least 2-7 days. This varies from person to person based on how ketogenic your body has adapted. ANY deviation from the standard ketogenic diet will simply throw you out of ketosis. The good news is that there are several tasty items on the ketosis diet like butter and bacon. Carb lovers WILL have a very hard time. The simple fact is this… Most people do not have the will power to do even the most basic diet and they definitely do not have the determination and will power to do the ketogenic diet. Hard-core Ketogenic dieter snobbery Those that have the fortitude to do well on a strict diet typically wear this as a badge of honor. They will often look down on others and criticize their lack of will power. Their mantra is that “no shortcuts exist” and the only path to success is major discipline and misery. If this is how you feel, then more power to you. For the rest of us mere mortals, we would like to have our cake and eat it too. Cheat Days There are many effective diets that allow a cheat day. They cheat day can be extremely effective because it gives something to look forward to. If you have ever experienced the cheat day phenomenon then you know how enjoyable and disgusting at the same time this can be. The psychology is interesting because you have been disciplined and you do not want to set back your progress, but you really want that pizza or [ insert a item that you are not allowed to have] Immediately after you gorge yourself on these forbidden foods Continue reading >>

7 Reasons You’re Not Getting The Most From A Ketogenic Diet

7 Reasons You’re Not Getting The Most From A Ketogenic Diet

All fats aren’t created equal. They may share the same caloric values at 9 Kcal/gram, but their functional roles can differ quite significantly. For starters their structural conformations differ, which affect the way they behave in your body. Saturated fats for example are quite rigid structures, and form part of the membranes of your cells. So do polyunsaturated fats, but they tend to be more fluid. Striking a balance between these fats in your diet is important for cell signalling and communication, which can ultimately affect metabolic function at a larger level – say, like in Type II Diabetes. Its important to note that eating a lot of these foods (as well as a lot of meat, eggs and dairy) also provide a generous dose of Omega-6 (ω6) Fatty Acids. Whilst these are essential, in excess they can be pro-inflammatory. They also share the same set of enzymes needed to convert Omega 3 (ω3) Fatty Acids into their anti-inflammatory derivatives. Heavy consumption of ω6 can reduce the conversion of ω3’s. They act like a see saw, and require balance. So if your goal with a ketogenic diet is to tackle inflammation, be mindful of ω6 consumption. Secondly, fats differ in their number of carbon atoms, which ultimately determines the length of their chains. You’ve probably heard of MCT’s I’m sure, and that they are a great source of fuel. Thats because of their 6-10 carbon chain lengths. They require no assistance in crossing from the intestine into circulation and diffuse rapidly across its membrane. They are also processed through the liver, which is basically a shortcut compared to how long and short chain triglycerides enter the bloodstream (via the lymphatic system). When it comes to oxidation (burning) they are the first ones to the mitochondria, and need no Continue reading >>

How To Get Back Into Ketosis After Binging On Holiday Carbs

How To Get Back Into Ketosis After Binging On Holiday Carbs

With Christmas and New Years being a time filled with a lots of bread, pasta, cookies, beer, and everyone’s favorite dish, it’s going to be very hard to stick to a ketogenic diet. While it’s completely possible to make keto-approved foods or to stick to the protein and zero carb snacks that you might have, it’s a little unrealistic. Especially if you’re going to a event or a family party, with social pressure not being on your side – there’s a very good chance you’re going to end up eating carbs. Recently, during Christmas, I probably ate at LEAST 400 grams of carbs. Yes, might sound like overkill for some of you but the fact of the matter is, besides the holidays – I’m ALWAYS in ketosis and I’m always a low body fat percentage. This means my body can process carbohydrates quite well. This also means I can get back into ketosis very quickly. The more you practice the ketogenic lifestyle, the easier it is for your body to enter a state of ketosis after being knocked out of it. Anyways, I ate tons of pasta, rice, cake, cookies, a giant italian sub, and drank some beer. The day after, I followed the workout protocol I am about to give you and I was already back to burning ketones the day after. Keep in mind, it might take you just a little longer than me but, there is no doubt in my mind that by following what I am about to tell you, it will be the fastest way for you to get back into ketosis and start burning fats for fuel. Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself First off, eating a ketogenic lifestyle is exactly what it sounds like – it’s a lifestyle. There’s going to be times where you are 100% ketogenic all the time and feeling great – then there’s going to be times where all you want to do is eat a bowl of pasta or a sandwich. Here’s the thin Continue reading >>

The Ketogenic Diet Now Comes In A Tiny Bottle, But Dietitians Are Skeptical

The Ketogenic Diet Now Comes In A Tiny Bottle, But Dietitians Are Skeptical

HVMN Don’t want to fast to try the ultra-trendy, high-fat, low-carb ketogenic diet? A San Francisco startup thinks you should take a shot of its elixir instead — even though the science behind it is dubious, experts say. The supplement company HVMN (that’s Silicon Valley-shorthand for “human”) unveiled its newest product on Monday: HVMN Ketone, a 2.3-ounce vial of a substance called ketone ester. It’s supposed to almost immediately put you in ketosis, a metabolic state where the body is forced to burn fats instead of carbohydrates. By loading the body with “an ultra-efficient form of fuel,” as the company says, it’s supposed to help you perform better in workouts and think more clearly. But even though HVMN says the drink is “proven to improve athletic performance and recovery,” nutrition experts say it is highly unlikely that a ketone supplement can single-handedly put you in ketosis. They also say there is little evidence that being in ketosis helps athletes. The public won’t get its first taste of it until next month. But registered dietitian Ben Sit is skeptical. “I have not yet found one ketone ester supplement that has been able to successfully put someone into the state of ketosis, no matter what dosage they take,” Sit, president of Evolved Sport and Nutrition, told BuzzFeed News. HVMN, formerly known as Nootrobox, is among a handful of consumer product startups that bill themselves as part of the loosely defined biohacking movement. Backed by tech venture capitalists, these companies, which include Bulletproof Coffee and Soylent, hawk food and supplements to busy, health-conscious people who have a quantify-everything mindset. HVMN, which raised $2 million in 2015 from Andreessen Horowitz (also a BuzzFeed investor), is best-known for Continue reading >>
