3 Supplements To Make The Keto Diet Easier

3 Supplements To Make The Keto Diet Easier

When you cut out carbs on a ketogenic diet, you force your body to run on ketones—which come from stored body fat—for fuel. This process, known as ketosis, is extremely effective for getting leaner, and offers a host of other health benefits as well. The only downside: The first week or so of a ketogenic diet can make you hate life itself. Most keto dieters report feeling deprived, lethargic, and just plain cranky untill their metabolism makes the switch. In fact, it’s often referred to as the “low-carb flu.” Fortunately, science has a solution: Ketone-supplying supplements that can smooth your transition to an ultra-low-carb lifestyle and help keep you there—and you won’t have to sacrifice any intensity in the gym in the process. Keto Weight Loss Review

For the readers in Canada, this one is for you. We had requests about this popular fat burner supplement in Canada, and we saw a big claim by BPI Sports: “The First Ever Ketogenic Fat Burner”. Claimed to promote: Fat loss Endurance Focus The marketing for this fat burner focuses heavily on the fact it’s supposed to be the “first ever ketogenic fat burner”. This is interesting, as ‘keto’ fat burners haven’t become the ‘next big thing’, so this might suggest they’re not as good as other supplements… Anyway, we’ll analyze each ingredient inside this fat burner to see how good it is. About The Company BPI Sports are a USA-based supplements company that was founded in 2010. Since then, they’ve been awarded prizes on bodybuilding.com and have produced some popular products. But you’re here to read about KETO Weight Loss; so we’ll get into the details below. The Ingredients and How They Work The first thing we noticed about KETO Weight Loss, was that it contained a proprietary blend. This is bad, as you’re not shown the exact dosage of each ingredient inside – all you’re given is the overall dosage (2.5g). Why is this bad? Well, this increases your risk of side effects such as jitters, crashes and itchy skin – which are commonly associated with pre workouts for this reason. Anyway, let’s examine what’s inside this fat burner. Not much is known about this ingredinet, apart from it’s contained in coconut oil. One study showed that beta-hydroxybutyrate is able to prevent blood sugar spikes – which can promote fat loss. However, there hasn’t been enough studies that’ve replicated this result – making it an unreliable ingredient. We won’t analyze each form of Beta-Hydroxytutyrate, as all of them are unreliable for the same rea Continue reading >>

Weight Loss: This Supplement Could Help You Lose 2lbs A Week When Added To Your Diet Plan

A diet plan that is propped up by natural supplements can help dieters to shed the pounds they are struggling to use. Fibre can particularly help people to lose weight because it helps them to feel fuller - effectively suppressing the appetite. Natural forms of fibre, such as that in a baked potato (with the skin left on), fill your stomach more effectively than other food types. Eating lots of food high in fibre is the best option, however, a supplement can also have the filling effect. Weight loss can be aided by a supplement that contains a specific fibre. The fibre, called glucomannan, makes dieters feel fuller because it takes longer to digest. This means that dieters eat less calories, aiding their weight loss and keeping hunger pangs at bay. Various studies have shown that the supplement has this effect in those who use it to boost their diet plan. Scientists at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Tromsø, Norway, recorded the process of one hundred and seventy six men and women who were given either the glucomannan supplement or a placebo. The dieters also ate a diet of 1,200 calories per day. They experts said: “Glucomannan induced body weight reduction in healthy overweight subjects.” [sic] They added: “ However, there were no significant differences between the different fibers in their ability to induce weight reduction, which was approximately 0.8 kg/week.” This is the equivalent of 1.7lbs a week. Mon, April 17, 2017 How to lose weight - 10 weight loss tips from hot baths to eating with a man. A second study from the International Association for the Study of Obesity found similar results from using the fibre. The added fibre in the diet did have an effect, although according to this research the effects were smaller. The scientists fo Continue reading >>

How To Use Exogenous Ketones

How To Use Exogenous Ketones

Exogenous Ketones were introduced in 2014, about the same time as I was recovering from having my daughter, and therefore very concerned about weight loss. But let’s back up for a bit, because if you’re here reading about Exogenous Ketones, and how to drink ketones for weight loss, let’s start at the beginning so you have a firm foundation to build if you do decided to take a ketone supplement for weight loss. First of all, Exogenous Ketones (we’ll get to exactly what those are in just a sec…hang in there) were introduced as the Ketogenic Diet started gaining popularity among the health and fitness community, as well as with the scientific community. Why? Well, it’s all about health. For so long, doctors and researchers have preached the benefits of a low-fat diet to prevent and correct all sort of things like heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, etc. But….they may have been wrong. I am not a doctor, and do not have a medical degree, but I’ve done my homework, and I’ve lived (and am currently living) a ketogenic lifestyle. So I’ve done this, I’ve read loads and loads about it, and I’ve even been able to help many of my friends use the things I’ve learned to lead healthier lives. But, as with anything concerning your health, please make sure you have a discussion with your doctor before making a drastic change. Related: I lost 23 pounds in 60 days of Keto. Here’s how. Ok, legal stuff over, here’s what a Ketogenic Diet is: A Ketogenic Diet, also know as the Keto Diet, is a very high fat, very low carb, moderate protein diet that is very popular because it can cause you to lose body fat very fast, and study after study after study has linked Keto with benefits against cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and more. Exogenous Ketones Pros And Cons

Exogenous Ketones Pros And Cons

What Are Exogenous Ketones? Exogenous Ketones (EK for short) are ketone supplements and by definition, a supplement is a thing added to something else in order to complete or enhance it. Think about it like building muscle, good supplements can enhance your results, but if you don’t eat right and exercise, supplements are just useless. You can’t just sit on the couch to watch TV, eat potato chips all day and drink some supplements and expect to gain muscle. A supplement is not a miracle. It’s just an addition and before you add it to your diet, you need to get the basic right first, which is dieting and exercise in the case of building muscles. The supplements are not going to lift the heavy weights for you. You do! Back to the case of EK. If you cheat on your keto diet and eat a ton of carbs, and you want to use EK as a way to feel better and less guilty about it, it’s probably not a smart choice because EK won’t do anything for you (more on this later). However, if you are eating LCHF and somehow you’re not feeling your best, EK can be helpful and we will explain more below. Our Approach We own and manage a few growing Keto Facebook groups with tens of thousands of members and we often see the exogenous ketones topic comes up. We have seen a lot of confusion and criticism as well as support from our members. Most of the complaints are normally because of the expensive price of some products, the lack of understanding about what the product is and what it does to your body or because some sellers/promoters try to bend the truth to get you buy their products or recruit you into their multi level marketing team. We recently ran a survey in our private group and asked people if they have used EK before and if it worked for them. Here’s the result: Many peopl Continue reading >>

7-keto: Supplement To Speed Metabolism?

7-keto: Supplement To Speed Metabolism?

The supplement 7-keto DHEA is being widely promoted as a means of revving up metabolism in order to lose weight, specifically belly fat. Other claims for the product are equally extravagant – that it can improve lean body mass, build muscle, increase thyroid gland activity, boost the immune system, improve memory and reduce the signs of aging. Very little scientific evidence backs up any of these claims. DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a hormone produced in the adrenals and is available in synthetic versions over-the-counter. The supplement 7-keto-DHEA is a derivative of DHEA, but unlike its “parent” hormone, it does not affect sex hormone levels in the body. (I do not recommend that anyone take DHEA without medical supervision. It poses an increased risk of heart attack and breast and prostate cancer.) Proponents say 7-keto DHEA promotes weight loss by speeding metabolism – the rate at which the body burns fat. However, we have limited knowledge of this effect since there have been very few clinical trials of the supplement and no long-term investigations have been performed. All of the studies reported so far have been quite small; the largest included only 30 participants when it ended. As far as the effect of 7-keto DHEA on weight loss is concerned, the supplement has been shown to increase resting metabolic rate in participants who already were on weight-loss diets and were engaging in regular exercise. In the study, which lasted eight weeks, participants who took 100 mg of 7-keto DHEA twice a day lost about 6.3 pounds compared to a little over two pounds for those who received a placebo. Based on what I’ve read, taking 200 mg of 7-Keto DHEA daily seems safe enough. None of the studies found any significant side effects. However, since all of the studies Continue reading >>

How To Increase Fat Burning During Ketosis

How To Increase Fat Burning During Ketosis

Ketosis is also known as the body's process for generating energy by producing ketones when insufficient carbohydrates are available in the diet. In other words, a low-carb diet is called ketogenic because it forces the body to use fat for energy. Ketosis is a very effective means of burning fat, but there are certain techniques for increasing fat-burning through exercise and nutrition. How many carbs should you eat per day? When is the best time to eat them? What kinds of carbs are best? And what natural supplements prevent muscle loss caused by extreme ketogenic diets? Follow a few basic rules to answer these questions and achieve your fat-burning goals. Video of the Day Take in 30 to 50 g of carbohydrates per day, depending on your individual metabolism. Typically, this carb-depletion phase lasts five days and is followed by two days of carb-loading. For example, having 100 to 200 g of carbs per day for two days. This carb-cycling strategy helps to prevent dieting plateaus in which the body stops burning fat in response to what it perceives as starvation. Stack your carbohydrates around your workouts. Carbs are needed for two reasons: muscle recovery and energy. One good strategy is to take in half of your carbs before your workout and the other half after. Some people choose to take all of them before or after. Either way, taking in your carbohydrates in the morning will allow the body to switch into ketosis during the day, burning more fat. Limit resistance training workouts to 60 minutes to control cortisol levels. The stress hormone cortisol, part of the fight-or-flight response, slows down fat-burning and metabolizes muscle tissue. After about an hour of training, muscle-building hormones plummet, and cortisol increases significantly. Sometimes, training harder Continue reading >>

5 Supplements For Ketogenic Dieters

5 Supplements For Ketogenic Dieters

When you make the decision to embrace ketogenic dieting—or "go keto"—you need fat and plenty of it. After all, all those calories that you used to get from carbs have to come from somewhere, right? And as Dr. Jacob Wilson pointed out in his "Ketogenic FAQ" article, eating excessive protein (at or above .67-.81 grams per pounds of body weight) can actually produce enough glucose to kick you out of the desired state of ketosis. Where the fat comes from, well, that's up to you. For many people, bacon, avocado, and heavy cream can found on the menu eaten at almost any meal, and never do you need to think twice about choosing egg yolks again. But even with the mouth-watering menu, the adaptation period to a ketogenic diet can be challenging. Many have felt compelled to quit before actually entering ketosis—which is when the pure fat-burning and benefits begin! These three supplement staples can help you make it through the dreaded "induction flu" that many experience during the early days of ketogenic diet, and help you and come out stronger and leaner on the other side! 1. Electrolytes Transitioning your body's preferred fuel sources from carbohydrates to fat can be tough. Not only does it take time to do so, but along the way, you're likely to have a few headaches, perhaps some nausea, and for some, day-long fatigue. This is the so-called "induction flu." As carbs get kicked to the curb, so do key electrolytes such as sodium and potassium. To prevent headaches and fatigue, consider an electrolyte supplement. If you're dehydrated or low on electrolytes, all of these symptoms are going to be worse. Compounding the quandary is that many people end up cutting out electrolytes such as sodium and potassium as their carb consumption goes down. Particularly if you're trainin Continue reading >>

TESTIMONY OF THE DAY From a phone client who is a body builder and was stuck at a plateau: “Good morning!! I have great news!! Even though I am still waiting for the results from my blood work I weighed myself this morning and I lost 3.5 pounds since Wednesday!! I don’t know why I wasn’t losing weight before I haven’t changed anything. I have been feeling great too, I don’t think I’ve had anxiety at all this past week!! Thank you!!” Jessica If you want to get past your plateau, click HERE to get started! You deserve it! CLA and Weight Loss CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) helps increase lean muscle mass. It is a fatty acid that is found in some of the foods we eat. At one time, beef, turkey, lamb and dairy were exceptional sources; however, when we changed their diet from grass to grains, the levels of CLA dramatically decreased in meat and dairy products. If CLA is present, it is found in the fatty portion of milk. Drinking skim milk will never provide the benefits of CLA. CLA not only reduces fat but also preserves the muscle tissues. The most amazing part is not that it makes fat cell smaller but it prevents a small cell from becoming fatter. A low calorie diet often helps a person lose weight for a short period, but once the cravings take over and the diet comes to a halt, that person is even more likely to gain back the weight. CLA seems to stop this undesired weight gain from happening because it causes you to hold onto valuable muscles during weight loss. Studies show that CLA is also helpful in lowering blood sugar levels. In one study almost 2/3 of the volunteers had a reduction of blood glucose level and triglyceride levels. This supplement helps in reducing fat at a faster rate. At least 3.4 grams per day must be taken in order for it to show its Continue reading >>

Best Keto Supplements To Take For Weight Loss

Best Keto Supplements To Take For Weight Loss

Supplements can help promote good health or fill in any “gaps” we might be missing on a ketogenic diet. We’ve already talked about vitamins and minerals you may need to supplement on keto, but what about supplements specifically for weight loss? Below, we’ll cover the top supplements used by those eating ketogenic for weight loss and how to best use them. Exogenous Ketones Exogenous ketones are externally-made ketones you consume, meaning they aren’t created inside the body. Taking them can help you get into ketosis faster. And the faster you get into ketosis, the more you’ll aid weight loss efforts. There are three ketones created when we’re in ketosis, but beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) is the form used in exogenous ketones. By taking BHB, you’re giving your body an instant supply of ketones to use for fuel. They can also help you avoid some of the side effects of transitioning from eating carbs to eating fats. With the right exogenous ketones, you can get into ketosis more quickly than just eating a ketogenic diet alone (but you still must be eating for ketosis). However, not all ketone products are created equal, so let’s talk about the differences. How to Find Quality Exogenous Ketones Don’t just Google and purchase the first exogenous ketones product you find. The details matter. Here’s what to consider: Clean ingredients. Some products include a bunch of artificial flavors, fillers, gums, or binders. In fact, some will even contain carbs! This is neither good for you or good for ketosis. There’s a reason Perfect Keto Base has absolutely NO fillers, gums, sugars, or carbs—just pure ketones. 11.38 grams per serving, in fact. Quality ingredients. Source and quality matter! There’s no point in spending your hard-earned money on a ketone produc Continue reading >>

Avoid This Ketogenic Rip-off

Avoid This Ketogenic Rip-off

The Truth About Exogenous Ketones Ketones are all the rage among low carbers. And like most things in nutrition and performance, we've found a way to get them in supplement form so we don't have to do any actual work. What are ketones? They're a byproduct of ketosis caused by the process of converting fat to fuel. Your body makes them when it's in a calorie or carb restricted state. What do they do? The body and brain can use them as fuel without the presence of glucose in the blood. And now, you can take ketone supplements (salts and esters), known as exogenous ketones, without actually restricting anything. According to those promoting this nasty-tasting supplement, that means you can have a brain and body fuelled by ketones, along with all of the supposed health benefits that come with running on fat. Well, don't fall for it. Exogenous Ketones = Endogenous Fat Storage? The problem with ketone supplementation (EXOgenous) is that it's not even close to the same thing as being in ketosis (ENDOgenous ketone production). And just like the butter-blended-into-coffee trend, it's a farce. Ketones may be depressing dieters' hunger and giving them a hit of energy and cognitive enhancement, but it's INHIBITING their ability to burn fat, providing zero nourishment, and doing nothing for their metabolic health. There's an assortment of evidence suggesting that it's probably making things worse. Think of exogenous ketones kind of like alcohol. When they're consumed, everything is stored and nothing else is burned. So any lipolysis (fat burning) that would be taking place is halted; any glucose and fatty acids in your blood that were circulating are stored; and the ingested ketones are burned until there aren't any left. More importantly, this clearance of alternative fuels (glucos Continue reading >>

Is The Ketogenic Diet Right For You? Nutritionists Weigh In

You may be hearing a lot about the ketogenic diet as a way to slim down while noshing on butter and heavy cream. This way of eating is suddenly hot among venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, who believe it will help them live longer and healthier, CNBC reports. Some praise the high-fat/ultra low-carb plan for helping them to lose weight and have energy all day long. Other advocates say it finally helped them to get control of their body. How does it work and could it help you? We asked Bonnie Taub-Dix, a registered dietitian nutritionist and author of “Read It Before You Eat It”; and Keri Glassman, nutritionist, registered dietitian and TODAY Tastemaker. To start with, both said they would never advise the ketogenic diet for weight loss. “Cutting out carbs is usually an invitation to overeat them at another point,” Taub-Dix said. “For a diet where you’re looking to lose weight, look good and feel good… I would not recommend a diet like this.” “For safe and effective weight loss, the carb reduction is too extreme,” Glassman added. RELATED: Read inspiring stories of ordinary people slimming down in TODAY's My Weight-Loss Journey Here’s what you need to know: What is the ketogenic diet? It’s a diet fine-tuned in the 1920s to help treat epilepsy. It does help to control seizures in some children, but it’s not recommended for adults “mostly because the restricted food choices make it hard to follow,” the Epilepsy Foundation says. The diet has just recently begun to be touted as a weight loss plan, Glassman noted. She described it as eating “mostly fat with a teeny bit of protein and carbs.” How does it work? Your body normally relies on carbohydrates for energy. It breaks them down into glucose, which is your main source of fuel. If that Continue reading >>
