Keto And Cbd Helped This Disabled Vet Lose Over 150 Pounds

Two of the biggest trends on the rise: the ketogenic diet and CBD. What happens when you add both to your lifestyle at once? According to Jason Genet, life-changing magic. Jason: Before As a disabled vet with liver disease, Jason has suffered from a lot of pain, and as he told POPSUGAR, "CBD is the only thing I can take." Adding the all-natural, exceptionally powerful herbal supplement has "allowed [him] to get moving." The combination of diet and natural pain relief has been transformative. "The keto diet and CBD are giving me a new lease on life and more time with my kids and wife." It's been a miracle for Jason's pain levels; he can walk for miles and bike for even more miles, and he's joined a gym to help him stay active on this journey. Just 50 pounds shy of his goal weight, Jason is loving the new turn his life has taken. "I eat amazing, too," he said. "That is probably the best part of the new me — I am not eating foods I don't like or don't want." Here's more on how this incredible man has taken control of his health and his life — not just for himself, but for his family. POPSUGAR: What made you decide to start your weight-loss journey? Jason Genet: When the doctor said I had a diseased liver from being overweight, it was a culmination of what I knew — you know you are fat. You know it because they do not give you a booth at your favorite restaurant even if you ask for privacy. You get glares and prayers from people hoping that you are not sitting next to them on a plane. The oncologist was blunt: "Jason, you are dying; you are on the verge of damaging your liver to the point of no return. You won't qualify for a liver transplant. You will need to make changes or make plans for the end." What came up were these three things: keto, no drinking, and stay aw Continue reading >>

What I’ve Learned After 1-year, 35 Lbs Weight Loss On Keto Diet

What I’ve Learned After 1-year, 35 Lbs Weight Loss On Keto Diet

This November marks my one year anniversary eating low-carb, high-fat. It got me to think about the most important lessons learned. One year ago, I had no idea where this path would lead. I was doing my best to adapt to the keto diet but there were plenty of days where self-confidence was lacking. As you can see from the before and after weight loss photo above, I’m in better shape today than I’ve ever been!* This is also the longest that I’ve maintained weight loss than ever before. First, let’s take a look at the hard data that I’ve tracked… Monthly Numbers Here’s a few noteworthy takeaways: Starting Weight: 176 lbs Current Weight: 141 lbs Avg Daily Calories: 1775 kcal Avg Daily Fat: 135 grams Avg Daily Protein: 85 grams Avg Daily Carbs: 50 grams (total, not net) Macro Breakdown: 70% Fat / 19% Protein / 11% Carbohydrate Avg Morning Blood Sugar: 86 mg/dL For the first 6 months, I counted macros and calories for everything I ate. Once I was close to my goal weight, I stopped tracking to see if I could manage without that form of accountability. Safe to say, my weight has remained in the 140-143 lb range for the last 6 months. The 3 Phases of Weight Loss My past weight loss failures and success taught me about the 3 phases that you must conquer to achieve your goals. Phase #1 – You Decide “This is Enough” Those who lose weight always start with a deciding moment where they finally admit that the way they are currently living isn’t healthy. You want to improve your life, both physically and mentally, and you take action. It’s rare you don’t hear that singular “moment” when listening to someone else’s weight loss story, my own included. If I had to boil it down to one emotion, it was disgust. You realize all the mistakes you made to get to t Continue reading >>

How The Keto Diet Helped Manuela Lose 80 Pounds And Achieve Her

How The Keto Diet Helped Manuela Lose 80 Pounds And Achieve Her "dream Goal"

Earlier this year, Manuela Fung had a scary doctor's visit. She learned she weighed her absolute heaviest and her "health was declining at an alarming rate." That was when she decided to research different diets she could potentially adopt in order to gain her life back. "I decided on the keto lifestyle to face a lifetime of food addictions, and being a stay-at-home mom to three small kids time is precious," Manuela, also known as ketomammaofthree on Instagram, told POPSUGAR. Little did she know the keto diet would be this transformative for her. "My keto journey began on May 19, 2017, and to date, I've lost 80.8 pounds," she shared. "When I started, I was bursting out of a size-18 jeans. I'm now enjoying life in a size six, and I'm the smallest I've ever been in my adult life." Although these numbers are wildly impressive, Manuela gained so much more than weight loss and a smaller dress size. Her 40th birthday is just around the corner, and she knows she's going to approach her 40s being in the best shape of her life. She's happier and healthier than ever, and she's thrilled that her three kids get the best version of their mother. Manuela explained what the keto diet is and why it worked so well for her. "Keto is basically transitioning your body into using fat as fuel instead of carbs. This is done through reducing your carb consumption," she said. She followed the advice of Dr. Eric Westman (professor of medicine at Duke University, author, and expert on the keto diet) and kept her daily carb intake below 20 grams and ate moderate amounts of protein and fat. She only ate when she was "physically hungry," and she found that the fewer carbs she ate, the less hungry she felt all the time. "In a fat-adapted state, it's like keeping the fire going with a nice oak log tha Continue reading >>

My Story: How I Lost 77 Pounds

My Story: How I Lost 77 Pounds

My story begins many years ago. I started my health improvement and weight loss journey in 2008 after a series of health scares forced me to look at my bad diet and non-existent exercise habits. My blood pressure and fasting blood sugar were both elevated, and I started having issues with blurred vision and pain in my feet. That really scared me, as my mother had been diabetic before she died at the age of 63, and I did not want to end up dying young and in pain as she had. So I started paying attention to how I felt after I ate. Armed with my observations, I began to change my diet. At first, I cut out the obvious processed junk foods, and started choosing real foods instead. Out went the boxed and canned stuff, and I started eating fresh meats and vegetables instead. Although my diet was much lower in carbs at this point, and I had removed many of the problematic foods, I still got my chocolate fix in every week, and I was eating bread or corn chips occasionally. Legionella Testing Lab - High Quality Lab Results CDC ELITE & NYSDOH ELAP Certified - Fast Results North America Lab Locations legionellatesting.com Six months into these changes, I felt so much better, I decided to write a website and share the information I had learned about what constituted real food and the difference it can make in your health. I called the website Healthy Eating Politics, since what I had learned about “healthy eating” was the direct opposite of what the federal government and mainstream medicine was saying. I discovered that the low fat, whole grain, high carb diet being pushed by the USDA was making people sick, and that cholesterol and saturated fat were NOT evil foods. The lie that cholesterol and saturated fat cause heart disease was doing a lot of damage to the average America Continue reading >>

Pruvit Keto Os Review

Pruvit Keto Os Review

I'm Mike and I've been a personal trainer for over 10 years and I first heard about ketosis way back before it was even a big thing. I've been more or less on the ketogenic diet full-time ever since. When Keto-OS came out, people had been talking about Keto-OS being the go-to product for quickly getting into ketosis and even allowing you to cheat. Me being a skeptic, I set out on a 3 month strict review project, to get to the bottom of whether or not Keto-OS actually works. After months of testing blood samples and body calibrations, I am about to give you the conclusion of what I found from my review down below. KETO OS is the latest product from Pruvit and stands for "Ketone Operating System." This product is an exogenous ketone drink, which means it may provide a multitude of benefits, ranging from athletic performance enhancement, more efficient weight loss, cancer prevention, cognitive improvement and anti-inflammatory properties, among other things. Its ability to essentially trick the body into burning fat instead of carbs (a state known as ketosis) can also result in more rapid weight loss than you may have thought possible. This is what Pruvit had to say: Keto-OS is your “ketone operating system”. It was one of the First Therapeutic Ketone Supplements on the market. The proprietary blend is owned by Prüvit and is Dr. Approved, Lab Tested, University backed and the technology in Keto-OS is patent pending, developed by one of the most world renown Dr.’s and experts on Ketosis. Prüvit was the first company approved by University of South Florida to acquire the sub-license rights to use this patent pending technology. It is a powder that you mix with 8=10 oz. of water. Keto-OS is Pruvit’s flagship product and is the first product the company sold when it Continue reading >>

Weight Loss: Man Lost Five Stone In Less Than A Year On This Popular Diet

Sharing before and after transformation pictures to Reddit, poster ‘LeftyKreh’ explained he was 19 stone before starting his weight loss journey. But just 11 months later, he was down to just over 13 stone - and it was all thanks to following the keto diet. Explaining he had “dieted before” but nothing worked, LeftyKreh went on to detail what spurred him to finally lose the weight. He wrote: “I have two young kiddos and a very supporting wife, and the thought of keeling over at 40 because I was overweight and them having to be the kids at school who's dad died because he couldn't say no to Cool Ranch Doritos wrecked me. “Every experience when you are fat is miserable. Meeting new people (they are going to immediately think I'm huge), trying on clothes (god everything is too small, they hardly have anything that fits me, that means 99 per cent of the people who come here are in better shape than I am), going out to eat (everyone is noticing how much I, the fat guy is eating), etc etc. “Every day is a slog until you put your head on the pillow and rinse and repeat.” Starting his keto diet just before the New Year, LeftyKreah revealed what he ate day to day. He said: “Typical day: Morning: Bulletproof Coffee. Lunch: Microwave heated leftovers (steak, deer meat, Quick Eat hamburgers, sausages). Dinner: Chicken/steak/fish/dark veggies (broccoli, asparagus, spinach). Snacks: Cheese sticks. Thu, November 23, 2017 Diet plans for weight loss: From Atkins to Paleo. “My calorie counts would generally hover around 1800-2200 a day, and I would rarely if ever go above 10g of carbs.” As well as keto, he tried intermittent fasting as part of his push to lose weight. Explaining how he worked this in to his life, he wrote: “While I can't attest to whether the ‘f Continue reading >>

Ketogenic Diet Weight Loss Results | I Lost 30lbs In 6 Weeks

My Ketogenic Diet Weight Loss Results Before I talk about the ketogenic diet, I would like to give you a little background about myself. A few years ago I had manage to eat and drink my way up to 280lbs. Even though I have a goofy smile in the picture below, it was a very depressing time in my life. The only thing I was worried about when I got off work was beer and unhealthy foods. I could go to Long John Silver’s and eat eight pieces of fish, eight shrimp, a large box of fries and still look for more food to eat. The last thing on my mind was any type of diet or exercise. I was about 265lbs in the photo below… Uhggg!! Fast forward a few years, I went through a separation and ended up homeless. I decided to quit drinking, start working out and of course, find a job… At the time of this next photo I was about 250lbs and had been sober for two months. I had been working out for about a month, doing a total body workout three days a week. When I would workout, I would do three sets of ten reps per body part. That’s all I remembered from high school when I played football…lol About 250lbs As far as my diet goes, I just did what I was taught in the past about eating healthy. It was basically high carbs, low fats, fruits and veggies. I remembered the old food pyramids back when I was a kid and all I could think of was… “Fat is Bad”… It made sense… Why would I eat fat if I was trying to lose fat? As you notice at the top of the pyramid, Fats and Oils are to be used sparingly. And from looking at the bottom of the pyramid, I can eat all of the bread, rice, cereal and pasta I wanted. So that’s exactly what I did. I was eating tons of bread from sandwiches because most of the deli slices were low fat. I’m talking loads of spaghetti, lasagna, mac and chees Continue reading >>

My Ketogenic Diet Success Story – How I Lost 45 Pounds Eating Bacon

My Ketogenic Diet Success Story – How I Lost 45 Pounds Eating Bacon

Gaining weight wasn’t something I was horribly worried about until living on my own during the college years. The idea of a ketogenic diet was years off from my mind at that point as I cooked and ate whatever sounded good at the moment with no second thoughts. It wasn’t until I left for college and ate all of the easy-to-cook pre-packaged meals and pulled all-nighters weekly that the weight started to creep. Don’t even get me started on how it packed on when I discovered bars after turning 21. A refreshing moscow mule sounds fine and dandy until the sugar and calories do their work on your waistline! I talk more about my breaking points before deciding to go Keto in this blog post, as well as a timeline to my weight loss in my About Me section. But, I realized recently that I never explained to people: Why a Ketogenic Diet? I’ve tried nearly every popular diet there is to no avail. Take a look at this picture below. The picture on the far left is near my heaviest weight in 2015. Moving along a good few months, the middle picture was a progress picture after 4 strict months of working out 3x a week with a personal trainer and sticking heavily to a high-protein, moderate carb, and low-fat diet focused on counting calories. This kind of diet left me feeling ALWAYS hungry, constantly tired, and I loathed going to the gym, but forced myself due to paying over $300 a month for someone to tell me what workout to do. After researching diets recommended for women with PCOS, I landed on a Ketogenic diet: eating foods that were high in fat and low in carbohydrates. Standing at 5’2″ and being pronounced pre-diabetic at my Keto starting weight of 168, I decided it was time to give anything a try. How does Keto possibly work? It sounds crazy. How can one lose weight while Continue reading >>

Samantha Took A "break From The Gym" But Lost 60+ Pounds On This Popular Diet

You have probably heard quite a bit about the keto diet lately. It's certainly popping up on everyone's radar more often than not, and if you're anything like us, you have a lot of questions about it. Does it work? Is it a load of crap? Well, judging by Samantha's 63-pound weight loss, it looks like following the keto diet can give you some pretty incredible results. Samantha has been documenting her weight-loss journey on Instagram, where she regularly posts before-and-after photos and pictures of what she eats on the daily. POPSUGAR spoke to her in detail about her keto transformation, and she said she would "100 percent recommend [the diet] to anyone." This is how Samantha describes it: "The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carb diet. This diet allows your body to naturally produce ketones in the liver and use them as energy. When you limit your carbohydrate and sugar intake, your body stops using glucose and insulin. With this, your body can enter a natural state of ketosis, where ketones are produced to help break down fats." Over the last 13 months, Samantha has lost over 60 pounds from going keto — and she did it all without working out. "I had many life changes, so I have taken a bit of a break from the gym," she said. She used to do HIIT classes and strength training but has since shifted her focused to cleaning up her diet and taking care of her health. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and her doctor recommended the keto plan in order to help with her symptoms. "I began seeing a nutritionist shortly after and began my journey." Although the weight loss has been a welcomed side effect of the diet, Samantha says she has experienced so many more positive changes in her life. "Besides weight loss, I have so much energy. I have a very a Continue reading >>

Ketogenic Diet Plan – Weight Loss Results Before And After Reviews

Ketogenic Diet Plan – Weight Loss Results Before And After Reviews

You may have heard of the ketogenic diet plan, but have no idea what it means. Or you’re looking for a new diet low in carbs that will actually give you results. Here’s our all-inclusive guide to this low-carb dietary lifestyle which includes ketogenic diet reviews from REAL people at the end. The ketogenic diet plan is a low-carb, high-fat diet that aims to alter your metabolism so that your body relies primarily on fat for an energy source instead of quick-burning carbs. Whenever you eat something high in carbs (a doughnut), your body will produce glucose and insulin. Glucose – Almost everything we eat can be converted into glucose. Carbs are sugars, and all sugars are easily converted to glucose. Since glucose is the easiest source for your body to convert to energy, it will be chosen over any other energy source to fuel the body. If you consume more sugar than your body needs to function, the excess glucose your body generates then gets stored as fat. Insulin – Insulin is released while eating. It notifies your body to start taking glucose out of its bloodstream, which then lowers blood glucose levels. If not for insulin, you would go into hyperglycemic shock from something as simple as eating a few slices of pizza. Since glucose is used as the primary energy source, fats aren’t needed, and instead they’re stored. Hence, people become overweight and increase their chances of health issues. The idea behind the ketogenic diet is to change your body’s main fuel source from carbohydrates to ketones, which are the products of fat metabolism. What are Ketones? When you deprive yourself of glucose, the liver will begin to break down fat into glycerol and other fatty acid molecules. The fatty acid is then broken down even further into what’s called ketogenes Continue reading >>

How I Lost 60 Lbs On The Keto Diet: Before And After

How I Lost 60 Lbs On The Keto Diet: Before And After

After four kids, and various physical ailments in my life, I struggled with my weight. Over the years, my weight slowly crept up. I was confronted with the reality of my weight gain during a routine doctor's visit in early 2015. I was mortified to learn that I had reached 275 lbs. At my height of 5'9, this meant that my BMI was 40.6, putting me just over the edge into the morbidly obese range. I knew that I had to make changes, and make them fast. I started going to Jazzercise and following the Weight Watchers diet, but my weight loss was minimal. The Keto Diet In the spring of 2015, a friend introduced me to the keto diet. I had never heard of it before, but my friend had already lost a considerable amount of weight on it, so I was intrigued. I also noticed that he was able to eat a lot of meat, vegetables, and delicious fatty foods on his diet, which also seemed like a plus. The keto diet is essentially a very low carb, high fat diet. The aim is to get your body into a state of dietary ketosis. You can learn more about how to get started on the keto diet here. My Weight Loss on the Keto Diet As you can see from this chart, I began my keto journey around August 2015. At the time, I had been losing weight slowly but steadily with the Weight Watchers diet. I was about 256 lbs when I started keto. My weight loss on the keto diet was rather dramatic in the beginning. Within the first month I had dropped more than 10 lbs. And I lost another 10 lbs in my second month on keto. I've been told that much of the initial weight loss on keto is water weight. Eventually, my weight loss evened out to 3-5 lbs per month. Here is another chart showing my progress up to June of 2016: Frustrations and Setbacks on Keto During the fall of 2016 I struggled with my weight loss. I went back an Continue reading >>

How Melissa Lost 100 Pounds With A Keto Diet, And Kept It Off For 15 Years

How Melissa Lost 100 Pounds With A Keto Diet, And Kept It Off For 15 Years

Name: Melissa Forehand Age: 41 Height: 5’4 1/2” (160 cm) Highest weight: 240 lbs (109 kg) Current weight: 145 lbs (66 kg) Lowest weight: 125 lbs (57 kg) Back in the summer of 2001, Melissa Forehand was miserable and depressed. She could feel that her clothes were getting tighter but wasn’t even sure how exactly much she weighed. “I stopped weighing myself at 225 lbs (102 kg),” she admits. “I probably weighed about 240-250 pounds (109-113 kg). I’d had my daughter several months before but was still wearing maternity clothes and stretchy size 20’s.” Melissa was prediabetic with a strong family history of obesity, heart disease and diabetes. In addition to her baby daughter, she had a six-year-old son and a husband in the military. “I didn’t realize I had gained so much weight until my son took a photo of me and my daughter, and when I looked at it, I just couldn’t believe how big I’d gotten. I didn’t even recognize myself. And my husband never said a word. He’d always tell me I was beautiful. He had recently deployed, and I didn’t want him to come home to me being 300 pounds (136 kg),” she says. However, she wasn’t sure how to go about losing the weight. In the past, she’d tried portion control, 100-calorie food packs, and focusing on “healthy whole grains” – none of which produced any meaningful weight loss. Finding Atkins Fortunately for Melissa, fate was on her side. Right around that time, she found an old copy of ‘Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution‘ laying on top of a pile of books at a local thrift store. “I was in the thrift store and just happened to see this diet book laying there. I picked it up, bought it, and began reading it. And I thought, this has to be for me. I think I was just really in the right place at the rig Continue reading >>

My Keto Diet Before And After, Progress Pictures And Story

My Keto Diet Before And After, Progress Pictures And Story

I’ve been debating for months on whether or not I wanted to write this, but after nearly two and a half years of being on a ketogenic diet, I figured it’s about time I shared my story. Even if this isn’t seen by others, I learned it’s always good to be open and express yourself. Just by writing this I feel like I can reflect on the past, see how far I’ve come and set future goals for myself to become a better person. Now if you knew me in person, I’m not the most expressive or talkative person. I like to keep to myself and enjoy quiet nights in rather than being out and about town. However, keto (and losing weight) in general has completely changed who I am and my outlook on life. Weight Loss Progress – Before and After Pictures So this wouldn’t be a “progress post” or a real journey without showing comparison pictures. To be honest, I’ve always hated having my picture taken, so unfortunately all I have are low quality photos that are few and far between. This was probably one of my biggest regrets, not fully documenting the changes since those before and after pictures can truly be motivating. I highly recommend anyone planning on any sort of weight loss program take them since you will have days where you feel like you aren’t making progress at all, but just by looking at all photos, you can reassure yourself of how far you’ve come. Basically, I never really cared about my appearance or health. Well, I probably did, but being an awkward teenager, I was just in denial thinking that they weren’t important to me. I gradually gained weight over the years, but by grade 11 and 12, was when I put on the bulk of the weight. I became a shut in, living a reclusive lifestyle where I would go to school and head straight home afterwards, not wanting to Continue reading >>
