I'm asking out of pure curiosity--not out of dissatisfaction with the IP weight loss plan. Is there anything that we can do to boost our weekly fat loss? I've researched exercising while in ketosis and I'm finding conflicting information. Some say that it actually stalls weight loss. Anyways, I was just wondering if there's anything more in my power to get the most bang for my buck.

Anyways, I was just wondering if there's anything more in my power to get the most bang for my buck. I too have been searching for an answer to this. Just based on reading posts, it sounds like everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another. I've tried different variations that suit my life style to see what will yield the most weight loss/body fat.
For me, the more water I drink, the more likely i'll see a loss on the scale. I go to the restroom about every hour - but i'm fine with that
If I do light exercise, I have 1 boiled egg white right after, and if I have an intense workout, I have a restricted item before and an IP right after (with a total of 4 packets that day). I also have one restricted item a day.
I've tried different variations of this where I only have 3 packets on light workout days without the boiled egg or no restricted items and I only saw a 1lb loss and a decrease in muscle...while on other typical weeks I drop between 6 to 4lbs.
Also, you might want to consider talking to your coach to see if he/she has ideas of how you can maximize the benefits for your body?

My coach said that I will burn the most fat when at rest and there is nothing a person can do to speed it up. If a person exercises vigorously the body goes in search of more efficient fuel means...if not glycogen, then it burns muscle.
Everyone has a sweat spot, though, for fat loss and it isn't always 100% IP protocol.....as I have found I lose more fat every week if I eat an extra 1-2 protein/day. Seems that the body will hold onto the fat if your specific calorie requirement is too low. So in that respect you can speed it up by actually eating more.

7 Keto Warnings

7 Keto DHEA is available over the counter without a prescription. A September 2007 study in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry suggests that overweight people can use this supplement to raise their resting metabolic rate while on calorie-restricted diets. It also suggests there are few side effects. However, this study was limited to three one-week treatments and a handful of participants. Skeptics continue to question product claims that 7 Keto DHEA provides the benefits of DHEA without many of the unwanted side effects. Video of the Day Male and Female Characteristic Changes DHEA is known to cause virilism in women, characterized by facial hair growth, a deepening voice, baldness, weight gain in the abdomen and clitoral enlargement. In men, it can cause testicular wasting, breast enlargement and other "feminine" characteristic side effects. That’s because DHEA is a precursor to both female and male sex hormones, called estrogens and androgens, that are responsible for male and female characteristics. 7 Keto DHEA is supposed to have a lower conversion rate into these male and female hormones, thus being able to provide benefits without side effects like female virilism or m Continue reading >>

I wasn’t sure which section I should post this in, my strategy is what I call the 4–2–1 plan, I fast 2 day non consecutive days a week, eat a low carb but not calorie restricted diet 4 days a week to keep the fat burning benefits of ketosis going and then I give myself 1 day a week to indulge and eat whatever I want, usually a Saturday pasta dinner and wonderful dessert. I also walk 4 to 6 miles a day during the week and 10 to 12 miles on Saturday.
Low Carb plans such as Atkins can be very effective for some people including me, many people who start a low carb diet experience get what’s called the “ketosis flu” or the “induction flu” in the first few days while the body is adapting to burning ketones instead of glucose.
    The basic symptoms are:
    – Headaches
    – Nausea
    – Upset stomach
    – Lack of mental clarity (brain fog)
    – Sleepiness
    – Fatigue
It’s called the “ketosis flu” for a reason: you feel sick. I’ve gone through it and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Fortunately it only lasted 2 days but then suddenly I woke up feeling much better, less hungry and my energy level was really high and consistent throughout the day!
The first time I thought to myself: “What the heck am I doing? I feel like I’m going to die!” but I persevered and when it was over I didn’t regret a thing because what I had gained mentally and physically was 100% worth it.
For those of you that are going through the ketosis flu, don’t give up! I know you feel like it’s never going to get better but stick with it and you´ll be so happy you did! I’m telling you, waking up refreshed for the first time in years, not getting the afternoon “blah” feeling and stuffing my face with carbs to try to boost my energy is the best side effect of the low carb diet I’ve experienced. Okay, losing weight while eating good food, feeling full and satisfied is great too.
First you have to understand why your body is reacting this way. Your body’s been burning glucose for energy so it’s basically full of enzymes that are waiting to deal with the carbs you eat, but now the body needs to make new enzymes that burn fat for fuel instead of carbs, and the transition period causes the flu-like symptoms.
There are some things you can do to lessen the symptoms of the ketosis flu and to make it go away sooner (to force the body to transition sooner) Ok, let’s get to the good part – what to do:
First of all – you’re probably dehydrated. Drink PLENTY of water while you’re on a low carb diet, and then drink some more.
Watch your electrolytes. When the body is getting rid of excess insulin from your former carb-crazy diet you´ll lose lots of fluids that have been retained in your body. This causes the rapid weight loss most people see in their first few days of ketosis, it’s mostly water, sorry. When you lose all the retained water you also lose electrolytes like sodium, magnesium and potassium. When you’re lacking them you´ll feel like crap so when you’re feeling really ill on the ketosis flu try things like chicken/beef broth and look for foods rich in these minerals. Take a multi-vitamin and a multi-mineral.
Ok, here is where people throw the red flag – Eat more fat – Yup, I said MORE fat. Have some butter, just not on a roll, eat some bacon and eggs for breakfast, just skip the potatoes and toast. This will force your body to hurry up the transition. You´ll think this is crazy and think you´ll never get lose weight eating this way, but you will.
Don’t eat too much protein – The body can transform protein into glucose so if you eat too much of it in the first days it will slow down the transition. Go for fatty meat and cheese if you can, add fat to protein shakes etc.
Drink water, replenish electrolytes (sodium, magnesium, potassium) with food and supplements, drink broth, eat fat and not too much protein.
I hope this helps, and have a great day

    ” Take a multi-vitamin and a multi-mineral.”
I have been forgetting to take a multi-vitamin on fast days. Thanks for the reminder.
“Eat more fat – Yup, I said MORE fat. ”
I will have avocado more often.

7-keto Dhea Review & Information

compliments of Bodybuilding.com 7-Keto DHEA Guide: Lose Fat And Build Muscle! 7-Keto improves lean body mass by reducing cortisol and increasing testosterone-to-cortisol ratios enabling the body to build muscle in a growth promoting environment. It has also been shown to increase your body's ability to burn calories. It is a non-hormonal, non-androgenic derivative of DHEA. The groundbreaking new micronutrient 7-Keto, a patented compound which, by activating thermogenic enzymes, has been shown to safely "rev up" the basal metabolic rate and thus "burn" calories more rapidly and continually throughout the day, even while resting, as well as inhibit the storage of fat within the body. All About 7-Keto When we age the ability to control our quality of life becomes an issue for all of us. The application of aging research into the steroid dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) has helped our understanding of age induced losses of functional capacity, and has subsequently lead to the discovery of a relatively new compound "7-OXO-DHEA". 7 - Keto as it is more commercially known may have physiological actions that allow us to train well into old age. Recent studies suggest it may also have applicat Continue reading >>

Foreword: I don't want anything bad to happen to anybody on the GLL fat loss diet and I'm sure Chris doesn't either, but it DOES have its risks/bad sides and YOU need to know how to mitigate them. I've been tired from keto flu today but I need to get this long post out to inform you guys. Please read this whole post if you're on the fat loss plan and you're in ketosis or heading there with less than approx. 80g carbs per day.
    What happened to me:
May 31th 2013 or day 14 of my fat loss journey, I woke up in the middle of the night at 3am feeling restless and soon experienced abnormally strong heart beats, heart palpitations and basically my heart revved up and started beating too fast. I was too panicked to count my pulse. I've had panic attacks before in 2012 so thought I had either a re-occuring panic attack, low blood sugar from my low-carb fat loss diet or some more serious shit.
I fucking biked to the nearest hospital at 4am to get myself checked after I had a spoonful of honey and calmed down a bit. The nurse tested my blood pressure, pulse and blood sugar at my request. My blood sugar was normal, the nurse found nothing abnormal about me so she didn't even send me to a doctor. Luckily, I felt fine at that point and went home to sleep.
The days before and after this I've experienced brain fog, feeling faint and lightheaded when standing up quickly, tingly sensation in my head during weighlifting, runny nose, phlegm in my throat, sore throat, irritability, muscular weakness, light cramping, tiredness waking up/during the day/afternoon/after a nap etc. All keto flu symptoms, which will go away in time, hopefully within the next few days. I'm not quitting my diet or anything, it's not that bad. I've lost enough fat+water in about 16 days that all my pants are sagging!!
Here's another dieter's account from reddit - he's on a low-carb keto diet, which is what the GLL fat loss program is:
"I woke up around 4am with shaky hands and pounding heart. I was shaking so badly that I could barely walk, and I was freaking out, being tired and surprised, and I was certain that I had to be dying or something. Then I remembered reading about keto and salt here on reddit, and I wobbled into the kitchen, dissolved half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water, and drank it. Tasted like crap, but after 6-7 minutes, I felt completely fine again. I made sure to watch my salt intake after that."

If me and him and plenty of others with similar stories were INFORMED before they started dropping their carbs below 50g/day, these bad experienced would never have needed to happen!! If GLL had taken the reponsibility of informing us about this KETO FLU, I would've known to fucking look out for it and take more magnesium, potassium and sodium (salt)
    from: http://ketodietapp.com/Blog/post/2013/04/16/Keto-flu-and-Sufficient-Intake-of-Electrolytes
"Here are signs of potassium deficiency (hypekalemia):
    cardiac arrhythmia
muscular weakness and muscle cramps, weakness
    depression and irritability
    heart palpitations
    skin problems
respiratory depression, heart failure (severe deficiency)"
Here's 3 more articles that are ESSENTIAL READING for all GLL fat loss warriors so you can understand how cutting carbs too fast expels a lot of toxins and bad gut bacteria from your stomach and causes flu-like symptoms and so you can maintain ketosis safely without having bad keto flu, low blood pressure, heart palpitations and possibly even worse shit sneak the fuck up on you!!
1.Eat 3-5g of salt per day. It can be from sea/table/kosher salt, salted nuts, broths, buillions, chicken soups etc. Or you can eg. take a full tablespoon of organic extra virgin olive oil + a little sea salt sprinkled on top with each meal. I supplement with a teaspoon of sea salt a day, no iodine.
2.Supplement potassium 3g a day. Best food source is avodaco, 2nd nuts. 1 avocado has 1g of potassium. I'm currenctly little low and trying to find a supplement: I eat about 1.5 avocados a day and maybe 80g of nuts.
3.supplement magnesium with at least 400mg a day. I use Country Life chelated magnesium pill with 250mg and then Life-Flo "pure magnesium oil" which is magnesium chloride bitrate taken from the zechstein seabed in the Netherlands. Got both from Iherb.
CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. But keep calm and keto on.

Yea, this diet is really only useful for guys who heven't yet developed alot of muscle mass. If All you care about is losing as much weight as quickty as you possibly can... then its gold. But for Anyone who has spend more than a year in the gym specifically trying to build muscle (bulking) then you need to be careful cause eating a combination of low carb + calory deficit will strip fat and ALSO destroy muscle mass very quickly.
I leanred this the hard way. After my first stint on the GLL fat loss diet I lost 15 pounds in 2 months. I looked really lean and cut but also noticed my lifts were way down and my muscles had become flat looking. From what I can tell, Most people will agree that anything more than 4-6 pounds per month is goign to become muscle wasting. This is likely what had happened to me. BCAA's will help you a bit but I personally don't think its enough for anyone who is doing intense workouts... which you should be if you are trying to maintain any amount of muscle mass you need to continue lifting heavy throughout your cut phase otherwise your body will break down muscle for energy. It makes sense if you think about it logically. Your body is essentially starving on this diet. If you arent continuing to lift heavy and instead just doing cardio then your body will see that all that muscle isnt necessary and will break it down for energy. "use it or lose it"
Now I use a modified version of the GLL diet. I eat 50-100g of (clean) carbs 1 hour before my workout. This gives me an energy boost and prevents muscle breakdown.
