Beat The Bulge! Here's A Quick Solution To Get Rid Of Stubborn Belly Fat
LONDON: One of the most common questions people ask these days is how to lose belly fat. Belly fat is actually the most dangerous type of fat - besides aesthetics, large waist lines are indicators of -- disease. According to Express.co.uk, weight loss can be a slow process, but there are foods and exercises dieters can try to speed things. As well as eating the right foods, it is important not to eat the wrong foods, and studies have shown there is one type in particular that should be avoided. Sugar and foods high in sugar have been linked to type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease. Many studies have shown a relationship between high sugar intake and increased abdominal fat. In a study conducted in 2009, a group of researchers observed a group who drank sugar-sweetened drinks with their meals over an eight-week period. Their diets didn't otherwise change, but they put on an average of three pounds. However, this wasn't all, as participants were found to have significantly increased abdominal fat too. But how to actually cut out sugar and lose belly fat? One of the most popular diets for those trying to cut out sugar and lose belly fat is the keto diet. A man recently revealed his before and after pictures after losing more than five stone following a keto lifestyle. Fighting belly fat is 80 per cent healthy diet. Reduce calories by filling yourself up with protein, vegetables, whole grains, and replacing bad habit snacks with good ones. How To Get Rid Of Visceral Fat
Visceral fat, also known as belly fat, is found inside your abdominal cavity. Carrying too much visceral fat is extremely harmful. It’s linked to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease and even certain cancers (1, 2, 3). Fortunately, proven strategies can help you lose visceral fat. This article explains why visceral fat is harmful and provides proven strategies to help you get rid of it. Visceral fat is commonly known as belly fat. It’s found inside your abdominal cavity and wraps around your internal organs. It’s hard to judge how much visceral fat you have. However, a protruding belly and large waist are two signs that you have too much of it. On the other hand, subcutaneous fat is stored just below your skin. It’s the fat that you can pinch easily from just about anywhere on your body. Carrying too much visceral fat is a serious health problem. Studies have shown that excess visceral fat is linked to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease and even certain cancers (1, 2, 3). Visceral fat also produces inflammatory markers, such as IL-6, IL-1β, PAI-I and TNF-α. Elevated levels of these markers are related to the health problems described above (4, 5). Visceral fat sits inside your abdominal cavity and wraps around your organs. It’s a health problem linked to a higher risk of chronic disease. Fat cells do more than simply store excess energy. They also produce hormones and inflammatory substances. Visceral fat cells are especially active and produce even more inflammatory markers, such as IL-6, IL-1β, PAI-1 and TNF-α (4, 5). Over time, these hormones can promote long-lasting inflammation and increase the risk of chronic disease (6, 7, 8, 9). One example of this is heart disease. Long-lasting inflam Continue reading >>

Darren Has Lost 100 Pounds
In today’s interview i would like to present Darren. Darren has been living keto for over a year and lost over 100 pounds (45 Kg). Not only has he lost weight he has completely reversed medical conditions like diabetes. A lot of people can relate to Darren’s story so please read through his experience. Can you tell us a little about yourself? My name is Darren. I live near Chicago. I own a business that helps children (and anyone) rid themselves of head lice and nits (LiceHelp.com). I am a foodie. I love food. Have I told you how much I love food? I mean I REALLY love food. I eat food when I am completely full. I am a food addict! After puberty, it seems like I have always struggled with weight. Back in my early teens I was considered “husky”. I was not obese, just large. I was on the football (american football, not soccer) team. I got a girlfriend for my last 2 years of high school. Complacency coupled with her mom’s country baked pies added to my waistline. From that point on I was considered overweight which eventually led to morbid obesity. For years I plodded along with my food addiction….gaining weight. The younger you are the more you can “sustain” having that weight on you without major medical impacts. As I aged though, small problems started: First it was slightly elevated sugars, then full blown diabetes; no blood pressure problems to high blood pressure; GERD; elevated kidney protein problems, sleep apnea….you know how this story goes, right? Finally, after a million diets, Weight Watchers, Atkins, I stumbled across keto on Reddit. By that time I was on 2 oral diabetic medications and I had just started shooting insulin. Something HAD to change. Now, I KNEW that limiting eating was not an option for me, nor was exercise. I knew that neithe Continue reading >>

Science Confirms It: Carbs Don’t Make You Fat
Cutting carbs is the most important change for weight loss. At least, that’s the idea sold by Gary Taubes, Dr. David Ludwig and other low carb enthusiasts. They believe carbohydrate drives obesity because it raises the hormone insulin. Insulin is said to block the release of fat and also drive additional fat storage. However, nutrition research continually shows that carbs alone DON’T make you fat. The latest clinical trial is no exception. You probably already see my stance on this. But let’s put our personal food ideologies aside for a moment to honestly consider the weight of evidence available. If you prefer to watch: Cutting Carbs Does Not Increase Metabolism or Fat Loss If raised insulin drives weight gain, then conversely, reduced insulin (from cutting carbs) should be therapeutic. In other words, we’d expect an extremely low carb diet to cause more fat loss than a typical Western diet. The latest trial to compare these two eating patterns – ironically funded by Taubes’ own NuSI organisation – indicates this is not true. Study Design This was a tightly-controlled, metabolic ward trial, which means no cheating on the diet. For 4 consecutive weeks, 16 overweight or obese men were fed a standard American diet, quite high in carbs (50% Carbohydrate, 15 % Protein, 35% Fat). According to the sample menu published, it included loads of refined carbs including lemonade, granola bars, pretzel sticks and sandwich bread. Participants were then immediately switched to a very low carbohydrate, ketogenic diet (5% Carbohydrate, 15% Protein, 80% Fat) for another 4 weeks (1). Both the high carb diet and the ketogenic diet were equal in calories and protein, and they had no access to any outside foods for the entire 8 week period. Participants also rode an exercise b Continue reading >>

Do You Want To Lose Fat Faster? Include Coconut Oil In Your Diet!
Coconut oil and weight loss Coconut oil is great for weight loss and should be a part of every low-carb, ketogenic diet. It increases energy expenditure and helps you burn more fat. Coconut oil is also known to reduce hunger cravings and keep you fuller for longer. Not only it will help you lose weight, but it's been shown to reduce the dangerous fat in your abdominal area, also known as visceral fat. Apart from coconut oil, macadamia nuts and other foods rich in healthy fats will also help you lose weight. Other health benefits of coconut oil coconut oil helps your body fight infections helps you get into ketosis, which has many health effects (check out my article: Health Effects of a Low-carb Diet) boosts thyroid health and reduces inflammation (I recommend this article by WellnessMama) coconut oil can improve cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart disease it's commonly used in cosmetics (great moisturiser, protects hair) populations that have been eating plenty of coconuts are among the healthiest people in the world! Why is coconut oil great for the Ketogenic Diet Having trouble entering ketosis? Include coconut oil in your every day diet. It contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) that will help you boost ketones. Some keto-dieters who refuse to eat carbs and are strictly on SKD (Standard Ketogenic Diet) consume coconut oil as an immediate form of energy. MCTs are converted in the liver into ketones that can be used by your body as fuel instead of glycogen. Your body uses them for immediate energy rather than storing them. Research also shows that MCTs are thermogenic and therefore great fat-burners. Try coconut oil right before your workout instead of carbohydrate-based snacks! You can increase your MCT intake not only by using coconut oil, but even by Continue reading >>

Holy Shit, It Really Works (keto)
If you are familiar with reddit you may have heard of /r/keto. It is a subreddit where people talk and share their experiences with the ketogenic diet. I knew this subreddit for a long time because it often featured really fat people who got slim rather fast. What will happen? Someday while I browsing /r/keto I decided to just try it. The worst that could happen would be that I lost interest in it or that it didn’t work for me. My initial time limit was 4 weeks. Thus, I calculated my macros (carbs, fat and protein). In the first 3 or so days I didn’t track anything and it also didn’t feel different. After that I started to get to do it seriously and tracked my food in myfitnesspal. I realized that my carb intake through vegs was simply too high. I’m feeling sick A few days later the infamous keto flu or carb flu hit me. This happens because you will at first lose a lot of water weight and this will wash out your electrolytes. Of course, the community had great tips and I drank about two to four cups of broth (with extra salt) everyday. And it worked. I no longer felt sick and now something strange happened. Where does this energy come from? The first day after my carb flu disappeared I woke up totally relaxed and full of energy. Really strange. I had no problems working out in the morning and eating a breakfast afterwards without collapsing. And this happened to me a few times while in school. You don’t fart anymore This is a really funny but interesting fact. It just stopped and my belly doesn’t feel bloated anymore. Some people basically stop eating fiber which can increase the time between poops. I however eat everyday at least 2g of fiber and my digestive systems works totally fine. I don’t want to eat that anymore About 2-3 weeks in I just wanted to s Continue reading >>

The Insider’s Guide To Fat Burning Pills: An Evidence-based Review
If you want to know which fat loss supplements actually work, which don’t, and why, then you want to read this article. “Fat burning pills” are one of the most controversial supplements on the market, and for good reason: most are junk and some are downright dangerous, but not all are completely worthless… If you’re looking for pills and powders to help you lose weight, I have good and bad news for you. Let’s start with the bad: No amount of weight loss pills and powders are going to make you lean. Trust me. If you’re trying to lose fat, pill popping, even to excess, is not going to be enough. There just aren’t any safe, natural “fat burning” compounds powerful enough to, all on their own, cause meaningful weight reduction. Now the good news: If you know how to drive fat loss with proper dieting and exercise, certain supplements can accelerate the process. Based on my experience with my own body and having worked with thousands of people, I feel comfortable saying that a proper fat loss supplementation routine can increase fat loss by about 30 to 50% with little-to-no side effects. That is, if you can lose 1 pound of fat per week through proper diet and exercise (and you can), you can lose 1.3 to 1.5 pounds of fat per week by adding the right supplements into the mix. Another big benefit of taking the right fat loss supplements is they are particularly effective for reducing stubborn fat, which is usually belly fat for us guys and hip and thigh fat for girls. So, as you can see, even the best “stack” of fat loss supplements isn’t game changing, but I think it’s worthwhile for both the lean looking to get really lean and overweight looking to get lean. It makes the process of fat loss faster and more enjoyable and has no downsides or negative Continue reading >>

I’ve created this comprehensive guide to help you lose stubborn belly fat while maintaining lean muscle mass as a token of my appreciation. Understand Hormone Signaling to Understand Why You’re Packing on the Fat “We are the masters of our fate, the captains of our soul.” – Winston Churchill Insulin – Insulin is a hormone. It signals to your body that glucose needs to be stored. Insulin is released in response to glucose entering the blood stream. ALL carbohydrates(sugar, whole grain, complex, and simple) are broken down into glucose. Your body releases insulin in direct proportion to the volume of glucose in your blood. Glucose needs to be either burned as fuel, stored in the liver and muscles, or stored as fat. High levels of glucose in the bloodstream is toxic to the body. Insulin stops the use of fat as an energy source by inhibiting the release of glucagon. With the exception of the metabolic disorder diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome, insulin is provided within the body in a constant proportion to remove excess glucose from the blood, which otherwise would be toxic. – Wiki Low-carb diets like the ketogenic diet are the gold-standard for losing fat. Low-carb diets by definition limit the amount of glucose entering your bloodstream thereby eliminate blood sugar(glucose) spikes. This mediation of blood glucose then eliminates large insulin spikes. With our new understanding of insulin it is Continue reading >>

How I Fixed The Biggest Ketosis Mistakes
The ketogenic diet isn’t always as easy as it seems. I tried for a long time, but not until I dove deep into the research and found out how to fix all of the common mistakes was I able to enjoy the full state of ketosis. This article is to help you avoid those same mistakes. Why Try the Ketogenic Diet First, why would you want to even try ketosis? I truly enjoy trying diets and eating methodologies to research what I like and what works for me. I’ve experimented with low-carb diets, high-carb diets, and everything in between, but I’ve never cut them out to the point to achieve ketosis. What’s most exciting about the ketogenic diet to me is that, yes, it’s amazing for weight loss, but it’s not just a “diet.” Ketosis is literally a state of metabolism. You are either in or you’re out. I wanted to see and feel for myself the benefits everyone is talking about from going full Keto. My Keto Coach has a great line that goes like this: I was sold and needed to try this and commit. If you are new to researching ketosis, a quick review of the popular benefits: Mental Clarity [2] Fat Loss [2][3][4] Feeling Full [1][2] Better Sleep [1] Better Mood [1] Better Skin [4] The list goes on and on, including disease and inflammation reduction, better cholesterol, etc. For my purposes I didn’t care about weight loss or fat loss, I just cared about doing the diet the best I could, and to do that, I needed to prepare accordingly. Preparation Stage – Learning the Keto Basics Here is what I did to educate myself and prepare for six weeks of the Ketogenic Diet. I picked a start date and spent $30 at In-N-Out burger on a massive send-off to carbohydrates. A whole other post could be dedicated to the mistakes I made at In-N-Out. After this epic meal, it was officially time Continue reading >>

How To Lose 20 Lbs. Of Fat In 30 Days… Without Doing Any Exercise
Fat Loss via Better Science and Simplicity It is possible to lose 20 lbs. of bodyfat in 30 days by optimizing any of three factors: exercise, diet, or drug/supplement regimen. I’ve seen the elite implementation of all three in working with professional athletes. In this post, we’ll explore what I refer to as the “slow-carb diet”. In the last six weeks, I have cut from about 180 lbs. to 165 lbs., while adding about 10 lbs. of muscle, which means I’ve lost about 25 lbs. of fat. This is the only diet besides the rather extreme Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD) that has produced veins across my abdomen, which is the last place I lose fat (damn you, Scandinavian genetics). Here are the four simple rules I followed… Rule #1: Avoid “white” carbohydrates Avoid any carbohydrate that is — or can be — white. The following foods are thus prohibited, except for within 1.5 hours of finishing a resistance-training workout of at least 20 minutes in length: bread, rice, cereal, potatoes, pasta, and fried food with breading. If you avoid eating anything white, you’ll be safe. Rule #2: Eat the same few meals over and over again The most successful dieters, regardless of whether their goal is muscle gain or fat loss, eat the same few meals over and over again. Mix and match, constructing each meal with one from each of the three following groups: Proteins: Egg whites with one whole egg for flavor Chicken breast or thigh Grass-fed organic beef Pork Legumes: Lentils Black beans Pinto beans Vegetables: Spinach Asparagus Peas Mixed vegetables Eat as much as you like of the above food items. Just remember: keep it simple. Pick three or four meals and repeat them. Almost all restaurants can give you a salad or vegetables in place of french fries or potatoes. Surprisingly, I hav Continue reading >>

Watch A Woman Lose 88 Pounds In 1 Gif — All Thanks To Bacon?
When Reddit user Amanda posted pictures of her transformational weight loss, she never expected to become an overnight phenom. But, after an inspired reader translated her progress photos into an oddly mesmerizing GIF, she became just that. Watching it happen in GIF form is pretty amazing, but the thing that really got our attention: the prominent role bacon played in her diet. Over the course of two years, Amanda lost an incredible 88 pounds on a high-fat, medium-protein, low-carb diet — also known as the keto diet. (She also says she was influenced by the paleo diet, a close cousin to keto.) But, what is this oddly named regimen? And could it possibly be right for you? Maybe... Advertisement First off, keto is short for ketogenic, and the diet works by reducing the amount of carbs you put into your body, forcing it to burn up fat reserves in order to power itself. But, you might ask, how does the body shed fat so rapidly when all you’re eating is fat? After all, we’ve had “FAT BAD” drilled into our brains for so long that it seems tough to believe the health benefits of such a high-fat plan. Well, here's how it works. People on keto diets typically focus on fatty meats, leafy greens, veggies, and eggs — but totally cut out sugars, refined grains, and fruit juices. And yes, there are lots of similarities between Paleo and keto diets, but very generally, Paleo diets tend to be extremely protein-focused, while this diet is heavy on fats and medium on protein. The reason a bacon-y, buttery regimen could actually help you shed the weight has to do with how your body uses different kinds of food for energy. When we eat sugar and carbs, our bodies react by producing insulin to help regulate our blood sugar; believers in the keto diet say that insulin both encoura Continue reading >>

How To Estimate Your Body Fat Percentage (bf %)
What is the measurement of body fat percentage? Put simply, the measure of body fat percentage is assessing what portion of your body is made up of fat. The remaining weight spread between organs, water, muscle tissues, bones, etc. If you weigh 200 pounds, and 20 pounds of that is fat, then your body fat percentage is 10%. 30 pounds of fat would put it at 15%, 40 pounds at 20%, and so forth. The rest we refer to as your lean mass. If you gain or lose only fat, your body fat percentage goes up or down accordingly. But it can also go up without gaining fat, and down without losing fat. How is that possible? By subtracting or adding muscle. Let’s say you’re fairly muscular and weigh 190 pounds with about 25 pounds of that being fat. That puts you around 13% body fat (25/190). If you stopped lifting and lost 20 pounds of muscle over the course of a year, without losing any fat, you now weigh 170 pounds with the same 25 pounds of fat. Your new body fat percentage is about 15% (25/170). On the flip side, let’s say you weigh 170 pounds and are carrying 20 pounds of fat. Your body fat percentage is around 12% (20/170). If you gain 10 pounds and little-to-no-fat, you now weigh 180 pounds with the same 20 pounds of fat, and your body fat has now dropped to 11% (20/180). What are the methods of measuring body fat percentage? There are quite a few methods of measuring body fat; the most common methods are the following (in order of probable accuracy) Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA Scan) Hydrostatic Testing (Underwater Density Test) Air Displacement Plethysmograph (BOD POD) SKULPT Device Skinfold Measurement (Skin Pinch with Calipers) Bioelectrical impedance analysis (Handheld/Scale device) Height and circumference methods (Measurement Collections) When we look at the Continue reading >>
