Little-known Uses For Baking Soda

Sodium bicarbonate has been around a long, long time. Arm & Hammer began producing baking soda, which is 100 percent sodium bicarbonate, in NewYork in 1846, but thousands of years before that, ancient Egyptians used naturally occurring natron, a sodium carbonate/bicarbonate combo, for multiple purposesincluding drying organs during the mummification process. Today, most of us keep a box of baking soda around the house. It makes baked goods rise, eliminates acid-induced odors in refrigerators, carpets, and litter boxes, and is a minimally abrasive green cleaning agent that can be used to scrub everything from sinks and dishes to fruits and vegetables . Baking soda also comes in handy if you ever have to deal with a small kitchen fire. (Sodium bicarbonate is a common agent in fire extinguishers.) If you dont have an extinguisher within reach, just throw baking soda on the flames. In addition to these household applications, there are a number of health benefits of baking sodaincluding the treatment of two very serious and increasingly common health concerns chronic kidney disease and cancer . Bicarbonate is an alkaline substance naturally produced in the body that buffers acids and Continue reading >>

hello cysters just got in from work and on way home i bought new scales and ketosticks the ketosticks are sopposed to detect ketones in your urine to see if your body is motabolizig fat.I peed on one and it turned very dark purple instantly. I was wondering if anyone on here has ever tried them and were they accurate?thanks,

  2. yukabee

    hi
when I did atkins they turned ourple unless I ate too many carbs so I think they work but the time of day and strength of your pee(if you drink alot of water) can affect how dark the colour gets.

  3. gunner_babe

I was on a very strict water based diet and every week we used to have to pee on those things (lets be honest it takes some skill )
The darker the purple the more of your own body fat the body was using.
My results with the stick matched that of my weight loss for the week. (ie the darker the stick the more weight I lost)
I believe they are accurate although I can't garantee they are the same sticks!!

ACV is made by crushing apples which squeezes out the juice. Bacteria and Yeast are added to the juice to initiate the alcoholic fermentation process which converts the sugars into alcohol. In a second round of fermentation the alcohol is converted into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria. Unpasteurized and unfiltered apple cider vinegar retains the mother which is the culture of beneficial bacteria that turns apple cider into vinegar in the first place. Its the presence of this culture which gives ACV the unique properties that ot Continue reading >>

Hi! I'm a 21 y/o female (former youth professional football player with Arsenal FC) so come from a huge sporty background and used to be fit as a fiddle. Long story short during a game I was tackled to the ground and the cartilage in my right knee essentially split into two. 2 operations, years of physio etc later agony has increased as my spine has begun to twist. I can't do any physical exercise apart from swimming (which I aim to do 3 hours of a week) but can barely even stand for more than 15 mins or so without pain. I also suffer from IBS and find Keto is fab for curing the symptoms! I like the diet (as long as I get a few breaks here and there) but was just wondering if keto would aid me to lose weight even without intense exercise to boot? I'm a Biomedical Scientist so understand the biomechanics behind it but it's a little out of my field- thoughts on keto without exercising? Thanks guys!

  2. CarnivoreForLife

I lost about 100lbs before thinking about exercise. Losing the weight made exercise easier, not the other way around, as so many people seem to think.

  3. Gaiacreation

I think many people think that way because for them it in fact does work that way. By exercising from the start I have not had any cravings or temptations to cheat, and while the lbs don't come off as fast the body fat is absolutely melting away. To each their own though, there is no one rule that works for everyone! Congrats on your loss btw!

A simple remedy with great benefits for your health that we will now detail. The benefits of a glass of lemon juice with baking soda. I am pretty new to dieting and supplements. It has been ten years since I stopped working out. I was a boxer/kickboxer up to my college days. After spending all my time working on my career that last ten years, I am finally at a position where I have time to take care of my body.
First, I am wondering if this is normal. I have been on low carb diet for a couple of weeks. A really close friend got married this previous weekend that I had to attend. My diet was shattered Saturday and Sunday. I drank quite a few beers and cognac. Plus, I was quite buzzed most of the time, so I did not really watch what I was eating. I think I consumed a lot of simple sugars and carbs. The problem I have is my urine smells sweet or fruity. This happened Sunday night and this morning. I am thinking that maybe my body have switch over to burning fat instead of carbs, so I am urinating the glucose out.
Second, I am wanting to get back into boxing and kickboxing. My bf is 26%. My workout is 1.5 hrs per day jumping, punching and kicking. Maybe some light weights, but nothing weight intensive. I was never on a diet or anything back in my younger days. My calorie intake is 1600 per day. I am down to 205. Lost 5lbs since a week ago that I started to workout.
My question is if Sustain from PP will help me quick start my plan. I noticed that it is not hormonal, which is what I am looking for. Is Sustain plus Toco8 a good stack to get me there sooner? My muscle development will come from my kickboxing training. Weight lifting will not be a factor. I am 32 years old without any illness. I believe I have normal hormonal levels for my age. So will Sustain elevate that?
I want to be around 175 with 12% bf. That was my stat in college. I do not think I will be competing in kickboxing anymore, but I just want to be back in shape. Any advice is welcomed. If there is a better supplement suited for my goal, please let me know.
    Thanks

If you are still having this problem, you should get your blood sugar levels checked. Sweet smelling urine is often a symptom of diabetes or pre-diabetes.

  3. Rhyno

Since you are going low-carb, the "sweet smell' is a good indicator that you are in ketosis. The smell is coming from the ketones that are being exceted in you urine.
Here are my thoughts on the situation. While alcohol is in your system, your liver will switch from supplying your body with glycogen and focus on the metabolism of the alcohol. This can lead to low blood glucose levels in the body. The carbs that you consumed were most likely metabolized fairly quickly since you are both extremely insulin sensitive and have been eating a severly calorie restricted diet. Thus, considering the amount of alcohol that you consumed, it is likely that your liver was still attending to the alcohol long after the carbs were digested resulting in very low blood glucose levels. This would explain your body's state of ketosis after returned to the calorie and carb restricted diet.

The kidneys are small, only about the size of a fist, but they perform vital functions that play a role in overall health. The kidneys prevent the buildup of waste in the body, keep electrolyte levels stable, and make hormones that regulate blood pressure, make blood cells, and maintain strong bones. Many fa ...
