Global Blood Glucose Monitoring Devices Market 2017-2021

This market research study identifies Abbott Laboratories, Roche Diagnostics, LifeScan, and Medtronic as the leading players in the global blood glucose monitoring (BGM) devices market. A comprehensive analysis of this market is also presented by product (SMBG, CGM, and lancets), end-user (hospitals and diagnostic laboratories, POL, and home-care settings), and geography (the Americas, APAC, and EMEA). Overview of the global blood glucose monitoring (BGM) devices market The global blood glucose monitoring (BGM) devices market is anticipated to grow at a moderate rate and will post a CAGR of close to 12% during the forecast period. One of the growth drivers for the global BGM device market is the availability of reimbursement options for glucose meters. Generally, it has been noted that glucose meter devices must be replaced within six to eight months and are very expensive. As a result, most people prefer selecting health insurance plans that cover almost 80% of the total expenditure on healthcare devices. Such schemes also cover the cost of diabetes testing supplies, blood glucose test strips, and blood glucose meters. For instance, Medicare, the federal health insurance program i Continue reading >>

Finding low cost Insulin at Wal Mart!

I was looking for low cost insulin this week. We usually go through Medco, but there prices are as much as my rent it! I can't afford both! I found this website that explains all the details of what you can do to locate a Wal Mart in your area that has Novolin 75/30 insulin for as low as 16.95. Some places want more, like ours does, but its better then paying 400.00 for 3 viles. Passing this along to those who are looking to and were not aware of this like I was not. :) Now on my March 7th Dr. appointment I can have him, if he wil, write a prescription for this.

I have not been able to find the Relion 70/30 insulin at Walmart anymore. Are they still making it? Cannot find it at any Walmarts where I live.

Big Market Research : World Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems Market - Size, Share, Trends, Demand, Report, Opportunities and Forecast 2020 To Get More Details @ http://www.bigmarketresearch.com/glob... Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is one of the latest technological advancements in the field of diabetes management. CGM systems are a type of glucose monitoring devices that function by inserting a biosensor through transcutaneous or subcutaneous route. The embedded sensor measures the glucose levels in the interstitial fluid or in the blood and results are transmitted via a transmitter to a receiver/monitor that displays the results. CGM systems have emerged as an integral part of diabetes management owing to its several advantages over other glucose monitoring devices. Unlike conventional glucose monitors, these systems enable periodic monitoring of glucose levels, which is crucial to avoid any diabetic complications. In addition, CGMS technology has laid a roadmap to the most awaited, high-tech, closed-loop artificial/bionic pancreas. Therefore, developing novel and technologically advanced CGMS is the prime focus of several glucose monitoring device manufacturing compan

Amr: Continuous Glucose Monitoring Market To Hit $500m In 2020

The global market for continuous blood glucose monitoring is in for slow but steady growth, according to a new report from Allied Market Research. Though the relatively new market was valued at just $194.8 million in 2012, Allied projects it will hit $568.5 million by 2020, making for a compound annual growth rate of 14.8 percent between this year and 2020. "The market is overcoming several challenges towards the commercialization of closed loop CGMs with significant focus on technological innovation. This is expected to take the concept of CGM to a next level from research to mass adoption," AMR analyst Debbie Shields said in a statement. In continuous glucose monitoring, a patch or implanted sensor checks the glucose level in a user's interstitial fluid around every few minutes, sending the signals to a reading device via a transmitter. The technology has advantages over traditional blood glucose monitoring -- it's less invasive and can return data about blood glucose levels during sleep, or how glucose levels correspond to particular activities. For instance, DexCom continuous glucose monitors were used by cyclists in the mHealth Grand Prix this year. But adoption may have been Continue reading >>

I have PCOS + insulin resistance. Conceived DD1 after taking metformin. I am now pregnant (5wks) with my second. I've been taking metformin 850mg twice a day for 8 months now. Problem is, my ob wants me to cut down the dose to 850mg once a day and stop at 12 weeks. My insulin levels without metformin is all over the place and I am worried that my IR will be worse in pregnancy after eating all that bread I also had GD with my first pregnancy.
With DD1, I took the full dose till 12 weeks then slowly reduced and stopped at 14 weeks. After reading all the stories about mc on stopping metformin, I am terrified! I have already used a few boxes of preg tests because I am paranoid something bad might happen I haven't had the courage to reduce the dose yet. Have my first ob appoint in 3 weeks. I don't know if i can bring this up with him. I know I am being a little paranoid. What would you do? HELP!!!
ps: Sorry for rambling on like that. just had to get it all out in black and white. Thanks for listening!

Im another who has PCOS plus insulin resistance and my levels evened out when i was pregnant. I had no issues at all, same with my SIL who also had an insulin resistance. Maybe you could ask for your levels to be monitored and talk further about staying on the metformin if needed. It is safe to have it during pregnancy so i dont know why your OB would want you to stop.

  3. Artechim

Why do you need to come off the Metformin? If it is controlling your levels isn't that a good thing? I know they prefer injectable insulin during pregnancy in Aus, but Metformin has been used for GD as drug of choice in South Africa for over 20 years without ill effect.
Are you eating a good low GI diet? I know it is hard, especially if you have been hit with morning sickness.
