The study has not received much media coverage although it certainly addresses a question of importance to millions of people worldwide. More than 20 million people in the US have type 2 diabetes. According to the International Diabetes Foundation (IDF), the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in the last twenty years has risen from 30 million to over 246 million, or about 7.3% of the world population. The study, which is a systematic review, was published in a recent issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
