Provera And Metformin Success Stories

Any Metformin And Provera Success Stories?

Any Metformin And Provera Success Stories?

Any Metformin and provera success stories? My ob wants me to start provera and metformin first, before trying Clomid but I am scared of the metformin side effects. I was wondering if any of you ladies tried it and got pregnant. Hi, I am taking metformin (have to loose weight before getting clomid) like you I was worried about the side effects after reading things on forums. However the side effects havent been too bad for me and im taking 1000mgs twice a day (so 2000mg in total) i had stomach cramps and mild diarrhoea the first few days and still sometimes feel slightly nauseous after taking my last dose but its nothing that impacts on my daily life. Since taking them i have had an af (1st one in 6 months) and lost 12lbs in weight so it does work. Hope this helps a little, good luck x Yes she did say i would lose weight its good if it does that for me too ive been taking 500mg a day and no side effects im hoping when i up the dose its the same I think she wants me to work my way up to 2000mg a day The side effects haven't been horrible for me except when I took the generic first (Apotex manufactured). There is a major difference in some of the generics, so you might have to watch that. I got stomach cramps so bad I think they were worse than labor for about 30 minutes. I was about to head to the ER, but they stopped on their own. I had a bit of diarrhea the other day, but that could have been from something I ate as I had been on it awhile. I've gotten some more minor cramps a couple of times, but nothing I would stop taking it for. Good luck. I was recently prescribed Metformin. They were filled on Wednesday, and I have already been able to work up 1500mg a day (so I take 3 500 mg a day right now) and on Tuesday it will be the final 4 a day (2000 mg) at first I had so Continue reading >>

Metformin Success Stories??

Metformin Success Stories??

I was just diagnosed with PCOS this week. I am starting metformin today and am praying that it works. We have been trying for just about a year now and it kills me that it has taken this long. Does anyone have any success stories?? I need some good news.. I'm losing my mind. First of all, good luck to you! I've been on metformin, provera, then clomid for about 7 months now after being diagnosed with PCOS. No luck yet, but if you have PCOS I've heard the metformin is the first step in the right direction. I had really bad headaches at first, but the ones I think were caused by the metformin are pretty much gone now. I know that doesn't really answer your question, but hopefully gives you an idea of what's to come. @colleen1985 Thank you! I have heard that it can take awhile to work. I have also heard that it can happen very quickly. It just depends. Good luck to you!! @mrsf23 I was just recently diagnosed with PCOS as well. My doctor started me on Metforim, this is my first cycle with it and I have also been trying acupuncture. DH and I have been TTC since January and I've had 5 cycles (the longest being almost 90 days). Last month I had a normal cycle (for me) 34 days and I O'd on CD 21. This cycle is looking like it's going to be about the same (I'm on CD 19 today and I just got a positive OPK) but my temps have been more steady and I've had fertile CM for a few days already. I also feel like the Metforim is helping to regulate my sugars, I don't feel as hungry as I use to (although I definitely notice it more when I am later eating than normal). I know this doesn't really answer your question but hopefully that helps you to know what to expect when you first start taking it. My doctor started me out on 1 pill/day for the 1st wk, then 2 for the 2nd week and now I'm on Continue reading >>

So two weeks ago, I was officially diagnosed with PCOS (even though it wasn't difficult to figure out on my own with my long list of symptoms). Yesterday I went to see my doc & he basically said we're going to start with provera only the first cycle. The second will be provera, clomid, and metformin & repeated if no success. I have to get an HSG which I am nervous about, but my reason for posting is I want to know if there are success stories out there. With the use of these meds or others. It's been almost 2 years with no luck, few ovulations, & hardly any sightings of af. I want to remain positive & keep moving forward with all of this, but sometimes I feel like my head is going to explode from the stress. I'd appreciate any input/advice at all. I have heard of lots of success stories using those meds although I can't say I have been on them, other than clomid. I bet you'll get your bfp in no time! I would recommend getting a sperm friendly lube like preseed since clomid really dries out cm!! I just had an hsg done myself and it really wasn't bad. It felt more weird than painful and there was some cramping when Continue reading >>

Metformin Success Story : Pcos : Active Low-carber Forums

Metformin Success Story : Pcos : Active Low-carber Forums

I just wanted to share my good news for those of you who are on metformin and are wondering about how it will work for you... I started showing symptoms of PCOS about a year ago. My weight skyrocketed from 125 to 150 in 2 months, hair started growing on my sideburns, chin, nipples, and lower abdomen. I stopped getting a period on my own, so my doctor gave me provera every three months to induce one. I was doing my own research and started low-carbing, and I also heard a lot of great things about metformin, so I went to my doctor and insisted she refer me to a gynecologist. I don't know why she didn't do it sooner, but my gyn immediately gave me a metformin prescription and since DH and I are TTC, she told me to stop taking provera for the next six months. I started metformin on May 24th and on June 3rd, I got a period on my own for the first time in a year! I am now charting my temperature and have yet to determine if I'm ovulating or not...I guess I'll know in a couple of weeks! I wanted to share my story because I remember how anxious I was when I first started taking met and I was looking for anything that would give me some optimism that it would work. Good luck to all! Yeah, that is great. I started taking met on March 12, 2003 and even though I am getting cycels every 45 days I am getting one at least. That's great to hear that it worked for you too. I'm still waiting to see if I'm ovulating this month...I'm afraid I may be one of those cases that have periods but don't ovulate...although I'm hoping that's not what happens. Do you know if you're ovulating? If so, how long after starting met did you ovulate? I never had such luck on Metformin. I have PCOS which led to me having diabetes (had loads of fasting tests until one proved positive on 16th Nov 2001) Continue reading >>

Trying To Conceive Forum View Topic - Metformin And Provera, No Clomid

TTC with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? Find support here! I have been ttc about two years. Have had PCOS for 15 years. Been having 2-4 week periods for last 3 years with 1-3 weeks a month no bleeding. Been taking Met since early Feb. My dr has not wanted to give me Clomid even though I asked repeatedly. She told me to take Met & lose weight first. I grudgingly took off 10 lbs. After ultrasound, she consulted with an obgyn who said it would be "dangerous" for me to take Clomid. Instead they put me on provera for 10 days. Said after af from provera, to wait 30 days, take a pregnancy test, and if bfn, do another 10 days provera. btw af on provera was shorter (7 days), but way crazy heavy (had to wear depends! lol). Has anyone heard of success with no clomid, just Met & provera? didn't want to read and run. Have you consulted another doctor for a second opinion? I have been on both metformin and provera before but never had a repeated treatment. I took metformin 100mg for 6 months and only took provera if my cycles went over 60 days. so i'm not honestly sure what your doctors plan is but i'd see someone else who will repect your wishes. Thanks for the reply! I've got an appt & I'm going to insist on clomid. If not, I'm just going to try Met and lose weight. I have not found a dr. that will get over my weight and and actually try to help. First line treatment for PCOS is weight loss and metformin if you are significantly overweight. Even a 5-10% weight loss can restore fertility. Plus, metformin sometimes takes a few months before it starts helping. The reason that clomid or other stims could be dangerous for some women with PCOS is because we typically have a ton of follicles sitting around and several of them could respond at the same time and cause hyperstimulation. That be Continue reading >>

Metformin For Pcos | Ovagraph

September 9, 2016 at 2:45 pmI have TTC for some time now and having no success. I have been taking fertilaid, fertile cm, ovaboost and evening primrose oil for about 2 months now but it is not helping my cycles have been super long. The last 2 have been 66 days and 48 days. I just finished AF and I saw my doctor today. I have pcos. I had an ultrasound which showed many tiny cysts on both ovaries. I am not overweight. I am thin. I have very irregular cycles and I am constantly spotting. I rarely ovulate. My doctor prescribed me metformin today. She said it would regulate my cycle and hopefully get me pregnant. Has anyone with pcos become pregnant while taking metformin? I am going to come off the herbs and try metformin instead. Anyone that has been on or is currently using metformin please share your experience. September 9, 2016 at 3:12 pmIt does sound as if the supplements were working towards restoring some balance. With PCOS and cycle irregularity, it can take some time to see the results and if you had already seen your cycle length decrease, that's a good sign! It might be something to consider if Metformin doesn't work for you. Best wishes to you! September 12, 2016 at 4:00 amI am in a similar situation. My doctor also prescribed me Metformin, although my blood work did not show and insulin problems. I have read many success stories about women taking Metformin and getting pregnant September 15, 2016 at 5:26 pmI have pcos and have been on metformin for the past 2 years. Prior to this I had gone 7 years without needing provera to have a period. I also take fertility blend and have been having cycles 22-38 days and ovulating a few of these according to bbt. This is my first month trying with the ovacue mobile. Good luck with the metformin, it's hard on the stomach Continue reading >>

"???metformin + Provera???": Ttc With Pcos - Support Group

Welcome! I think it varies per person if Metformin works for them. I've heard 3-4 months from some, and others it's been longer. It also takes a while for it to build up in your system. My Dr. prescribed me to take 500 once a day for a week and then work up to 1500 a day. My body didn't handle the 1500 well, and I could only take 1000. Keep us posted! Me (23)(PCOS) and DH (23) TTC our first for a little over a year now. Tried Femara, looking at other options. summer_ryan replied to KMcEntire 's response: Thanks KMcEntire! My Dr. prescribed me one 500mg pill a day for 5 days then I need to take two a day for 5 days...Then it goes to three for another 5 days...THEN four a day...So basically she wants me to take 2000mg a day, but I just started the pill yesterday and I am having horrible stomach pain, cramps, nausea, and diarrhea!!! So I'm just a little scared to be getting to 4 pills a day...Hopefully my body will respond well! But I can handle it because if it brings me the wonderful gift a baby then I'll tough it out! I go Monday to get tested for diabetes which I am completely nervous about...I've been told that I am pre diabetic. How will this affect my chances if I am? My Dr. also told me that if this didn't work after 4 months that they would start me on Clomid... Thanks again...I really love that there are women here that know what I am going through and are here to help. I have been on metformin 2000mg for about 8 months now. I was not ovulating at all before i started it. metformin alone did not work for me (it didnt start ovulation). However, i am hoping that it worked in regulating insulin and therefore testosterone etc. Before i tried metformin i tried clomid just by itself which did not work for me either. i even tried metformin clomid that did not work eith Continue reading >>

All Communities > Mothers with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) > Has anyone on Clomid and Provera become pregnant? Has anyone on Clomid and Provera become pregnant? Brandie - posted on 07/12/2010 ( 20 moms have responded ) I have been on it 2 mos now and nothing. I know 2 mos is short and these are not magic pills. But I have not come across anyone yet who has gotten pregnant from them My dr said that Metformin has too many side effects. I dont know. I am thinkin about getting another dr. He confuses me. He says I have PCOS but my ovaries look normal, like a woman w/o PCOS and I have pains in my lower stomache he cannot explain. Yes, I did. My gynecologist gave me that exact combination for a couple of months and it didn't work, but then he referred me to a fertility doctor and the dr saw in an ultrasound that my egg wasn't big enough to drop, so he said I needed to take a bigger dose of Clomid. Also, I had to have a shot in my thigh or stomach the day before I needed to ovulate for the pregnancy to work. I got pregnant on the 2nd try. Have you tried metformin? I am currently starting it and I am no expert but I have a friend who had a hard time getting pregnent and she has pcos. She uses metformin when she is trying and has had success with it, she has a beautiful little girl. She has had a long hard road of trying to have children and has had great losses along the way but metformin has worked for her so I have all the hope in the world that it will work for me. I'm so sorry that you are having such a hard time getting pregnant, trust in God, he makes the impossible, possible! Continue reading >>

Clomid Success Story - It Does Work! - Fertilityfactor.com

I have been on/off this board over the last few years and just wanted to share my success story with you. Me and my DH have been trying to get preg for over 4 years with no success, we had every test under the sun done and were finally told "unexplained infertility" and started on clomid, on the 4th cycle of 50mg I finally got pregnant and am now currently typing this while looking at my beautiful 5 month old TWIN daughters :) , the years of trying were so hard, it used to rip me up inside to see pregnant women all around and I honestly thought it would never happen. Just wanted to say please hang in there, it will happen xxx Oh this is just what I needed to hear today! I am getting ready to start my first round of clomid (diagnosed with PCOS last month, currently taking glucophage and waiting for af). Some days are hopeful, others are overwhelming and depressing but this helped me out a lot. Congratulations on the twins! How was the clomid for you as far as side effects? Hi Stork :) I know exactly how you feel regards good days and bad days, the optimistic months and the months where you have no hope . I can honestly say i never thought it would happen and I had always heard that if clomid was going to work it would work in the first 3 cycles, I got my BFP on the 4th try. The side effects werent to bad, headaches and hot flushes for the first few days but nothing to drastic, I did find ovulation itself queit painful so would advise having a hot water bottle and some ibuprofen close to hand and once ov was over with I had no other symptoms for the rest of the cycle, another thing to bear in mind though is that clomid can make your cycles longer, I did not find this out until my 3rd try which led to a lot of testing and disappointment of bfns. Ironicly enough the month Continue reading >>

Starting On Provera And Clomid Finally!!!!

Starting On Provera And Clomid Finally!!!!

Starting on Provera and Clomid FINALLY!!!! Hello ladies. I'm not sure if any of you remember me, I pop and and out a lot. DH and I have a 4 year old son and I had a miscarriage in April 2009. We've been trying ever since to have another baby. I switched doctors and my new doctor did more tests the first day I seen him than my other doctor did in 9 years!!! (I am only 24 though). My new doctor recently diagnosed me with PCOS and decided to give me Clomid. I started Provera today to induce a period since I have very irregular cycles. I am anxious to start the Clomid, but I was wondering if anyone has had, or knows anyone who has had success with Provera and Clomid, or at least with Clomid. I have decided to start posting every few days so that I can share my experiences with everyone and hopefully end with a BFP!!! I've read so many good stories that I cannot help but think it will work for sure. If the Provera works how it should, I should be starting my first round of Clomid around Valentines day (the day after my bday!!!). So here's to a blessed 2011 for us all. And of course lots of baby dust!!!! That's a smart idea. I really wish the best for you!!! My cousin took Provera and clomid 4 years ago and she got pregnant the first cycle, unfortunately her son passed away 3 days after he was born but it had nothing to do with the clomid. She tried it again in 2010 but it didn't work, and she was put on metformin and it worked the first time, she's now pregnant with a little boy again. I took Provera last summer to start a period but I stopped after a few days bc of the bad cramps and it felt like a ton of pressure was on my bladder. Even though I stopped the medicine the last time I still ended up starting my period a couple days later, but I didn't have clomid for that cy Continue reading >>

Clomid Success Stories Taken On 3 7 Of Cycle - Page 91 - Pregnancy-info

Clomid Success Stories Taken On 3 7 Of Cycle Hi all-I just found this forum and wanted to share my success story on taking Clomid days 3-7. I was diagnosed in 2009 with PCOS after coming off birth control and not having but 3 periods in a year. My husband and I starting TTC right after Birth Control. I did lots of research and praying and was prescribed 100 mg of Clomid and metfornin after almost one year of TTC. I also took Provera to start my period (took almost 2 weeks for it to work) I also took Robitussin 3 times to day to help with cervical mucus while on clomid...When I went in for my day 21 lab my # was only 5.5. The doctor was not super optimistic as I only showed very minimal signs of ovulation. I used ovulation kits as well and never got a positive ovulation result. I also tested negative on a preg test on day 28. On week 5 I was susposed to go in for HSG procedure and for kicks I took a preg test before and well it was Positive. I went in for blood work and sure enough I was preggo. My doctor even laughed considering it was my first round of clomid and I had very minimal signs of ovulation. God works in mysterious ways!Whether it was a fluke or not I now have the most adorable, HEALTHY 10 month little girl named Leighton. As far as my PCOS the symptoms have lessened..I b___stfed for 7 months and have now had about 4 regular periods. I pray for all trying to conceive! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year. We succeeded in December of 2010, but because of a car crash I miscarried from medication on January 14th, 2011. Since then we've had no luck and I recently found out from my OBGYN that I have pco. He prescribed me Apo-Medroxy 10mg for 10 days to induce my period and 100mg of clomid to take on days 3-7 of my cycle. I'm on day 4 and Continue reading >>
