Are you maybe looking for the difference between the ER & non-ER? There is extended release (ER) & non-ER, which is not extended. The extended release works just as well as the other & does not give many the gastro effects the regular does. Not all people experience side effects with either, but I am one who wound up in the emergency room with the regular type from stomach pain. I have been taking the ER kind going on 2 weeks now, with very little issues (just some frequent movements that fiber stopped). Hope that helps if Jeanne didn't already answer your question.
