Things That Can Happen When You Don’t Treat Your Diabetes

Swallowing pills, checking your blood sugar all the time, or injecting needles full of insulin in the long run makes you irritated, and you start taking your life for granted. But taking steps to keep your diabetes under control is your best shot at preventing a slew of frightening complications. Diabetes can increase your risk of serious health problems most of which are entirely preventable if you keep your blood glucose in a healthy range. Fortunately, eating a nutritious diet, exercising, and taking your medication may not only stop complications from progressing but can also reverse them. Serious Health Issues You Can Suffer From If You Don’t Treat Your Diabetes: YOUR CHOLESTEROL & BLOOD PRESSURE RISES – With Type 1 diabetes, your body stops producing insulin – the hormone that regulates blood sugar. With Type 2 diabetes your body can’t properly use the insulin your body produces. In turn, your HDL (or “good”) cholesterol lowers, and your levels of harmful blood fats called triglycerides rise. Insulin resistance also contributes to hardened, narrow arteries, which in turn increases your blood pressure. As a result, maximum people with either type of diabetes suffer Continue reading >>

There is a reason why your doctor prescribed insulin for you to use. It is because your blood sugar levels went very high and you were in danger of dying.
Do you not think it is a bit silly of you to contemplate stopping it? What do you think will happen to you if you stop?
If you are having hypo feelings, its either because you are not eating enough carbohydrate at set meal times or if you are eating correctly, maybe the insulin doseage needs to adjusted. What you must not do if you want to live, is stop insulin.

Do You Have Diabetes And Don’t Know It?

Diabetes is undiagnosed in nearly 28 percent of Americans who have the disease, reports a new study published in CMAJ Open. This finding has significant implications for public health, the quality of health care — and maybe for you or someone you love. “Undiagnosed diabetes is an important problem because the condition develops insidiously and, in the early phase, symptoms are often rather vague and non-specific,” says lead study author, Tom Holt. “So by the time the diagnosis is made, a proportion of patients have established complications that would have been preventable by earlier detection and treatment.” (MORE: 9 Surprising Ways to Lower Your Diabetes Risk) In this large-scale analysis, researchers scanned 11.5 million electronic patient health records at more than 9,000 primary-care clinics across the United States. They looked at lab results that immediately identified patients as diabetic (though they had not been given that diagnosis in their record), including blood glucose (overnight fasting glucose) and a blood test called HbA1c, which reflects a person's average blood glucose levels over the past two to three months and is now commonly used to diagnose diabet Continue reading >>

Diabetes (type 2) Share This:

Diabetes is disabling, deadly and on the rise. In fact, diabetes is at epidemic proportions in the United States. There are two main types of diabetes. Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes occurs when your body can't make insulin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body makes some, but not enough, insulin. It is generally accompanied by an inability to respond normally to insulin. Ninety to 95 percent of people with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes. A complex relationship between insulin, glucose, your liver and other hormones ensures that your blood sugar stays within set limits. Here's how it works: When you eat, your body breaks down carbohydrates from foods into various sugar molecules. One of these is glucose which is absorbed directly into your bloodstream, to be used or stored. When you don't eat, your liver (and kidney) produce sugar for fuel. Insulin causes glucose to be absorbed into your cells, where it can be used for energy. The pancreas produces insulin and regulates how much is released into your body. If you don't eat for a long period, the pancreas limits release of insulin. After a meal or a snack, the pancreas sends extra insulin into your bloodstream. If you have more g Continue reading >>
