What Are Good Sodas To Mix With Vodka?

Acidic sodas would be mostly good choices. And also energy-drinks are good to keep spirits up and dampen the vodka flavor at the same time (although dont overdo it, could be dangerous, but as long as you use common sense youre good). A good tip when mixing vodka with any sodas is to add a squeeze of lime to it. It heightens basically any mixer, and your guests will love you for it :) And also i always mix with calorie/sugar free sodas as you save 200300 calories per drink. And you only get calories from the vodka itself which would come in at only around 100 cals. Here are my top choices of soda mixers to use with vodka: This is the best in my opinion as it does not kill the vodka taste, it just compliments it in a great way. And the mix is real easy to drink. Maybe too easy sometimes? This is the best energy drink to mix with in my opinion. It completely kills the vodka which allows you to add more vodka. It also comes in a zero calorie version which actually taste really f***ng great: Also good choices are: Schweppes, Mountain Dew and Slushies (Not really a soda i know, but still awesome) Try to avoid: Cola/coke/pepsi (ugh), Orange Flavored Sodas (Its OK, but there is a reason it is not a staple in any bar and you definitely wont impress anyone by serving this), Club Soda (If you love the vodka taste, then sure But for most people it is a vomit inducer) Originally Answered: What are some sodas that mix well with vodka? Talking plain flavorless vodka: I can't think of a single soda that wouldn't mix well. Tonic is great. Lemon-lime is good. Ginger is good, especially with another mixer. Root beer is good. Cola is good. For sweeter tastes, any fruit-flavored soda works (orange, grape, cherry, etc), or cream soda. For lighter flavors, carbonated water (flavored or unfla Continue reading >>

The Best Food To Pair With Vodka

The Best Food To Pair With Vodka

Posted by Fiona Beckett (Google+) on January 10 2017 at 09:01 Vodka may be primarily thought of as a base for cocktails but in vodka-loving countries like Russia and Poland its always accompanied by food. Basically anything smoked, pickled or cured works well. Here are some ideas: * Caviar or lumpfish roe (If the latter use to top sliced or stuffed eggs or mini baked potatoes with sour cream) * Smoked fish of all kinds - smoked salmon, smoked mackerel and especially smoked eel * German and Polish style sausage, especially smoked sausage * Pierogi (Polish-style dumplings) - theres a recipe here * Beetroot in all guises - borscht, beetroot salad, beetroot pickle * Cucumber, ditto - in a salad (especially with dill) and pickled. Those big sweet-sour cucumbers are especially good. * Russian salad (carrots, peas and potato) or the more elaborate Salad Olivier * Creamy or salty cheeses, especially with dill Vodka would also go with the sort of dishes you serve with other white spirits such as aquavit, ouzo or raki so if you fancy taking it in another direction try Greek or Turkish-style meze. I'm having a girls night and were getting vodka. Its nasty i know but its cheap and were broke as a joke. So what kinda of chaser(s) would be really good? Usually its Tahiti Treat or Mt. Dew. Update: I can't have orange juice it makes me sick to my stomach. Are you sure you want to delete this answer? coke, pepsi, dr pepper or any other coke relative. many other fizzz drink work well, just experiment. as i said just experiment, you will soon know if somethingdoesn'tt go well together. Everything goes with vodka! It's pretty much just pure alcohol with water. Tomato juice, worcestershire sauce and tabasco make a Bloody Mary (classic, but not everyone's favourite), cranberry juice is good (much better if you can find some fresh limes too!) and so is orange juice. If you mix vodka, cranberry, fresh lime and fresh orange you've almost got a cosmo! Grapefruit juice is very refreshing, but I think it's nicer with half sprite. Grape juice is a weird choice but it works too. You can also make jelly shots with vodka (make sure you don't heat the vodka as this can evaporate the alcohol!) very easily. You can mix it or chase it with anything you like, but I prefer not to have it with milk. If you're feeling tired but you're sick of redbull, vodka is amazing in a shot of cold, black coffee with plenty of sugar. do it the russian way!we don't mix vodka with anything but drink it neat in shots of 50 gr (in russia vodka is sold per gramm and not ml).and slightly chilled. NOT ice cold, if you get icecold vodka in russia it means that the waiter/owner is cheating on you and sells inferior stuff. if the vodka is so cold, than you can not taste anything anymore.... BUT have then something to snack around, cubes or slices of brown bread, nice spicy salami, pickles, might that be onions, c Continue reading >>

This Caribbean Food Festival Puts Rum in Everything This Giant 1920s Warehouse Is Now a Southern Food Paradise Newsflash: unless you're rolling deep in the club, you don't actually need to spend top dollar on top-shelf vodkas like Grey Goose or Belvedere. The boom in distilling has led to countless distilleries springing up, many of which are making amazing vodka on the cheap -- and some don't even have that many calories! . Instead of shelling out your whole paycheck for a single bottle, try one of these 13 reasonably priced vodkas hand-picked by some of our favorite bartenders. "Whether it's college kids or your grand-folks' stash, I have always noticed a frosted magnum bottle of Absolut sitting in the freezer," says Peter Kanaat, bartender at SBE in Los Angeles. He also likes how it mixes well with almost everything: "You never get that harsh aftertaste or strong alcohol finish; it is extremely balanced from beginning to end." Being a potato vodka, Luksusowa puts gluten-phobes at ease -- even though any distilled spirit, by the very nature of the distillation process, theoretically contains no gluten. "Like other potato vodkas, it has a remarkably smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with a touch of sweetness," says Keith Villanueva, lead bartender at Sazerac in Seattle. Luksusowa also lacks the grainy spice of the other wheat- and rye-based neutral spirits, allowing it to easily change colors when mixed into a cocktail. Jovelle's distilled in France using the exact same soft winter wheat and underground aquifer water as Grey Goose. "The difference is that Sazerac finishes the vodka here in the US, making a sophisticated vodka that you could drink straight with an ice cube," says Feisser Stone, bartender at Hinoki & the Bird in Los Angeles. "It's clean and lightly floral, b Continue reading >>

The Best Juices To Mix With Vodka

The Best Juices To Mix With Vodka

Traditional vodka is colorless, odorless and tasteless, allowing it to take on the flavor of whatever it is mixed with. According to the mixology professionals behind the classic "Mr. Boston Bartender's Guide," vodka lovers drink the spirit for its mouth-feel and finish -- both may be subtle or harsh, depending on the brand. Because vodka offers a neutral flavor, you can mix it with any juice you have on hand, but bartenders recommend a few classic combinations. Vodka mixed with orange juice is a classic combination. credit: Jon Feingersh/Blend Images/Getty Images Mix orange juice with vodka to make a classic drink known as the Screwdriver. Pour 1 1/2 oz. vodka and 5 oz. orange juice into a highball glass filled with ice. Stir thoroughly. Tomato juice is the base for the Bloody Mary. For the simplest version of this drink, combine 1 1/2 oz. vodka with 3 oz. tomato juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. For a spicier cocktail, add a dash of lemon juice, 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce, two or three drops Tabasco sauce and salt and pepper to taste before shaking it up. Garnish and stir with a stalk of celery. Sometimes called an Adam and Eve, vodka mixed with apple juice offers a light, sweet cocktail. Fill a highball glass with ice and add 2 oz. vodka. Fill the glass with apple juice, and add a splash of lime juice if you want a hint of citrus. Garnish and stir with a stick of cinnamon. Continue reading >>

Located a mile north of the Sarasota International Airport in Bradenton, Florida, The Banana Factory is a favorite destination for locals and tourists alike. A cranberry vodka martini is best served chilled and strained. To make the premier yet simple cranberry vodka martini, mix three and a half ounces cranberry-infused vodka and half an ounce cranberry juice. Shake gently and strain into a chilled martini glass. You can garnish with an orange to offset the tartness. Serving the crantini with a sugar-rimmed glass is always a hit with the ladies. I would describe a cranberry vodka martini as slightly tart, but very refreshing. A cranberry vodka martini is great after, or during, a hot Florida day. Here in the Sarasota area, just about any day is great for a crantini. At the Banana Factory, women tend to enjoy these flavored vodka drinks -- like cranberry vodka -- more than men. In a highball glass full of ice, mix one and a half ounces cranberry vodka, half an ounce of cranberry juice and one ounce orange juice. Stir and serve. You can garnish it with a cherry. A Madras has a bitter yet satisfying taste to it. If mixed right, you will be able to taste all the elements of the drink -- both the orange juice and the cranberry. It is best to drink a Madras after or during a hot day here in Florida. Basically any day is a good day at the Banana Factory to drink a Madras. Madrases are ordered more by ladies. However, men occasionally order one for themselves. There's no specific age range. You just have to be a vodka drinker. A Jaded is a very simple drink to Continue reading >>

Jon September 23, 2011 Vodka 101 21 Comments 118,805 Views Good Vodka Mixers are key to truly enjoying your Vodka Mixed Drinks and Vodka Cocktails. Everyone has their favorites, but the great Vodka Mixers must accomplish a few things. First, the Vodka Mixer must be able to assimilate well with the vodka. What I mean is, you want the two to compliment each other and one not just mask the taste of the other. When you eat onion dip, you still want to be able to taste the onion and not just overpower it with other flavors! The Vodka Mixers listed below are what I consider to be the best ones out there and should be tried by everyone. Vodka is an all time favorite at parties, so know what to offer with them that will make everyone at your party happy! Believe it or not, this soda works really well as both a vodka mixer and vodka chaser. If you havent had squirt in a while, it tastes a little like Sprite mixed with some Mountain Dew. Its unique citrus and carbonated flavors actually work really well in vodka. Im a bit partial to a little carbonation in my vodka mixers, and so this is a nice change up. I wouldnt suggest ordering this in the club or at a bar, but if youre at a house party or get together, why not throw it out there? It wont give you any points for class, but its still a great tasting mixer. Going down the line, its only natural that Mountain Dew would be on this list. It used to be a lot more popular than it has been lately, but that doesnt stop it from being among my favoritevodka mixers. Mountain Dew is another one of those citrus-flavored sodas thats easy to mix with and doesnt require a lot of work. All you have to do is buy your favorite vodka and pick up a pack of Mountain Dew. The common vodka cocktail for using Mountain Dew as a vodka mixer is called a Continue reading >>

How To Drink Vodka - Best Way To Drink Vodka

How To Drink Vodka - Best Way To Drink Vodka

Created for From Esquire for Created by Esquire for Ask Brje Karlsson, master blender of the vodka that carries his last name, if he'd like a cocktail made with his product, and he'll look at you as if you had just asked to teach his daughter pole dancing. If you think about it, he's not wrong. The cocktail was created to make distilled spirits docile and fit for polite company. But spiking them with bitters and sugar or lemon juice and imported liqueurs and waltzing them around with ice isn't the only way to accomplish that. You can also put your rough, raw hooch in a barrel and age it for a generation or so in the hope that the impurities will evaporate before all the alcohol does. Or you can distill it to the greatest purity you can achieve and then filter the result at a submicron level, thus stripping off all but traces of everything that isn't ethyl alcohol or water, at which point you can just put it in a glass and drink it. That last one is the traditional approach in vodka's homeland, the northern and eastern parts of Europe. Indeed, as far back as the time of Ivan the Terrible, it was known as "bread wine" and consumed accordingly. On its home turf, vodka is almost always drunk in little chilled shots alongside little plates of this and that (zakuski, as they're called in Russian). To try this is one of the best illustrations we know of why drinking things the way the people who make them do is always a good policy, as it's hands down the most delightful way to drink vodka. Though it requires a few rules. First of all, the vodkas should be chilled to viscousness a couple hours in the freezer at least. Second comes portion control. The tall shot glasses you use should be filled only halfway. To quote the late William Pokhlebkin, a Russian culinary expert who l Continue reading >>

Vodka Cranberry Cocktail

Vodka Cranberry Cocktail

You are here: Home / Cocktails / Vodka Cranberry Cocktail MixThatDrink may receive commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Please read our disclosure . You might think the Vodka Cranberry cocktail is simply vodka and cranberry juice , especially since thats how some bars serve it. Well, some bars are lazy and shameful. This drink is actually a little more complicated than its name might lead you to believe. A proper Vodka Cranberry also uses a touch of Roses lime and orange juice to bring out the best of the cranberry flavor. This cocktail recipe is pretty light on the alcohol, so feel free to vary it according to your taste and tolerance. The only alcohol in it is vodka, so you can add a little more if you prefer. You can also leave it out completely when you want a mocktail . The great thing about this drink is how refreshing it is. The lime and cranberry are both tart, and you get some sweetness from the dash of orange juice and whatever other fruits are in your cranberry juice (bottled cranberry juice always has other fruits mixed in to soften the extremely tart cranberry juice ). So the flavor of this drink wakes up your taste buds. Continue reading >>
