Caring For Diabetes With Reiki And Energy Work

Caring for Diabetes with Reiki and Energy Work Diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions we face in the US. Contrary to the common assumption, the conditionis not just a nutritional disorder of glucose (sugar), but of carbohydrates as a whole, fats and proteins. (All need insulin to work properly.) There are three major types: Type I, Type II, and Gestational. Reiki treatment or self-care can help with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of caring fordiabetes. Louise Hay, pioneer of energy work and affirmations, describes the negative mental patterning behind this conditionas:Longing for what might have been. A great need to control. Deep sorrow. No sweetness left. (Hay, 164). Fundamentally, diabetes is a dysfunction of the Solar Plexus or Navel Chakra. The Solar Plexus, or Navel, chakra is the seat of ourpersonal power. When it is balanced we feel: When it is out of balance, it can manifest in our life as power-struggle, misuse of power, helplessness, anger, bitterness, and digestive complaints (among other things). To counter the negative cycle of sorrow and perceived powerlessness, Hay recommends an affirmation Ive adapted to incorporate Solar Plexus attributes from Davies (50): I am open to joy in my life. I now take command of my life, respecting others to command their own.I now choose to experience the sweetness of today. For more on affirmation work, see: How to Use an Affirmation Mala . When it comes to regulating blood sugar with diet, I always start by looking at everything else: Protein: Are yougetting enough protein at each meal? TheRecommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight per day for Continue reading >>

Reiki Hand Positions

Books and Masters do not agree on Reiki hand positions. What is important, when treating a person, is that you position your hands on all parts of the body that need to be treated. For example,if a patient has a problem with his/her wrist, position your hands over the wrist(although this is not illustrated here in this web page). Each position should be held for approximately three minutes. An easy way to time yourself is to use our Reiki with Tibetan Bell music that warns you every three minutes, with the beautiful sound of the Tibetan bell, that it is time to change position. If you are new to Reiki, you may also like our Reiki With Instructions Music that verbally informs you every three minutes where to move your hands. You can however stay on a position as long as you feel you need to,then move on to the next position. This may mean staying in the same position for a long time. Reiki - Better Health Channel

Reiki is a natural form of therapy, which uses non-invasive gentle touch to promote feelings of wellbeing. Do not be afraid to question the practitioners credentials, training and professional association membership. Do not trust any therapist who says they can cure serious illness or asks you to abandon other treatments. Reiki, pronounced ray-key, is a Japanese form of therapy that aims to increase energy levels and promote relaxation and wellbeing. Developed in the late 19th century, reiki is applied through non-invasive, non-manipulative gentle touch. The underlying philosophy of reiki is that if a persons energy is low, they are more likely to be unwell or stressed. If it is high, however, they are more capable of being happy and feeling well. Reiki will not cure illnesses or disease, but it may help your body to feel more relaxed and peaceful. Reiki is not a treatment for illness or disease. Reiki is a complementary therapy in that it works alongside other medical and therapeutic techniques. Some reiki practitioners claim they can heal serious diseases, such as cancer. This may prompt a person with cancer to abandon medically proven treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Always be guided by your doctor or specialist. Be very wary of any reiki practitioner who advises you to abandon your conventional medical treatment. Do not stop any medical treatments on the advice of your reiki practitioner. A professional reiki practitioner is someone who has completed at least the second level of a reiki course and is insured appropriately. A professional reiki practitioner should also have first aid skills and membership of a professional organisation. Most countries have professional reiki associations for practitioners. These associations will have a set Continue reading >>

I have diabetes. I was told that I needed a heart catheterization, so one was scheduled. I live in a rural area and traveling to Syracuse, New York, was necessary. There was also a two-week wait. During this time I went with my partner to a college graduation party. There I met a woman who asked me if I was feeling OK. We discussed a few things, and then Continue reading >>

Reiki: Can Hands Really Heal?

Reiki: Can Hands Really Heal?

If you've been reading about yoga, meditation or tai chi, you've probably at least heard a passing mention of reiki, a Japanese practice that utilizes heat and energy to heal and soothe discomfort. So, what does this ancient technique consist of and how does it work? The word means "life force energy," and the technique is based on the idea that when this type of energy is low, the body is more likely to be negatively affected by stress or illness. Proponents of the practice say that it can create feelings of glowing radiance that affect the mind, body and spirit. During a reiki session, a practitioner holds his or her hands slightly above your body at specific points until they feel that a warm or tingling sensation has slowed down or stopped. Reiki involves 12 to 15 positions, and each is held for roughly two to five minutes. Sessions usually last 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the setting and your reason for getting the treatment. Typically, people use reiki for relaxation and stress relief. However, it is also commonly used as a complementary or alternative medicine (CAM) to help treat anxiety, pain and symptoms of HIV or AIDS and may be used by people experiencing side effects of cancer treatment. The practice is thought to benefit people who are nearing the end of life, both as a stress and pain reliever. It's important to note that you should never use reiki as a substitute for proven treatments and medications. Always consult with your primary care physician regarding any CAM you are using, even if it comes with no apparent risks or side effects, as is the case with reiki. Talking openly with your health care provider about all of the treatments and practices you use to maintain your health will help them recommend safe and coordinated care. Currently, governme Continue reading >>

Stories and inspirations on thriving with diabetes My son and I started going to a reiki master in December to help us overcome some health issues. And four sessions later, I'm trying to figure out whether to continue with this positively amazing practice, or whether to try something else. Why? Because although I find reiki to be enormously beneficial - in so many intangible ways - I haven't seen a change in my physical health. I lost range of motion in my right hip after giving birth to my twins in May. Is there a connection? Don't know, but the timing is there. I also developed carpal tunnel in my right hand along with trigger finger in my pinky after they were born, which is common for new moms to experience. As for my son, who was born very small, we had hoped that the reiki would help him with his catch up growth, GI issues (namely severe reflux), and feeding issues. He had a few more issues, and lots of questions, when he started, and since, much has been sorted out. I don't know if it's just coincidence or a matter of time or the reiki clearing the energetic way, but I have found that he has been making slow and steady progress. Answers have been found to perplexing questions, and doctors appointments have become easier to handle. I, on the other hand, have seen no change in my hip, finger, or hand. No answers. And not much time to even deal with it. I have though made some really nice progress with career. I have become more self-assured. I have gotten rid of a lot of negative energy in my life. And when the negativity creeps back in, I get reiki done. And it magically disappears. Reiki is a Japanese technique that helps reduce stress and promote healing, and is based on a theory that a life force energy exists within us all. When this life force is out of bala Continue reading >>

Healing With Reiki | Newyork-presbyterian

Healing With Reiki | Newyork-presbyterian

How NewYork-Presbyterians Integrative Health and Wellbeing program uses this ancient practice to aid in managing pain and reducing stress. Manna Lu-Wong says she needs only one minute to convince skeptics of the therapeutic effects of Reiki, a technique in which a practitioner lightly places his or her hands on a patient with the goal of facilitating the patients ability to tap into the bodys natural healing process. Many times the person has to feel it, says integrative nurse and Reiki practitioner/master teacher Lu-Wong, R.N. The sensation of the warm, subtle vibrations has a calming effect, and most times patients feel relaxed after the session. And once they feel it, they realize I am right. Lu-Wong is among a group of practitioners at the Integrative Health and Wellbeing program at NewYork-Presbyterian, in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, who are using a range of holistic healing techniques to manage pain, decrease anxiety, and promote health and wellbeing. These traditionally Eastern practices, such as yoga and acupuncture, in addition to Reiki, complement but dont replace Western medical care. Reiki is based on an Eastern belief in energy that supports the bodys innate or natural healing abilities. In simple terms, Reiki is energy, and the body recognizes this energy and uses it for its therapeutic effects, says Lu-Wong, who is also a licensed acupuncturist. During a Reiki session, the treatment room is set up with low lighting and soft music, and the table dressed in bed linens, creating a serene environment. I explain to the patient what Reiki is, different hand positions, how long the hand positions remain on the body [usually three to five minutes], and what they may experience, says Lu-Wong. The session can either be a light touch or hands hoverin Continue reading >>

Reiki - Diabetes Self-management

Reiki - Diabetes Self-management

An energy-based therapy that originated in Japan. The development of Reiki is usually credited to a 19th-century Japanese physician and monk named Mikao Usui, who trained others in its use. According to some sources, the practice had its roots in ancient Buddhist texts called Tibetan sutras. The term Reiki is derived from two Japanese characters rei, which roughly translates to universal, and ki, which means, roughly, life-force energy. The Reiki practitioner strives to access the universal ki to promote healing. He places his hands on or near the person receiving treatment to transmit ki to the person. Reiki practitioners also use Reiki to heal themselves. Reiki has been used for many different health purposes, including reducing stress, easing chronic pain and side effects of chemotherapy, and enhancing the immune system, mental clarity, and a sense of well being. Few scientific studies have looked into Reiki. What research there is hasnt shown conclusively that Reiki is more effective than a placebo (inactive treatment) at improving health, nor has it yielded clear theories as to how Reiki might work. People sometimes report feeling more relaxed after a Reiki session, which could help to reduce nausea, pain, and fatigue. Reiki is generally considered safe, and no serious side effects have been reported with its use. However, some people report feelings of weakness or tiredness, headache, or stomachache from Reiki. Reiki practitioners attribute these effects to a cleansing crisis, in which the body releases toxins. When people develop such symptoms, Reiki practitioners generally recommend remedies such as getting more rest, drinking plenty of water, and eating a lighter diet. If you choose to try Reiki, let your health-care team know about it and any effects positive Continue reading >>

Diabetes is a common but serious illness that affects millions of people throughout the world. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, approximately 422 million people on the planet were suffering from diabetes in 2014, and the number is increasing every year. A number of treatments exist for diabetes, but the condition continues to cause problems for people everywhere, often worsening over time. Fortunately, recent research has shown that Reiki may be beneficial to individuals struggling this condition. Diabetes is a condition that occurs when the pancreas stops producing adequate amounts of insulin or when the body becomes unable to use the insulin produced effectively. This forces the amount of sugar in the blood to increase, which causes damage to the bodys organ systems. Left unchecked, diabetes can lead to many serious complications and adverse effects. Specifically, people who suffer from diabetes may experience: A higher risk of heart attack and stroke. To control diabetes, medical professionals recommend a variety of strategies. Most people with diabetes are encouraged to check their blood sugar on a regular basis and keep record of fluctuations. People with diabetes may also take oral medications, injectable medications and/or insulin. In addition, diabetes patients may benefit from changes to their diet, as well as regular exercise. Reiki is a Japanese origin therapy based on the concept of energy flow. A practitioner performing Reiki uses touch and specific hand positions to encourage the flow of the clients energy, dissolving energy blockages and facilitating the bodys natural healing response. The belief behind this treatment is that discomfort and illness are the result of blocked or disturbed energy pathways within the body. The goal of Rei Continue reading >>

Usui Treatment Guide

Usui Treatment Guide

The Usui Treatment Guide or Usui Ryoho Shishin is part of a brief document: The Reiki Ryoho Hikkei, which was compiled in the 1970's by Kimiko Koyama, sixth kaicho (president / chairman) of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai. The Treatment Guide was purportedly written by Usui-Sensei himself. Though it has on more than one occasion been suggested that the Treatment Guide itself may have actually been compiled by Chujiro Hayashi on Usui-Sensei's behalf, and it does bear similarities to Hayashi-Sensei's own Treatment Guide. (Yet another theory is that the Usui Ryoho Shishin is in fact only slightly older than the 1970's compilation it is part of) Usui-Sensei is said by some to have given copies of his Ryoho Shishin to all of his students. The Treatment Guide as it appears in theReiki Ryoho Hikkei is divided into 11 sections or 'chapters' and is, as the name suggests, simply a guide - a brief series of prompts as to suitable areas for topical treatment. It seems to have been intended primarily for first level students, as more advanced level students would have been expected to have developed the levels of sensitivity necessary to determine areas for topical treatment by means of Byosen, and Reiji. Since author and Reiki Teacher Frank Petter received a printed copy of the Reiki Ryoho Hikkei from Tsutomu Oishi in 1997, several other researchers have also managed to locate copies from other sources and produce translations. However. as the Treatment Guide section of the Hikkei is essentially just a wordlist, there is little variation between one translation and another. One point commented on by many people used to working with the Chakra-based treatment practices found in many Western forms of Reiki is that in the Treatment Guide, there is absolutely no reference to the chakra sy Continue reading >>

Reiki Treatment Suggestions For Different Ailments

Reiki Treatment Suggestions For Different Ailments

In the western method of Reiki it has been the norm to recommend a full body treatment for any medical problem. Personally, as mentioned before, I have found that treating specific chakras or points connected to the organ or energy blockage causing the problem gives a much better result. Based on a broad knowledge of the eastern way of looking at disease and methods for healing via the meridian system and acupuncture points etc. I have compounded information about which Reiki hand positions yield the best results for a specific problem. My system is based on the common Reiki hand positions used here in the Western world. I have divided the body and positions into 4 different areas: Head, Body, Legs/Feet and Back. If you choose the disease in the drop down menu above you will get a page with the Reiki hand positions that are most effective for that specific problem. You can also click to see a picture and a description of any position given. Continue reading >>

Reiki Hand Positions You Can Do Yourself

Reiki Hand Positions You Can Do Yourself

You are here: Home / Reiki / Reiki Hand Positions You Can Do Yourself If you arent familiar with it, Reiki is a Japanese art of healing and stress reduction. It is thought that the gentle touches of a practitioners hands can help to redirect the energy flow of the individual who is being treated so that they no longer suffer from whatever ails them. Reiki can be practiced on yourself or on another, but its important to familiarize yourself with the hand positions in order to gain the best results for your efforts. There are a couple of Reiki hand positions which are known to be very helpful in treating everything from the sinuses to ears, nose and stress. The first position requires you to cup your hands over your face. The heels of the hands should be resting at about the cheekbones, while the fingertips sit at just about the hairline. Always make sure there is no pressure from the touching, just a feather light feeling of the hands connecting with the face. This hand position is especially good for the sinuses, so close your eyes and hold it there for a moment, while you feel the energy transferring from the hands to this area of the face and head. The second Reiki hand position which can be very useful in helping with problems of the head and sinuses, in addition to stress and tiredness is one in which you put both of your hands on your head. Put the right hand on right side and left hand on left side of the head. Let the heels of the hand rest at about the temples, while the fingertips cover the crown of the head. Remember to keep a very light touch and close your eyes and relax while you feel the energy warming and tingling through this area of the head. If you suffer from neck and tension headaches then there is a Reiki hand position for you. By putting your hand Continue reading >>
