Assembler II(Current Employee) Plymouth, MN 19 April 2018 One of the things that made it hard for me to keep working there, was the lazy/problematic coworkers and bad management. They are inexperienced in a lot of things (computers, tweezers, etc.) Which isn't terrible, because there are trainers there to help, but the problem is they don't show interest in learning more when you try to teach them. They just want to sit around and get paid. And then when you point out that they should be helping, they make a bigger problem out of it so that it looks like we were targeting them because of their race/culture/ethnicity. These coworkers can somehow get away with sneaky extended lunch breaks, 30 min-1 hr long bathroom breaks, chatting in other lines for 10+ mins, and sitting around/napping when clearly, work needs to be done. Whenever there is any problem that should be reported to management, we are told to voice our concerns in good faith. And we do. We have told our leads, our supervisors and if needed, our managers. But nothing has changed. They may have talked to whomever, but not stern enough. People aren't afraid because they know management can't do anything but talk to them with 500 warnings. So they know, "I can still get away with this and not get fired". Leniency is good, but management here is WAY too lenient. Other than that, if you're lucky, you get to work with actual hard working and respectful coworkers. But chances are slim. There's also great benefits for full-time employees and that's about it. Short breaks, lazy/problematic coworkers, bad management, lack of sincere recognition, no fun events besides a late summer picnic and a few potlucks with plain food Politics is the culture. Fortunate to have spent over a decade with Medtronic, I can honestly say that their mission, direction, and motivation are genuine. I acknowledge as with any company, that financial motives are a key factor in decision making, but I can honestly say that I have witnessed a substantial number of occasions where the patient, customer, and employee come before the financial impact of the situation. This in combination with the direction that our current CEO (Omar Ishrak) is steering us gives me genuine belief in the overarching goal of our company and allows me to sleep soundly at night. On the other hand, between the CEO (and his team) and the employees that are working day-in-and-day-out with the patients exists a completely misaligned and borderline antagonistic component of corporate culture at it worst. I have witnessed far too many examples of corporate 'jockeying' and allowing personal career agendas to supersede good corporate stewardship in the local, Australian market. Now, I understand that it is admirable and more than acceptable to want to advance your career with any organization, but it should never be at the cost of the 'external focus' of the company; which happens to be one of the key-traits for the company. To that note, and as my final recommendation/review, I recommend approaching Medtronic ANZ with caution as the mission will carry us all, but the local politics will make the ride rather uncomfortable. Medtronic plc announced today that Bob White, previously senior vice president and president of Medtronic's Asia Pacific (APAC) Region, has been named executive vice president and president of Medtronic's Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG). In addition, the company announced that Chris Lee, senior vice president and president of Medtronic's Greater China Region, will assume the position of APAC Region president. Lee will remain the interim president of the Greater China Region until a permanent successor is named in the coming weeks. These leadership changes are effective immediately. Much of the prior-year compensation and this year's as well came from the exercise of stock options and restricted stock that vested.
