Can You Reverse Type 2 Diabetes?

Can You Reverse Type 2 Diabetes?

It sounds too good to be true: reversing type 2 diabetes through exercise and healthy eating. While certain lifestyle changes are key to managing diabetes, whether you can actually turn back time so that it's like you never had diabetes is a different matter. That depends on how long you've had the condition, how severe it is, and your genes. "The term 'reversal' is used when people can go off medication but still must engage in a lifestyle program in order to stay off," says Ann Albright, PhD, RD. She's the director of diabetes translation at the CDC. Shedding extra pounds and keeping them off can help you better control your blood sugar. For some people, reaching a healthier weight will mean taking fewer medications, or in rarer cases, no longer needing those medications at all. Losing 5% to 10% of your body weight and building up to 150 minutes of exercise a week may help you to slow or stop the progress of type 2 diabetes. "If you sit [inactive] most of the day, 5 or 10 minutes is going to be great," Albright says. "Walk to your mailbox. Do something that gets you moving, knowing that you're looking to move towards 30 minutes most days of the week." In one study, people with type 2 diabetes exercised for 175 minutes a week, limited their calories to 1,200 to 1,800 per day, and got weekly counseling and education on these lifestyle changes. Within a year, about 10% got off their diabetes medications or improved to the point where their blood sugar level was no longer in the diabetes range, and was instead classified as prediabetes. Results were best for those who lost the most weight or who started the program with less severe or newly diagnosed diabetes. Fifteen percent to 20% of these people were able to stop taking their diabetes medications. Continue reading >>

Reversing Diabetes: Naturally Reverse Diabetes In 30 Days

According to the US Center for Disease Control (the US CDC), 25.8 million Americans are already struggling with reversing diabetes and nearly 80 million more are living in a pre-diabetic state. Even more alarming — many of them not even being aware of the danger for how close they are to having to struggle with a lifetime of this dangerous and debilitating disease. These numbers are absolutely staggering. We are, after all, talking about nearly 25% of the entire US population living with a disease that can completely transform our lives in the blink of an eye. Diabetes works to shut down critical systems throughout the body, and is not only deadly but can also require amputation long before it actually takes our lives. In turn, forcing us to lead the kinds of lives that none of us had ever envisioned. On top of that, the cost of treating diabetes is absolutely sky high. In 2012 alone (the last time this research was conducted) more than $245 billion was spent annually on diabetes treatment. $176 billion was spent in direct medical costs and another $69 billion was lost due to decreases in productivity. (mainly from individuals having to leave the workforce because of this condition) According to the New York Times in a variety of other sources, one dollar out of every five dollars spent on healthcare costs in the United States is spent on diabetes. Diabetes is also the seventh leading cause of death in the United States today. One out of three Americans are going to be at risk of coming down with diabetes at some point in their lives. This often results from poor lifestyle decisions (specifically dietary and exercise decisions) we make on a day to day basis. We are talking about a disease A disease that is going to cause sky high blood pressure levels, kidney disease, Continue reading >>

That’s why it’s so important to take steps to reverse diabetes and the diabetes epidemic in America. Type 2 diabetes is a dangerous disease that can lead to many other health conditions when it’s not managed properly, including kidney disease, blindness, leg and food amputations, nerve damage, and even death. (1) Type 2 diabetes is a completely preventable and reversible condition, and with diet and lifestyle changes, you can greatly reduce your chances of getting the disease or reverse the condition if you’ve already been diagnosed. If you are one of the millions of Americans struggling with diabetes symptoms, begin the steps to reverse diabetes naturally today. Diabetes is affecting people of all ages, including 132,000 children and adolescents younger than 18 years old. (2) The prevalence of prediabetes is also on the rise, as it’s estimated that almost 34 million U.S. adults were prediabetic in 2015. People with prediabetes have blood glucose levels that are above normal but below the defined threshold of diabetes. Without proper int Continue reading >>

Raw Food Does Not Cure Diabetes

Raw Food Does Not Cure Diabetes

The month of November, Diabetes Awareness Month, brings out tons of information on diabetes management. Pharmacies open their doors to testing people for diabetes and communities around the world show solidarity for the cause. This is all for the good, right? As with any good and worthy cause, there are a few individuals who also take advantage and promote inaccurate information about diabetes. What wrinkles my nose is the concept that nature has a cure for diabetes. Why is this a myth? Let me explain. First, which diabetes are they talking about that has a natural cure? Type 1 diabetes does not have a cure, nor a natural cure! Type 1 is an autoimmune disease, which attacks the insulin forming cells, called beta cells, leaving as little as 10% of the total amount needed to keep the body alive. The only way to treat type 1 is injected insulin; you can’t eat better, take supplements, or drink medicinal teas to “reverse” it. The digestive system of someone with type 1 can take a pounding from the nature of the disease, so eating well, taking antioxidants and adding acupuncture can help tremendously, in beefing up the weakened immune system and aid in better digestion. Additionally, cutting down carbohydrates helps to manage blood sugar levels and because of the way type 1 diabetes affects the metabolism, lower carb intake also helps the stomach and small intestine digest food and absorb nutrients better. For type 2 diabetes natural is better, because learning to eat well and living a healthier life will decrease the risk for complications. But type 2 diabetes has a definition problem. For years, type 2 was categorized as a form of metabolic syndrome, primarily insulin resistance. But in recent years, type 2 is being studied to determine if it really belongs in the au Continue reading >>

These People Reversed Their Diabetes In 30 Days With This One Change

These People Reversed Their Diabetes In 30 Days With This One Change

Diabetes is one of the most rampant diseases of our time. According to the American Diabetes Association, in 2012, 29.1 million Americans, or 9.3% of the population, had diabetes. In fact, diabetes is growing at an exponential rate. A study completed by the CDC and Research Triangle Institute concluded that if “recent trends in diabetes prevalence rates continue linearly over the next 50 years, future changes in the size and demographic characteristics of the U.S. population will lead to dramatic increases in the number of Americans with diagnosed diabetes.” According to the current mainstream approach, the major goal in treating diabetes is to minimize any elevation of blood sugar (glucose) without causing abnormally low levels of blood sugar as well. Type 1 diabetes is treated with insulin, exercise, and a diabetic diet, while type 2 diabetes is treated first with weight reduction, a diabetic diet, and exercise. According to the American Diabetes Association and mainstream medicine in general, “Diabetes is a chronic disease that has no cure.” But what if we could not only prevent diabetes before it happened, but also reverse it once it shows up? Six Test Subjects Reverse Diabetes in 30 Days In the film Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days, six test subjects, all of whom were diabetic and taking insulin but had varying lifestyles and conditions, embark on a radical new treatment method. Five had type 2 diabetes and one had type 1. Before we get into the results of this film, let’s take note of what is established about type 1 and type 2 diabetes. This information is from The National Diabetes Education Program: Type 1 diabetes – The body does not make insulin. Insulin helps the body use glucose from food for energy. People with type 1 need to take insu Continue reading >>

30 Days To Eliminate Diabetes No Matter How Long You’ve Had It

30 Days To Eliminate Diabetes No Matter How Long You’ve Had It

Good day! Another dose of truth is what I have for you: the diabetes diet. If you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, there is a simple and easy fix to cure (not treat) your “disease”. If you are pre-diabetic, your condition can go away in 3 days. If you have full-blown diabetes mellitus (type 1 or 2), your condition can be reversed in 7 days. If you are in the final degenerative stages of diabetes, this same regiment will take about 2 weeks to a month until you are fully and completely cured (not treated). Now, don’t come back to blame me if you don’t follow all the steps. I’m NOT a doctor, and am not giving you medical advice, but the sh*t works! I only provide information I’ve done extensive research on, talked to real-life case studies, or things I’ve tried on myself. Cleanse your colon FIRST! There are a couple of healthy methods you can use to cleanse the colon. The colon is vital to our blood levels. This may also be responsible for a 5 to 10 pound weight loss…maybe more. Method #1: Saline wash. WARNING: THIS MUST BE DONE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH! Prepare 1 liter of very warm water. With purified water, heat on the stove just until bubbles start to appear…THAT’S ENOUGH. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of uniodized sea salt (sold at Walmart). Stir the mixture until the salt is completely dissolved, then drink whole. EFFECT: Immediate. Don’t leave the house for a couple hours, you’ll make a “mess” in public! WARNING: Drinking this solution in sections will not cleanse your colon. You must drink the entire salty mixture all at once! This step is NOT completely necessary, but it get’s your liver jump started without all the “gunk” in the way.] Method #2: Use natural roughage to pull “gunk” out of your system. This will remove the bits of heavy tra Continue reading >>

The 30-day Diabetes Cure Structure:

The 30-day Diabetes Cure Structure:

As a follow up to my recent blog post titled “The 30 Day Diabetes Cure Review” I wanted to give some extra insight into what can you expect from this book and from this diet/plan. Therefore, I asked someone in the sales team of this book if I could use some of the information revealed in the book in my blog. They agreed, so here you have and overview of what to expect from Dr. Ripich and Jim Healthy’s diabetes cure plan (I wrote it literally as it appears in the book.) I hope this encourages you, as it did with me, to give it a try. PHASE ONE: Blood Sugar “Boot Camp” “This is the strictest stage of the plan. During the first 10 days, you‘re going to go “cold turkey” off all the diabetes-causing foods, beverages, and bad habits that have been making you sick and threatening your life. For the next 10 days you won’t be consuming any sodas, sugary beverages, fruit juice, candy, or refined carbohydrates (including breakfast cereals, chips, cookies, ice cream, and energy bars). You’ll also abstain from bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, whole grains, and baked goods. No beer, wine, or alcohol of any kind. You won’t even eat any fruit. And you’ll eat no restaurant meals of any kind. Before you freak out, know that you will be eating three regular meals a day, plus two healthy snacks (whether you feel like having them or not!). I want to reassure you that you’ll never feel hungry during this initial period — or ever on The 30-Day Diabetes Cure. You’ll be enjoying a satisfying variety of delicious and filling foods; from meat, fish, and poultry to dairy, eggs, veggies, and cheese. Plus, your withdrawal from the diabetes-causing foods will be gradual over the next 10 days and you’ll be able to reintroduce many foods (though not all of them) in Phase Continue reading >>

30-day Diabetes Cure

30-day Diabetes Cure

You may even be able to throw away your meds! In the US, a new case of diabetes is diagnosed every 30 seconds. And many of those people will be given drugs to treat the disease. You can control high blood sugar with medications, but they aren’t a cure and they can have side effects. They also are expensive, costing $400 or more a month for many patients. Much better: Dietary remedies that have been proven to reduce blood sugar, improve the effects of insulin (a hormone produced by the pancreas that controls blood sugar), promote weight loss and, in many cases, eliminate the need for medications. A UCLA study found that 50% of patients with type 2 diabetes (the most common form) were able to reverse it in three weeks with dietary changes and exercise. How you can do it, too… Eliminate all HFCS. A 2010 Princeton study found that rats given water sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) gained more weight than rats that drank water sweetened with plain sugar, even though their calorie intake was exactly the same. Reasons: The calories from HFCS fail to trigger leptin, the hormone that tells your body when to quit eating. Also, HFCS is more likely than natural sugar to be converted to fat… and being overweight is the main risk factor for diabetes. What to do: Read food labels carefully. HFCS is the main sweetener in soft drinks and many processed foods, including baked goods such as cookies and cakes. Don’t drink diet soda. If you give up HFCS-laden soft drinks, don’t switch to diet soda. Diet sodas actually cause weight gain by boosting insulin production, leading to excessively high insulin in your blood that triggers greater fat accumulation and even more cravings for sugar.A study published in Diabetes Care found that drinking diet soda every day increase Continue reading >>

I Reversed My Diabetes In Just 11 Days - By Going On A Starvation Diet

I Reversed My Diabetes In Just 11 Days - By Going On A Starvation Diet

A family bereavement, high blood pressure, an unavoidable job change. I thought everything came in threes — but I was wrong. There was more bad news around the corner. I was a fit 59-year-old and had just had an annual health check at my GP surgery. This revealed I had high blood sugar — 9millimoles per litre, whereas a normal level is 4-6mmol/l — and my doctor suggested I could have diabetes. Further tests confirmed that, yes, I was type 2 diabetic. I was stunned. I have always been a healthy weight (I am 5ft 7in and just 10st 7lb), had no family history of diabetes, ate a healthy diet, never smoked, and I definitely did not have a sweet tooth. Determined to find a solution, I began researching the condition and how to beat it. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to keep glucose levels normal (in type 1, the pancreas stops producing insulin altogether), and if I didn’t take action, I would be 36 per cent more likely to die early and could suffer bad sight, poor kidneys, heart failure and strokes. I’d also eventually be on medication. My GP said that my diabetes was mild enough to be controlled through diet alone, and gave me a wad of leaflets on nutrition for diabetics. I took up salads, cut down on carbohydrates and ate my five-a-day — but progress was slow. Over seven months I shed a stone but my blood sugar was still too high — around 7mmol/l. Not satisfied with this, further internet research threw up a more drastic approach. Scientists at Newcastle University had devised a radical low-calorie diet that studies suggested could reverse diabetes in under eight weeks. This involved eating just 800 calories a day (a man’s recommended intake is 2,500) — 600 calories from meal replacement shakes and soups and 200 calories fr Continue reading >>

How To Reverse Type 2 Diabetes – The Quick Start Guide

How To Reverse Type 2 Diabetes – The Quick Start Guide

It’s possible to simply reverse type 2 diabetes. There are only two things you need to do. By reading this brief post you’ll know what they are, and how to get started. Or skip ahead to the two steps right away > Quick start Twenty years ago, when you bought a brand sparkly new VCR machine, you would also get a thick instruction manual. Read this thoroughly before you start, the manufacturer would implore. There would be detailed setup procedures and troubleshooting guides. Most of us ignored the manual, just plugged it in and tried to figure out the rest. That’s why we all had the blinking 12:00 on. Today, most new electronics now come with a quick start guide which has the most basic 4 or 5 steps to get your machine working and then anything else you needed, you could reference the detailed instruction manual. Instruction manuals are just so much more useful this way. Well, I don’t know much about VCRs, but I do know about type 2 diabetes. I can write an entire book about obesity (oh, wait, I did that already), or fasting (oh, wait, coming up) or type 2 diabetes (next up for 2018). But many of you will not want to go through the entire instruction manual. So this is the quick start guide for reversing your type 2 diabetes. A fully reversible disease Most doctors, dietitians and diabetes specialists claim that type 2 diabetes is a chronic and progressive disease. The American Diabetes Association, for example, almost proudly proclaims this on its website. Once you get the diagnosis, it’s a life sentence. But, it’s actually a great big lie. Type 2 diabetes is almost always reversible and this is almost ridiculously easy to prove. This is great news for the more than 50% of American adults who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes. Recognizing thi Continue reading >>

Type 2 Diabetes And The Diet That Cured Me

Type 2 Diabetes And The Diet That Cured Me

Why me? At 59 I was 10st 7lb, 5ft 7in, and had never been overweight. I ran and played cricket regularly and didn't drink alcohol excessively. Yet at a routine check-up I was told that I had type 2 diabetes. In 10 years I could be dependent on insulin, it could affect my sight, feet, ears, heart and I had a 36% greater chance of dying early. In type 1 diabetes, the body produces none of the insulin that regulates our blood sugar levels. Very high glucose levels can damage the body's organs. Patients with type 2 diabetes, however, do produce insulin - just not enough to keep their glucose levels normal. Because I was fit and not overweight (obesity is a major risk factor in type 2 diabetes; however, a number of non-obese people, particularly members of south Asian communities, are also prone to it), my doctor told me I could control my condition with diet alone. Desperate for information, I headed to the web, where I found a report about a research trial at Newcastle University led by Professor Roy Taylor. His research suggested type 2 diabetes could be reversed by following a daily 800-calorie diet for eight weeks. When our bodies are deprived of normal amounts of food they consume their own fat reserves, with the fat inside organs used up first. The idea of Taylor's diet is to use up the fat that is clogging up the pancreas and preventing it from creating insulin, until normal glucose levels return. With my GP's blessing and a home glucose-testing kit, I began my experiment. The diet was strict: three litres of water a day, three 200-calorie food supplements (soups and shakes) and 200 calories of green vegetables. Thanks to my doctor's dietary guidance, and running three times a week, I had already lost a stone. Yet my glucose levels were still above 6mmol/L (millimols Continue reading >>

Reversing Type 2 Diabetes

Reversing Type 2 Diabetes

Tweet Reversing diabetes is a term that usually refers to a significant long-term improvement in insulin sensitivity in people with type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes that are able to get their HbA1c below 42 mmol/mol (6%) without taking diabetes medication are said to have reversed or resolved their diabetes. This also known as putting diabetes into remission. Loss of body weight can be particularly beneficial in helping to reverse the progression of diabetes. With time and dedication, type 2 diabetes can be reversed and the results can be very rewarding, with less tiredness and better all-round health. If you think you need to come off your diabetes medication, ensure you speak to your healthcare team before doing so. Understanding how diabetes progresses The most common cause of type 2 diabetes is obesity-related, which generally follows a vicious cycle pattern: Diet high in calories -particularly if high in refined carbohydrates. Insulin levels in the bloodstream rise to cope with the high- and quick-acting carb intake. Weight is gained around the belly (central or truncal obesity). Consistently high insulin levels lead to the body’s cells becoming resistant to insulin and commonly lead to weight gain. High insulin levels also increase weight gain. Insulin resistance leads to an increase in blood sugar levels, particularly after meals. The pancreas produces more insulin to cope with rising blood sugar levels. High sugar levels lead to feelings of lethargy and high insulin levels lead to increased hunger. Hunger often leads to overeating and lethargy, with less physical activity being taken. Overeating, less activity and high insulin levels all lead to further weight gain and more insulin resistance. Consistently high demand on the pancreas to produce ext Continue reading >>

Diabetes Can Be Reversed In 30 Days With One Simple Change

Diabetes Can Be Reversed In 30 Days With One Simple Change

Diabetes Can be Reversed In 30 Days With One Simple Change By Jenny Hills, Medical Writer and Researcher News Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 days is an American independent documentary film that features six people with diabetes who changed their diets in order to manage their diabetes better. As the title suggests, all the participants adopted a raw vegan diet, and stuck to it for a period of 30 days. The results were breathtaking and confirmed what Dr. Gabriel Cousens, a physician and raw food advocate, suggested earlier: diabetes can be cured in some cases. The documentary was founded by the Movement to Reverse Diabetes Naturally (RDN). There are 246 million people in the world with diabetes, and one person dies from this disease every ten seconds. We are seeing a world epidemic, and according to the Western medicine, there is no cure for it. Diabetes is a metabolic disease. It affects the cells sugar supply through impaired insulin production. In type 1 diabetes, the bodys immune system destroys insulin-producing cells. Type 2 is the more common type of the disease, where insulin does get produced, but there is not enough of it or the body cannot use it well enough. When there isnt enough insulin in the blood, sugar (glucose) starts building up in the blood and doesnt reach the cells, so they cant function normally. Dr. Cousens developed a new approach for treating diabetes at his Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, a retreat center based in Arizona. The method combines a radical change of diet and a strict exercise regime. Its a 3 week detox program under supervision. Dr. Cousens who claims that his approach helps 53% of people with type 2 diabetes get off all medication, and cures them. In type 1 diabetes, the success rate is 30%. He explains that essentially Continue reading >>
