Diabetes Management Software/meter Software

Diabetes Management Software/meter Software

diabetes management software/meter software Member Type 1 since March 2011, Lantus and NovoRapid diabetes management software/meter software I have an Abbott Freestyle Lite blood glucose meter but I don't like the software that it comes with. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I could use instead? I don't want anything where I would have to enter all my readings manually. I used to have an Accu-Chek meter and I loved the software that it came with, so something similar to that would be ideal. It also has to be in mmol/l as I live in the UK. I don't want to change meters because I don't like the Abbott software. I had a look at Mendosa's website any suggestions as to which one is best. D.D. Family Getting much harder to control D.D. Family Type 1 since 2012; wife of Type 1 since 1996 But I love that the Freestyle lite doesn't waste a strip if you don't have enough blood. That is my favorite thing about it. Member Ambiguous Type; MDD Levemir and Humalog I use the Bayer Contour USB meter. It comes with software built into the meter and the meter itself has a USB connection, so it can plug into any computer. Member T1 since 1987. Former MDI, now Minimed Pumper Are you a pumper? Start Excel, then open the CSV file. It now comes into Excel as a spreadsheet. If you know Excel, you can make charts and everything. A log sheet is an alternative or adjunct to software. There are a lot of different log sheets out there, but the best, in my opinion, is one developed by Jean-Franois Yale, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, Crabtree Nutrition Laboratories, McGill Nutrition and Food Science Centre, Royal Victoria Hospital, and Director, Metabolic Day Centre. I met with him in Montreal in August 2002, and at that time he authorized me to make his log sheet available on my Web site. Dr. Yale's log sheet lets you enter blood glucose readings, insulin dosages, carbohydrate grams, and exercise (which you can put on a scale of 1 to 5) for any hour of the day. Before printing the log sheets remember to change the page layout to landscape and when you are finished to change it back to the usual portrait layout. Two pages of the log sheet cover the seven days of the week. It is an Adobe Acrobat PDF file, which requires the free Acrobat Reader, available at , if you don't have it already. Connected: Diabetes Data Management Made Easy

New software solutions that communicate between differing brands of meters, monitors, and pumps make downloading a patient’s glucose data less time consuming for both physician and patient. Imagine the following: you are caring from someone with a chronic, 24/7 disease where patients are asked to self-administer a potentially deadly drug every day, and you are only given twenty minutes with your patient a few times a year. Oh, that’s right — you don’t have to imagine it. It’s type 1 diabetes. The Problem A physician can only do so much for someone with type 1 diabetes in a short office visit. David Ahn, MD, a clinical instructor of endocrinology at UCLA, knows this burden well. “In my endocrinology practice, type 1 diabetes easily represents my biggest time management challenge,” he says. “Unfortunately, it’s almost a given that these visits will either run over time or end with some topics left unaddressed.” Ahn’s words capture the whirlwind of challenges confronting endocrinologists seeing patients with diabetes. For one, the patient population is growing quickly; the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has predicted that by 2035, the number of people with diabetes will near 600 million, a roughly 50% increase relative to its 2014 estimate of 400 million. Meanwhile, there is a shortage of endocrinologists. According to studies from the 2014 Center for Disease Control National Diabetes Statistic Report and The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, there is one endocrinologist for every 4,117 diabetes patients in the U.S. The cost of care has also become a huge problem for patients and the healthcare system; according to the IDF, diabetes expenditures in the U.S. reached $612 billion in 2014. In short, endocrinologists have less time Continue reading >>

What Software/tools Are Everyone Using ?

What Software/tools Are Everyone Using ?

Thanks for that detailed list and description of the software you are using. I am looking for new software to use myself. I was using a web-based application that Roche Diagnostics was operating and that uploaded BG readings from my Accu-chek meter and spat out various stats, graphs etc. which could be also emailed to my diabetes team. It wasn't bad (aside from not residing on my local machine) but they (Roche) have discontinued the service so I'm a bit high-and-dry. I'm looking for an app that might run on Windows Mobile (I have a HTC Tytn II) that I could, say, connect my meter via USB and download BS readings, diarize medication and meal info, and maybe utilise the built-in GPS to track exercise (I already do this to some degree with my cycling using Garmin software .gpx files and the Trailguru website - www.trailguru.com - which provides some cool reports, graphs, calories burned etc. etc.) Please, developers, would love to see something that could integrate these things into one application! I know there are some iPhone apps being developed that look pretty interesting so maybe I will quit resisting and go over to iPhone if better apps are developed for it first - as I suspect there probably will ... There are some interesting threads about it on this Geeks With Diabetes forum Meantime, I've still got to find some new software to at least run on my PC and that will upload data from an Accu-chek Advantage meter ... I started using the onetouch ultrasmart recently and I really like the functionality. However I don't want to buy the apparantly sub-standard PC software/cable that it would require to import data. So I though I would do my tracking on a smartphone. I just ordered an android based phone, so that I could develop my own diabetes management program. Since I Continue reading >>
