Diabetes Kids Full Of Life

Diabetes Kids Full Of Life

"We worked out that he was drinking anywhere from 4.5 to 5 litres a day, Zach's dad Chris Gordon said. "That's one of the symptoms that they use a lot of water to try and flush all the excess glucose out of their system, and they lose a lot of weight. A trip to the doctor's followed and after which Zach was diagnosed and sent to the emergency ward. There is no cure for Type 1, and it is fatal if not treated. It's cause also remains a mystery. Life has changed for young Zach since - but he's taken it all in his stride. He's learned to inject himself with insulin into his belly at breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as test his blood glucose levels countless times a day and watch what he eats. "I get to eat in class and bring my phone to school, Zach said. Zach was among 65 other children and their families on Saturday taking on the waves in Byron Bay as part of a special dedicated to kids with Type 1 diabetes. The message of the "Diabuddies day was diabetes kids can still live a very active life. That can be easy to forget sometimes because of the "relentless nature of diabetes management, according to Cheryl Nankivell, diabetes educator from Diabetes NSW & ACT. Ms Nankivell said activities such as insulin injections, regular blood glucose monitoring, diet management and assessing the impact of physical activity are "non-negotiable, 24-7, 365 days a year. "Every meal, every bed time, every time you go out to do something there is going to be actions and planning just to manage blood glucose levels and the risk of going low or high, she said. It can be stressful for parents - which is why a day at the beach with other diabetes families was so important. "The message that we want to strongly send is that if you're living with Type 1 diabetes it doesn't limit you from doin Continue reading >>

Diabetes Nsw & Act - Public Site

Diabetes Nsw & Act - Public Site

Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia. There are almost 2,500 young people aged 15 and under with type 1 diabetes in NSW and the ACT, with the number of children with this life-threatening condition continuing to grow each year. As parents of children with type 1 diabetes struggle to balance life commitments with regular demands associated with managing their child's condition, they often call upon an informal carer, such as a relative, friend or babysitter, to care for their child in their absence. The erratic and unpredictable nature of type 1 diabetes can be unfamiliar to these carers who may have little to no knowledge in the area, presenting an opportunity to upskill a community of care around children with diabetes. As the rate of diabetes continues to grow, so does the importance of equipping carers with the relevant training and knowledge to be able to appropriately care for a person with diabetes. Diabetes NSW & ACT is the largest diabetes support organisation in Australia, running in excess of 800 education and community events each year. Established in 1938, their mission is to achieve a life without the complications of diabetes. Diabetes NSW & ACT will deliver five Carer Training Workshops specifically designed for informal carers of children with type 1 diabetes. Professional carers are also encouraged to attend. The workshops will facilitate access to reliable, current and targeted health information and education for carers of children with type 1 diabetes. Workshops will be run by a Credentialed Diabetes Educator, an Accredited Practicing Dietitian, and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. The course will also provide short consultations with individual attendees to provide personalised advice on the needs of individual childre Continue reading >>

Event In Focus: Diabetes Nsw Gala Dinner

Event In Focus: Diabetes Nsw Gala Dinner

The Diabetes NSW & ACT Cirque Gala took place earlier this year at our Jones Bay Wharf venue on Sydney Harbour, with 450 guests in attendance including new and long-standing corporate partners and supporters. More than $200,000 was raised for the Diabetes Kids Fun on the night, which will be put towards the ongoing support of children, teens and young adults living with type 1 diabetes, their families and carers. Following a vintage circus theme, guests were greeted with a feast for the senses, with suspended aerialists pouring guests champagne, tarot readers, magicians and an impressive aerial circus performance and fire show. Adding to the exciting line up of entertainment, Side Show Alley was set up on the outdoor harbour view deck sporting famous carnival games for guests to enjoy including laughing clowns, ring toss and high striker. Guests enjoyed a beautiful three-course dinner menu, which included our famous braised beef cheek and mango and coconut savarin. The goal was to create an interactive event experience that went beyond the expectations of a traditional fundraising gala. Bringing the concept to life was custom lighting from Microhire and theming and props provided by House of Doltone and the Sydney Prop Specialists and entertainment from Planet Entertainment . Heres a taste of what was an amazing fundraising event! Continue reading >>

Diabetes Nsw Event Promo Video

Diabetes NSW Event Promo Video MissingCloud 2016-07-19T23:38:14+00:00 Creation time: 1 week | Client: Filtered Media Pty Ltd We were asked by Filtered Media to develop a motion graphics piece for an event of Diabetes NSW. The script, visual concept suggestions and voice over Filtered Media prepared were excellent (as usual), as well as the brief. There were existing print materials (consisting of event logo, colors) to base the the look & feel of the animated piece. Our task was to create the infographics/layouts in the video, then to animate them (and their transitions), and finally assemble the assets (VO, music, etc) into a ready-to-use video. We also post-produced the voice over track. The deadline was very short (a few workdays basically), so there wasnt much room for experimenting. Luckily we captured the desired layouts/movements early on, so the delivery was on-time. Also check out this awareness-raising infographics video we made for Diabetes NSW also assigned to us by Filtered Media. If you also think that your potential customers and your business deserve at least one great online video or animation, lets talk and lets find the right style, messages and other parameters for your needs.
