Portion distortion, being connoisseurs of M&S heat and arrange meals, too many beers and habitual treats and snacks had played havoc with our waistlines. Hello again. After losing around two and half stone in eight weeks before the summer I took a couple of months off. Mainly low carbed, walked a lot but more calories. Surprisingly I've only put a couple of pounds back on, I thought it would be lots more. I want to lose another couple of stone so I'm starting again today, 800 calories a day with photos of food, logging on MFP etc. Today I had Greek yogurt with cherries, apple, and chopped nuts for breakfast. Salad for lunch with some extra pumpkin seeds. Dinner was sweet chilli chicken with cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower with cheese, a bit of sweet potato, a tiny bit of cous cous and red cabbage. Bit carby but not terribly so. well done getting back into it with such yum food! Thank you Poppycat! I hope I can stick to it again. I've managed to stay off bread over the summer but can't say the same for chocolate. Today, usual breakfast (I have the same every day). Lunch I had four turkey bacon slices with watercress and houmous. I had a friend here for tea who is weight lifting and always hungry, I love feeding her. I roasted chicken breasts with deep slashes in them, with sweet potato (again), mushroom, cauliflower, homemade coleslaw and salad. For the last ten minutes I poured a sauce made of peanut butter, soy sauce and chilli over the chicken and it browned nicely. I've been eating pumpkin seeds too. Ive got whiplash flying though the book full of do-able and enthusiasm, then Bam no grocery/pantry list. So surprised the important aspect of simply aiding folks with an time saving overview of ingredients is overlooked! The message in the book to keep active and not sit for long periods. Its a huge job for folks to arrange a shopping list around a weeks menu plan and overlapping ingredients.Lots of sitting & page turning or standing and page turning! Even a simple item pantry list would have been helpful. A Fast Pantry must have list or key ingredient Fast Grocery list, print or App form, it would be greatly appreciated 5:2 Fast Diet would be pretty easy to put together as its nothing really that you dont all ready have likely. More broth for soups and veggies to go in them more fresh foods less (or no) pasta and grains. No sugar. The 8 Week Blood Sugar now that would be an entirely different kettle of fish. I'm so happy I saw this book and even happier I decided to start on ihe plan straight away, rather than waiting for 1st January. My DN is very happy with my results, and I'm now seeing her monthly so she can monitor both my progress and BP in case my BP mess need to be reduced. You have decided to go for it. You have talked to your doctor, cleared your cupboards, and had some tests done. As you will soon discover, the Blood Sugar Diet isn’t quite as tough as you may fear. Yes, you are going to be living on 800 calories a day for the next few weeks, but your body should adapt reasonably quickly. Below are guidelines of what to expect at certain check points during the diet. The First 2 Weeks Once you’ve started, you will find that you begin to lose weight fast. Some of it will be fat, but initially you will also be passing a lot of urine. It is essential that you drink at least two to three quarts of calorie-free fluid a day or you will become constipated and get headaches. What you drink is up to you, as long as it doesn’t contain calories. It could be ordinary tap water. If you are not thrilled with plain water, try disguising it by adding a squeeze of lemon or lime, or fresh mint and cucumber. I love seltzer with lots of ice and lemon, fruit-flavored tea, and the occasional coffee (with only a splash of milk). Some people like drinking hot water; oddly enough, there is evidence that heat alone can soothe hunger. Drink zero-calorie sodas if you must. But avoid fruit juice and smoothies. The first two weeks are likely to be the toughest, as your body adapts to fewer calories, but this should in turn lead to some dramatic changes. The 4-Week Review The next key moment in your dieting odyssey will be the four-week review. By now you will be halfway through the diet, and hopefully things are going well. Essentially, it's a very low calorie diet (VLCD) , with one huge difference: it uses real food. On most VLCD systems, you replace some or all of your meals with diet shakes or bars, which have one big drawback: they don't help you learn new eating habits. Once the diet is over, you go back to cooking the same old meals, with ingredients and/or portion sizes that are unhealthy, so you'll put the weight right back on. The Blood Sugar Diet is not only much tastier (because food always tastes better than synthetic shakes!), it also teaches you about healthy eating, so you'll know how to maintain your weight once you've reached your goal.
