Glucose Buddy Inks App Deal With Roche

Glucose Buddy Inks App Deal With Roche

MYLEstone Health, developer of the Glucose Buddy iPhone app, is working with Roche Diagnostics' Accu-Chek to add its educational program to the Glucose Buddy diabetes management app. Even though the addition of Accu-Chek's educational program to the iPhone app is a far cry from meter integration, MYLEstone co-founder Matthew Tendler told mobihealthnews, it is a step in the right direction and it will bring substantial value to people with diabetes and iPhones. In early March one of the other big four meter makers was interested in working with us, but given Glucose Buddy's availability exclusively on the iPhone, the company saw a limited opportunity, Tendler said. A few weeks later Apple invited LifeScan on-stage at an iPhone event to demonstrated a Bluetooth-enabled blood glucose monitor . Tendler said that the next morning everyone held meetings to discuss how they could break into the iPhone. Roche, who could be considered a competitor of LifeScan's, believes that it is time to get their name out there and begin offering diabetics something on the iPhone now, and work toward meter integration in the future, Tendler said. "That's really where [Glucose Buddy is] at right now," Tendler said. "That's how we feel we can best make a difference. We're not talking a huge game and promising to convince doctors to change the way they have worked for fifty years. We aren't going to promise diabetics that we are going to convince them to start checking their blood sugar if they never had before." With the additional education program from Roche, Glucose Buddy allows diabetics to set up a management plan with doctors and other caregivers, Tendler said. It's not just a reference guide or a bunch of articles on the subject, it's a plan for getting patients and doctors to work toge Continue reading >>

Mynetdiary Vs. Glucose Buddy

Mynetdiary Vs. Glucose Buddy

We are proud of the diet service we created at MyNetDiary, especially its diabetes functionality. We have worked to build the best tools and program in the world so people can succeed with their health goals, and we are very passionate about creating awesome software. With this in mind, we wanted to put up a comparison against some of the competing diabetes apps on the market and highlight where we think MyNetDiary is truly better. Here we compare MyNetDiary Pro vs. Glucose Buddy Pro – one of the most popular iPhone diabetes apps. One important consideration is that MyNetDiary has worked exclusively and professionally in the area of diet, weight loss, and diabetes since 2005, providing comprehensive online and mobile services and apps, while Azumio Inc (the maker of Glucose Buddy) is a younger company, working in many areas of health and wellness. Most importantly, MyNetDiary keeps working on the diabetes app and keeps improving it following user feedback and the latest technology developments. Glucose Buddy is no longer seems to be updated or maintained, as the last update was in October, 2012. Comparing Features and Benefits MyNetDiary's focus on diet and diabetes enabled us to create very comprehensive, professional, and yet easy to use apps, providing one-stop-solution to diabetes tracking. Glucose Buddy does not even have any built-in food and exercise database, making accurate carb tracking very difficult and time consuming. Glucose Buddy does not provide any support for weight management or weight loss - it has no diet planning tools, no food database, no exercise database. With Glucose Buddy, you cannot get the whole picture of your diabetes and learn about relationships between blood glucose readings and carbs, insulin, medications, time, and exercise. Review: Glucose Buddy (ios App)

Review: Glucose Buddy (ios App)

App Name: Glucose Buddy Version: 3.7.0 Developer: Azumio Date Updated: October 12, 2012 Cost: Free; up to $13.99 for additional features Overall Score/Value: D+ A part of the ongoing review of diabetic glucose applications for iOS/iPhone. Executive Summary Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. An all-around painful experience with useless charting capabilities, whose only saving grace is the tight integration with a more-capable (but still limited) companion website. Data Entry/Edit: 4/10 Individual data entry points for every single thing made using this app a chore. Coupled with the need to remember the appropriate sequence or risk resetting the entry to square one. Charting/Graphing: 2/10 A rigid, pointless single chart will tell you the plot points for the high, low, and average of the day. Impossible to determine trends, patterns, as well as difficult to read in the first place. External Integration Import/Export Data: Website only, CSV exporting only. Backup/Restore/Migrate/Cloud: A sync button on the home page provides for upload to website. Desktop Integration: None. Web Integration: Website is far more useful for accessing data, viewing charts (still limited), and good community forums. Email: You can email log entries to any recipient as an embedded table in the body of the email. Printing: None. Extras: Reminders: None. (see below) Insulin Correction Calculation: None. Nutrition Counter/Calculator: None. (see below) Full Review: I went back and forth on Glucose Buddy between a C- and a D+, changing the score several times. The app simply is terrible, and I found myself dreading using it especially later in the day, where you have to create an individual entry for each and every thing you do (take blood sugar, take medication, take more medication, etc.). The experience is miti Continue reading >>

Iphone Diabetes Apps Reviews: Diabetes Kit Vs. Glucose Buddy

Iphone Diabetes Apps Reviews: Diabetes Kit Vs. Glucose Buddy

Here are my thoughts after using two diabetes blood glucose management apps on my iPhone 6s called Diabetes Kit and Glucose Buddy. These iPhone diabetes apps reviews are simply my experiences after using them for a few weeks. Do you need a diabetes app at all? I got by for decades with Type 1 diabetes and without any diabetes-related apps at all (consarn it!). The only reason I finally downloaded one recently was that I though it would be nice to see trends and history for my BGs. I use a OneTouch UltraMini that I bought in 2007 (can that be right?? It still works after all this time?) which remembers the most recent 50 numbers, but doesn’t sync with anything and has no export feature. I used to copy my BGs into a cool Excel sheet but that took too much time, and in this world if it takes too much time it isn’t going to last as a regular habit. So, as usual, my needs were very simple: all I needed from a iPhone diabetes app was a way to record my numbers and see trends. In this corner: Diabetes Kit First I downloaded Diabetes Kit. After using this app for several weeks, here are my findings: Diabetes Kit good points Very nice design, with good colors, fonts, and layout. Quick way to input a new BG: two taps on buttons and a keypad is displayed. It defaults to the current time but you can add past BGs by changing the date. You can also add a note for a reading, though I never have. (What would it say? “Two and a half doughnuts, no surprise here” or something I guess.) You get a few graphs to see your BG trends and averages, including a pie chart showing what percentage of your readings have been high, normal, or low (you tell it what you consider these to be). There are also charts for daily average, a day-of-the-week average, and an hour-of-the-day average. Thes Continue reading >>

Glucose Buddy Iphone App And Website Review - Page 1

Posted: April, 2012 Overview Glucose Buddy is a popular iPhone App for logging information relating to the management of diabetes. This review is on version 3.6.5 last updated on May 7, 2011. It was tested on an iPhone 4S using iOS 5.1. The application has a 4+ rating in the iTunes store with consumer reviews mostly positive. The majority of the lower ratings are due to the integration with the CalorieTrack food logging app which is, at this time, awful. The positive reviews focus on the ability to log glucose readings and e-mail or print logs and graphs and the benefit it brings them. While the logs are easy to e-mail and print, there are serious cross browser compatibility problems with graphs and the graphs are limited in detail compared to similar applications. I also found parts of the app that simple don’t work. The application has many features not found on other similar application. You can access and participate in the online forum from within the app. I feel community support is important in effective diabetes management and this app does a great job at letting forum user keep in touch without the need of a computer. The app features an alarm module which can be triggered from events within the app such as a timer that starts after all after breakfast events. Being consistent with post meal glucose readings is hard sometimes if you forget to start a timer. This app will start the timer based on your configurations. A nice feature that I found very useful. The app is free for an ad supported version and upgrades are available to remove the ads and add increased functionality. GUI The home page of the application is well laid out and easy to understand. Under the My Info section you can set date of birth, gender, type of diabetes, height, weight, your e-mail a Continue reading >>

Glucose Buddy App

An app aimed at people with diabetes (type 1 and type 2) wanting to record and track their blood glucose levels. Glucose Buddy Basic features Rating No in-app advertising Requires internet to function Data can be exported Social networking options Support - online community What does the app do? The Glucose Buddy app allows users to manually enter their blood glucose readings together with notes about food intake. In addition users can enter their carbohydrate consumption, insulin dosages, and activities. Using the graph function users can track their blood glucose levels over a selected period. For the complete app description, go to either Google Play (android) or iTunes (apple) PROS ✔ CONS ✘ The glucose buddy person diagram in which different areas of the body are measured and a chart can be created to measure changes is engaging and motivational. It is easy to view trends since the time frame for the graphs are flexible showing 7 days, 14 days or a month Personalising the settings is very challenging such as changing weight from pounds to kilograms. Grey font on dark screen background can make reading text and figures difficult. The food and activity recording option is tedious and laborious. Has option to record medications but this function is also confusing. Only provision to record carbohydrates and not other nutritional entities such as fats, salts and fibre. Diabetes Forum The Global Diabetes Community Find support, ask questions and share your experiences. Join the community Any one else tryed thia app ? I have started using it and it seemes quite good especially as I can input previous test results and add notes to every reading . It also seems more aimed at all diabetes types as apposed to most apps thatt then to be aimed at insulin using diabetics. Being type 2 on oral meds it is great for what I want . But if you think that another app may be better or worth a try pls let me know what it is and why it would be better or even what extra uses it has . Ps bought carbs and cals app . It was realy poor and I wish I had not total wast of money I use it, but it does have some deficiencies, such as no calculation of averages over time - I use it because it is part of a suite of apps from the same supplier that does fitness buddy and they work together I also use the free app for the BGstar meter (even though i dont use their meter). Does calculate averages and gives a lot of statistical info such as averages by time of day, etc. Again still deficient as graphing is very poor. I used to use it and it's not too bad but I found it so time consuming in the end. Constantly logging in and updating readings an exercise etc. Then I would forget to log a few and spend even more time correcting things. Also, I never even used any of the data to be honest. It may suit some but I just deleted it after a while. It never made a difference to my diabetes management, it was simply recording numbers. Good luck though and hope you find it more useful. After all, it's free ! Would be more usefull if it gave 7, 14, 21, 30 60, 90 day averages instead of none. And also told numericly the pionts on graph. Oh and of course a way to import and export Continue reading >>

The Best App For Digital Diabetes Care – Glucose Buddy Vs. Mysugr

The Best App For Digital Diabetes Care – Glucose Buddy Vs. Mysugr

As a person who has had diabetes for 17 years, I am convinced that there is a way for people with this disease to live a happy and healthy life. However, we have to learn how to manage the disease in order to enjoy our time with family and friends. Supervision of diabetes might seem hard, but, luckily for us, we have advanced smartphone technologies at our disposal. There is plenty of different applications that help people with diabetes control the level of glucose in blood, set reminders for medication and doctor appointments or get information about healthy products. I will share my experience with two popular applications – Glucose Buddy and Mysugr – in this blog post. Glucose buddy I have always been searching for an application that is functional and does not require additional apps in order to be able to control diabetes. If you are searching for the same and you stumbled upon Glucose Buddy – you can keep searching further. This application certainly doesn’t live up to my expectations. The first thing that catches the eye immediately after opening the main page is the poor interface of the program. It seems as if the developers of the app did not put any effort into its layout and design. It just looks bleak and boring. But nevertheless, I decided to give it a chance to prove itself as an effective tool in dealing with diabetes. After I have tested it, my worst fears were justified: The application was not of any use to me. I have encountered so many complications while using it, that I was really happy to delete it after testing. The most significant drawback was the inconvenience of data entry. I had to create an individual log for every product that I ate, for any kind of activity that I did and for every medication that I took (which may sound easy, b Continue reading >>

Evaluation Of Glucose Buddy App As Diabetes Monitoring Tool For Patients And Clinicians

Evaluation Of Glucose Buddy App As Diabetes Monitoring Tool For Patients And Clinicians

Patient Centric App Review Series App Reviewed: Glucose Buddy 3.6.5 Goals of app review: To determine whether Glucose Buddy has the applicability to be utilized by diabetic patients for recording their glucose levels (eg. SMBG’s), meals, and medication usage. To evaluate the possible integration of Glucose Buddy into diabetes management for patients Introduction: Diabetes is a chronic disease that requires close management by healthcare professionals in conjunction with patients. One key step for managing diabetes is measuring patients self-monitored blood glucose (SMBG) levels at home. Currently only one app/device exists that can measure and record SMBGs. As such, most apps rely on patients entering the data into mobile applications manually. Glucose Buddy is a diabetes monitoring tool developed by Tom Xu, a graduate from University of California Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is responsible for overseeing all interface usability and technical aspects of Glucose Buddy’s development. Glucose Buddy is supported by SkyHealth LLC, which also supports other lifestyle modulation apps. These include Fitness Buddy and BP Buddy. App Specifics: Last Updated: May 7, 2011 Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch Requires: iOS 3.0 or later Reviewed on: iPhone 4G The app opens onto a simple user interface screen that displays several options. These include areas to add logs for SMBG, medications, diet, reminders, and user’s info. The ‘My Info’ option allows the user to input their personal information. Included are options to record what type of BP cuff they are using and what SMBG monitoring device (eg. Bayer Breeze). There is also a display for the total average blood glucose per total data recorded. Data can be input into the ‘ Continue reading >>
