Diabetes Management Software Released For Mac Os X

Diabetes management software released for Mac OS X FireLogic Inc. , a provider of software, services and expertise for the collection and visualization of complex data, has released HealthEngage disease management software system for Type I and II diabetics. The Mac OS X software provides a tool for diabetics to enter their health information from any desktop computer or Palm device. By creating a specially optimized version of its software for Mac OS X, the company hopes to ensure that Apple's concept of the "digital hub" will expand beyond entertainment and bring new meaning to the old saying "An Apple a day keeps the doctor away," according to FireLogic President Michael Slage. The latest edition of HealthEngage works with Mac OS X 10.2 ("Jaguar"). The company is working on a Bluetooth-enabled version in order to take advantage of Apple's Rendezvous and iSync technologies. A free trial version can be downloaded. Using the US$59.95 software, diabetics and their doctors are able to better manage their conditions and spot dangerous trends before they become life threatening, Slage said. Diabetics can collect, graph and produce reports about their condition for their doctor with one click of the mouse. Over 135 new features and enhancements have been added to the system. The nutrition section utilizes the USDA's official database of over 6,700 foods. The exercise section includes the National Sports Medicine Association's database of over 700 exercises and physical activities. Users can also set reminders for appointments, refills, etc., and can even enter their complete laboratory test results and medications. Virtual Diabetes Management

Virtual Diabetes Management

The amount of diabetes-related software has exploded in the past few years, fueled in part by the proliferation of applications for mobile phones. Nearly every insulin pump and blood glucose meter now comes with computer software that can organize data from the device, and there are lots of offerings from independent companies that work with several different glucose meters. At the same time, the rise of smartphones mobile phones with extensive software capabilities has opened up a new market for on-the-go diabetes management programs. Some software programs now offer extensive features, while others remain fairly basic. There are programs for graphing blood glucose trends, programs that let you share blood glucose readings with your health-care provider, virtual logbooks, meal-planning aids, restaurant locators, educational guides, and more. This article describes a range of programs for different devices and platforms, varying in their purposes and capabilities. For prices and contact information, see the table Software, Hardware, Where?. There are many Web-based programs that allow the user to directly upload data from a blood glucose meter using a cable connecting it to a computer. These programs provide different views of blood glucose data, such as logbook, report, and graph formats. Some of them have account settings that can be adjusted so that a health-care provider can log in and see the users information. This way, the provider can offer recommendations by e-mail or prepare ahead for the next office visit. Some of these Web-based programs also offer educational materials and useful tips. Telcare is a blood glucose meter that wirelessly transmits blood glucose readings in real time to the password-protected MyTelcare.com portal or to the MyTelcare iPhone app. Continue reading >>

Diabetic Software On A Mac

I was wondering if anyone knew of any diabetic software that would work on Mac OS X for a One Touch Ultra Smart? Any help would be appreciated D.D. Family T1 Since 2006, Omnipod Since 2007 Healthengage is the only one i am aware of. Never used it, but its multiplatform (windows, mac and linux) and supports several different meters. I installed it to take a look at it for you - seems like its reasonably engineered, but i ran out of time. I you want a hand looking at it, let me know. Its not free. You can evaluate it for 30 days then you have to pay for it. Food database and diet recommendations are useless, but that seems to be the case with most of them produced by non-diabetics. PM me if you need help. I bought an Apple Macbook back in the spring and I LOVE it! I have a PC desktop, though, which I use for my OneTouch Diabetes Management Software. I was really bummed when I read on LifeScan's site that their software wasn't compatible with Apple computers and they had no plans to develop an Apple version. I wonder if enough people were to contact LifeScan regarding their desire for an Apple version of their diabetes management software if it would help persuade them that there does need to be an Apple version? It's your data so you can export the data as a text file and import data from other diabetes sources, currently: Diabetes Logbook X export files, Logbook DM v3.3 for Palm (CSV export file), UTS Diabetes v1.3 (saved email file). Five types of reports are available and are based on the reports we have used with our Diabetes medical team for over 2 years: detailed list, summary lists for each day period, glucose logbook, plus graphs and notes. Supported languages are: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Diabetes Logbook X is freeware, but donations to Diabetes UK, are welcome as this will help my young son who has Type 1 diabetes. If you already donate to a diabetes charity, please don't double donate, unless you want too. Note: To migrate from the default English language to a localised version, to ensure that the assigned Period names are re-generated into the localised language, you must: export all exisiting events using the Export facility Barry Nass July 18, 2006 / Version: Diabetes Logbook X 1.0.0 beta 5 This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. Dexcom Readings On Mac/linux - Wohoo!

Dexcom Readings On Mac/linux - Wohoo!

Diabetes Forum The Global Diabetes Community Find support, ask questions and share your experiences. Join the community If any of you use Mac, you're probably terribly annoyed that dexcom studio software works only on Windows, so there's no simple way of downloading your data from Dexcom receiver. I don't know if anyone heard of it yet, but today I found TWO (yes, TWO!) solutions for this problem! Both allow you to view some charts and download your readings in CSV format. 1) Google chrome extension by Nightscout - works on Windows, Mac OS and Linux, requires Chrome browser: This is an extension for Chrome browser made by the same people that are working on Nightscout project (CGM in the Cloud). As the author says: it is NOT offical Dexcom software, and may not work at all. So far for me works great (I compared last 30 days of readings with the ones downloaded via Dexcom Studio and they matched nicely). - download directly from your browser, click-click and you have all your numbers in. Install the extension, plug your receiver into your computer and ta-dah! - exported readings are rounded/cut to 1st decimal (a little annoying if you're comparing the numbers with export from Dexcom software, as it gives you 2 decimals), but not a big issue - graphs are very simplistic, but still give you all the data you may need - as author says - it's not an official software, so the data MAY be completely wrong (I didn't find any issues so far). 2) Windows/Mac: Dexcom portrait software: it's basically a simpler version of Dexcom studio in your browser: Simpler version of the Studio software that works in your browser. Installs some kind of plugins to your browser and you can upload your readings directly to the software. - official Dexcom software (so you can rely on it being correc Continue reading >>

We have vista and were having trouble with other software. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! It seems to be a nice tool, however I am still looking for one that incorporates pump and cgm data as well. This one can only get data from meters. Animas' new EZ Manager Max runs very fine on Vista and OSX Tiger and higher on Intel Macs. We use it daily! I was looking at it on the Animas webpage and it looked interesting, but I couldn't figure out how to get it. No links, just a phone number. How old fashioned. It has to be purchased. Mainly aimed at Animas Pumpers but others do use it. The newer software is better than the old one (I still use it most of the time). Also downloads many meters. I am developer of GGC (GNU Gluco Control). It's Open source software written in Java (which means it will run everywhere). We are currently supporting several meters and we started with support for Pumps (supported Dana and Roche/AccuChek pumps for now) and CGMS (we support only Dexcom7 and even this only through import of file created by DX3 software). Problem with getting software that support many devices is, that device manufacturers don't give any support and protocol for communication with device is unknown. Meter manufacturers sometimes give support, but not all of them... Mostly development for support is trial and error... We started working on Minimed pump support, but since I don-t own it, progress is very slow (and Minimed (actually company that is selling Minimed in my country) won't give support, since they are not allowed to... P.S.: You can GGC on Continue reading >>

Apple Picks 13 Apps For People With Diabetes

Apple Picks 13 Apps For People With Diabetes

Apple periodically updates its app store with lists of apps for particular groups of people. Even as the new iOS 8, with a built in Health app, goes into beta, Apple has added a new list: "Apple's Apps for Diabetics." According to the CDC's 2011 fact sheet, diabetes affects 25.8 million people, or 8.3 percent of the US population. The apps on Apple's list aren't all from the US, and they don't all target diabetes specifically. While many are tracking and management apps for blood glucose and insulin levels, others are more general purpose apps for eating specific diets, which people with diabetes could benefit from. The list includes mostly consumer-facing apps but one app for doctors, as well as one for kids and one for pregnant women with diabetes. The list has some overlap with the list of top-grossing diabetes apps Research2Guidance released in March, but app developer Azumio, which Research2Guidance identified as the market leader, has no apps on Apple's list. Read on for 13 apps Apple has highlighted for its users with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Diabetik by UglyApps (free) This British-made diabetes app raised $11,600 on Kickstarter in February 2013. The app helps people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes monitor how much and how often they’re eating, their blood glucose levels, and whether they’ve taken their medication.
