The Role Of Insulin-like Growth Factor I And Hypoxia Inducible Factor 1α In Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expression In Type 2 Diabetes

Introduction Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), characterized by various degrees of vascular dysfunction, represents a significant public health burden [1,2]. Subjects with T2DM can experience macro- and micro- angiopathy, with the latter leading to clinical complications, such as diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy, resulting in blindness, renal failure and nerve damage [3]. Angiogenesis is an essential biological process in the progression of diabetes, and is tightly regulated by the net effect of pro-and anti-angiogenic factors. Among them, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is potentially the most pro-angiogenic factor, and has been widely investigated in diabetic vascular complications. VEGF is affected by several factors including gender, smoking, hyper- and hypoglycemia, elevated blood lipids, hypoxia, and activated stress axes, but the major stimulant is cellular hypoxia [4]. It has become evident that hypoxia plays an important role in all diabetic vascular complications [5]. Adaptive responses of cells to hypoxia are mediated by hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1), in particular by HIF-1α. Research has shown that increased angiogenesis is closely associ Continue reading >>

Hi this is my first post on here .So has anybody heard anything about research into I.G.F and the claims by an American doctor that this treatment is a cure for diabeties ? Type 1 and type 2 he claims can be cured in a 14 day course of treatment , Also he recons that the large pharmisuitical firms know all about I.G.F but are refusing to back the research because it would cost them millions in lost revenue.

    Welcome to the forum
Never heard of the research, but if there was a known cure available it would be more widely known about by now.

Yes, we have had a couple of other people appearing with similar queries to your own.
Unless they produce good quality links (no sales pitch, dodgy claims) and they provide clear, verifiable evidence, I just dismiss it as snake oil salesmanship.
