    I'm pre-diabetic. I'm used to having a snack at night before bed but tonight I decided not to have one because I'm trying the No S diet (no seconds, no snacks, no sweets/sugar). I feel a bit yucky and want a snack but I"m not sure if it isn't just because that's what I'm used to and my body needs to readjust. My blood sugar is 103. I did some googling and one site said that my blood sugar should be between 100 - 140 before bed. Another site (a well known site for diabetics) said that it should be at least 140. What do you say?

    I'm new to my diabetes diagnosis, so I'm definitely not an expert, but I think the "at least 140 before bed" is wrong. I've heard that above 140 is when high blood sugar starts doing damage, and you should try to stay below that at all times.
    I would be happy with 103 before bed. That said, I always eat a high fat snack before bed (google "fat bombs"...they're really good!). If I get too hungry overnight, I get what is called "Dawn Phenomenon" where the body is starving and dumps a bunch of glucose in preparation for eating. And that causes blood sugar to rise in the morning.
