## What Is The Relation Between Mg/dl And Mmol/l For Blood Glucose Tests?

The easiest way to convert blood glucose from mmol/L to mg/dL is to multiply the value in mmol/L by 18 and change the units. For example, if your reading is 10 mmol/L, you multiply 10 mmol/L by 18, which equals 200, and change the units to mg/dL: 200 mg/dL. The number 18 represents the conversion factor, which relates to the molecular structure and weight of glucose. Continue reading >>

Very useful, thanks. Being in Canada, we use mmol/L. I once told a friend in the US, a fellow diabetic, that I finally got my glucose level under 10; he asked how I could possibly still be alive when he was trying to keep it around 100. (That was when I learned they measure differently in the USA.)

## Blood Sugar Conversion Calculator

Conversion formulas The blood glucose convertor can perform either of the transformations, be it that we start from mg/dL or mmol/L. The calculator allows an unlimited amount of conversions and can help with transformation when glucose tests are performed under different systems. ■ The mmol/L unit is the molar concentration, also known as millimolar (mM). This is equal to 18.0182 mg/dL. 1 mmol/L = 18.0182 mg/dL which means: Value in mg/dL (mmol/L to mg/dL) = Glucose value in mmol/L x 18.0182 ■ In the US, the miligrams per deciliter, mg/dL is preferred. This is equal to 0.0555 mmol/L. 1 mg/dL = 0.055 mmol/L which means: Value in mmol/L (mg/dL to mmol/L) = Glucose value in mg/dL x 0.0555 About blood sugar levels Blood sugar or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose, the primary source of energy for the body cells, present in the blood. Glucose is regulated by a series of metabolic processes, mostly led by the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas. Normal glucose levels in a healthy individual (fasting values) are between 72 and 108 mg/dL which equals to 4.0 to 6.0 mmol/L. These values are usually lower in the morning and rise during the first two hours after each meal. Continue reading >>

Kindly guide on how (provide formula if it exists) to convert miligrams per decilitre (mg/dl) of blood sugar into milimoles per litre (mmol/L) without having to use glucometers of the corresponding scales. Thanks

Long answer: This is a composite of two conversions 180 g/mol, the molar mass of glucose, and 10 dL/L. Note the conversion from grams to moles is always substance-specific and is based on molecular weight.
As example
90 mg/dL x 1 mol/180 g x 10 dL/l =5 mmol/L

One of the effects of a sugar-rich vs a starch-rich meal is highlighted.[1] The blood sugar level, blood sugar concentration, or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose present in the blood of humans and other animals. • Conversion Glucose Mg Dl To Mmol L

Millimoles per liter or milligrams per deciliter? There are two different ways of measuring blood glucose levels: It can either be in terms of a molar concentration, measured in mmol/L or a mass concentration, measured in mg/dL. Most blood glucose meters are prefixed to measure in one or the other. This avoids accidental switching – which could be fatal. However, you still have to be aware of the different measurement units: If information are ...

Blood glucose level is the amount of glucose present in the blood. 2 very common ways in which blood glucose is measured is in mmol/L or in mg/dL. Depending on the country, these differing units for blood glucose are used. Today, it is not uncommon for glucometers to have the blood glucose reading in both units. However, there still exist many glucometers which only give the blood glucose reading in one unit. In those cases, it is necessary to pe ...

It's easy to convert blood sugar measurements reported using the U.S. style of blood sugar measurements using mg/dl to the kind used in the rest of the world that use mmol/L. Just multiply the mmol/L measurement by 18.05 to get the US measurement. Divide the U.S. measurement by 18.05 to get the measurement used in the rest of the world. If you don't have a calculator handy, forget the fraction and use 18. It's close enough. Here's a handy online ...
